A one star is not low enough. Worst experience ever, when we thought it was bad, it just got worse. If you call they never call you back, and when you question it we never got your call, and they tell you you should have messaged us in the portal, which the portal is always having issues. While the staff was friendly. My doctor left a lot to be desired. I went in for a consultation because I was exhibiting a lot of symptoms for sleep apnea. Dr. Amiri kept asking questions. Never let me finish an answer before asking the next one. I told him I used to take Adderall for years as I have ADHD but I stopped because of the personality changes that occurred as I grew up from taking it. DID NOT CARE. Wrote me a prescription for it anyway. Said "I know you cited it being detrimental to your personal life for being the reason but I'm going to need you to take it anyways till I determine that it's not working"... The F***?! $450 for 10 min of his precious time. Given the rush and cost it has to be right? Didn't even introduce himself or anything. read more

I wish there was a zero star option. After Dr Borresen left, the practice fell under new management. I developed a good Dr/Patient relationship with Dr McConnell...until the past three visits. Sadly the issue was not with the Dr. But the incompetent back-office and scheduling. Late last year I had an appointment in the University office on North Tryon. I made it to the appointment on time and had even received notices over the prior week about the appointment including the address...so when I show up I get a glazed stare and was told the Dr wasn't even in that office on that day. They doubted me even after I showed than the appointment card they gave me, copies of the emails they sent and the texts, including one earlier that day and all showing my Dr, the date, time and location. So I ended up rescheduling...and they sent me a $25 bill for missing that appointment! So the rescheduled appointment went off on, but then after I got and paid the bill, I received 3 more bills over the next few months for the same visit, which had already been paid (last year they did this and had the excuse it was their new systems fault). So today, I went for my appointment..I had once again gotten texts and emails as before....I show up and utter confusion set in. Finally they tell me my Dr had left that practice months before. I asked why I hadn't gotten ANY notice and they tried to insinuate they sent emails and a letter....which I call BS on as I received nothing and they do have all that info which hasn't changed in the past decade. At this point I am done with this clown practice and its incompetent office staff. No one should have to deal with this, but I can see from other reviews many have had similar issues. At this point it's an ethics issue and a violation of Federal billing laws, not to mention very unfriendly. Luckily I have my old Doctors new office info and will be following him. My only suggestion is to steer clear of this practice...it was once great, but now withered tarnished and worthless. read more

Worst possible patient care I have ever experienced. I have an appointment scheduled for 4/26, but was notified via email on 4/25 at 4:57 pm via email that Dr Askin had left, the email does not in any way state that my appointment is cancelled. They confirmed this appointment with me via text on 4/19. I have called several times, no answer. I left a voice mail for the office manager, no response. If you are cancelling the appointment, someone should be able to pick up a telephone and make a call. Frankly someone should have called about the change in the first place instead of sending out an email right before you close for the day and less than 24 hours before my appointment. I have to notify you 24 hours in advance of a cancelation, why cant you show your clients the same courtesy. I will give then credit.....they posted a letter on the website today (4/26) announcing that Askin left on 4/13. So with all of this change underway, they send me a text 6 days after he left to confirm my appointment!!!!! I would think that they would do anything possible to retain their client base, but apparently you don't care if you have patients or not. read more

I have been bringing my daughter to this office since she was 9 months old. She is now 2 and everyone in the office has always been very kind and professional. The providers that see my daughter have always had her health as their first priority. Highly recommend! read more

Terrible communications and record keeping. On April 2016 I had an EEG performed. Since then I've moved out of state and I requested my records for my new Doctor. After about a dozen messages and talking to several employees, I was told that my EEG readings were archived and no longer accesible. Actually deleted not archived. I paid $700 out of pocket to have the EEG performed. Those are my records and should have been given to me or held in storage. The worst part is that after talking to the records keeper which assured me a definitive answer, she never called back nor answered my messages. read more

Good luck trying to get a hold of anyone at this office. Besides listening to a machine that has a bagillion options for you to press 1 for this, 2 for that you always end up getting a voicemail. They "can't" tell you the contracted price for procedures when every other office I called would tell me, even though they are the ones who contract the price with your insurance provider. They sent me paperwork that said arrive 30 min early to complete all paperwork ; I arrived 15 min early and there was zero additional paperwork. Then they didn't call me back until 48 minutes after my scheduled appointment time for a simple doctors visit. Please do not tell me to come 30 min early when you've already sent me all the paperwork to fill out and then call me back 48 min after my appointment. They should say if you don't want to fill out this paperwork ahead of time then come in 30 min early - but if you fill it out then just be on time. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, particularly for doctors/doctors offices. But this place did not appear THE LEAST BIT understaffed yet they only pick up the phone 1 out of 8 times I called. And after leaving one voicemail day 1, one voicemail on day 2 and then by the end of day 3 they still hadn't called me back about a simple referral. It's RIDICULOUS! The doctor I met with was fine, I got what I needed from him and he was fine examining me. But it was sort of odd that the whole time I talked to him his back was facing me because he was typing on the computer; he couldn't turn to look at me while we had a conversation. read more

This practice has so many issues it isn't funny. Doctors rotate in and out of the practice, front desk staff are rude, when you call with questions you NEVER hear back. I had an appointment where the doctor was supposed to give me a prescription, but I never got it. When I called back just a week later because I needed a refill, I never got a call back. Now, nearly 2 full weeks later, I have 3 days worth of medicine left and they told me that I have to make an appointment to come back in. So now I have to go back in pay another copay and hope they give me my prescription when I leave. Needless to say, I am going to change practices altogether. Let me start by saying that I love Amiri and i will continue to come to this office to see him because I've come for so long. But if you're thinking of coming here, don't. The front desk staff is very rude and aggravating, they don't answer phone calls, but the absolute worst thing about this office - every time I come i wait a minimum of 30 min before I ever see the doctor. I have waited an hour before. However, if you're going to be even a couple minutes late and call to let them know, they will tell you that you can't come late but they're completely fine with you sitting for an average of 35 min every time you come to them. When trying to sort out billing issues and charges for a test that was botched by a uncaring & rude EEG tech, I found nothing but problems. Dr French is the only one who was any good but he moved on very quickly, also Jennifer Simpson is an excellent PA and I would be happy to see her if I knew where she went. Complete waste of time and money. Receptionists are rude and unhelpful. My boyfriend saw Dr. McConell two weeks ago and was promised a follow up MRI. Deidtra was supposed to schedule an MRI with us. She never followed up. Fast forward and now he is in the ER with two blod clots and a clot behind the left eye. Still can not schedule an MRI. All we ever get are voicemails. Similar experience as others. Doctors (Washburn) mentioned aren't engaging and type with back turned alot it seems. My dad's original doctor abruptly leaves with no notice even though my dad had an upcoming appointment. The replacement didn't specialize in the originals field and when I tried to tell her where the original left, she went on another track and began suggesting medications instead of giving more info on what the previous doctor mentioned or refer me to someone who DID specialize in that. 2 appointments later after more assertively expressing interest in the original doctor's suggestions, my dad gets an appointment with the specialist. As a new patient (to him), the only time you can see him is 8am, they say. On the way to the appointment, a wreck on Independence causes us to be late. I try to call ahead to let them know (about 7:40) but the phones don't work until 8am. Same time as the appointment. I manage to call at 8 on the dot and tell them and the women seems to want to discourage me from trying to make it, but she does say she'll tell the doctor I'm trying to get there. I get there too late. She says she tried to call but the number she reads back to me I've never seen or at least recall slightly. My emergency number was there. I have both phones on me, they just didn't use it. We reschedule for the next day, and they try to imply I should be grateful because they "fit " me in. We finally make the appointment. The "specialist " repeats information the original doctor mentioned and questions about my dad's living situation. Gloomy tone, even though we're past the part about accepting the disease is incurable. We're treating symptoms like the original doctor spoke about. He seemed to have an idea that we thought botox injections would make my dad 21 again. We didn't say all that, but the original specialist suggested it could help with the symptoms (arm rigidity, muscle tone) and we wanted to explore that option. Turns out he doesn't specialize EXACTLY like the original. He botoxes faces not arms so he refers me to a CMC group that does. I let him know how long this process was just to come up with this conclusion, and not once did he apologize for any inconveniences. He only said, "You got misinformation" and continued to downplay any optimism the procedure would work at all. Always circling back to the fact that it's not a cure. Any important information should be given to me as my dad has neurological issues but he only looked at my dad. I understand looking at the patient out of respect but he's not going to execute anything he says. He needs to make sure I understand what he's saying. Didn't look at me unless he was defending the whole sloppy process. Poor listener. No we didn't come to make him 21 again. Yes, as mentioned several times throughout, this procedure is for his arm, not face. If you don't have the right specialist, tell us that 3 appointments ago. It's in the original doctor's notes that this doctor was reading with his back to me. Even if briefly, it's in the notes. I was prepared to not have a problem with this doctor because he just happened to be the last person I encountered and he may not have been aware or even have control over the events, but lack of apology with dismissive AND defensive posture changed my mind. 2 of the prescriptions are somewhat effective, but overall, we got got for 3 appointments. read more

This is the worst medical practice we have ever experienced. No one is there to take phone calls and it takes days for them to return messages. At the last visit the Dr was interrupted in the exam room to discuss which type of food they were ordering for lunch. Then he later left the exam room to discuss his lunch order further. The front desk ignores you when you arrive. We are also moving because the medical care is very poor. They can't get the prescriptions called in correctly and have scheduled appointments at the wrong location-only for us to find out when we arrive. Neurologist's offices should definitely have a much higher standard. read more

I took my mom for a consult for a possible stroke after being hospitalized for over a week. The dr walked in no introduction, no acknowledgement (for me or my mom) and asked why are you here. He was rude and unconcerned from the start. He gave no pertinent information or treatment options, and was more concerned about me and my profession than my mother's health. I was a patient of Dr. Pfeiffer's from 1990 until his retirement since MS symptoms first began. Then tolerated the replacement scrub team with rotating players. It is obvious that the original associates were great doctors but when they had all retired, the end was in near sight. As a patient of nearly thirty years, I happened to have a 4:00pm appt. on a Thursday and was told as I left that the next day they would no longer be able to provide treatment. See ya. And that was it. Thus, all of these poor reviews reflect the reason that the original associates decided to dissolve the practice. I was later told from a long term insider that they were never able to contract with capable specialists. Just like the revolving door nurse prac.s they began using. If you choose to see the Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Ashkin it would be a good idea to double check your prescription if you are getting a refill. Because of HER error it is now up to me to correct. I now have to inconvenience myself by making a 30 minute trip (one way) to give them the incorrect scripts before I'm given the correct ones or I can mail them in - which would in turn take about a week to get the correct ones. Oh, and they refuse to overnight the prescriptions - even knowing I NEED to have my medication filled. Some lady, Sheila (?), was very condescending toward me. Her attitude was that of I was being a nuisance. Her tone accused me of not being truthful about the length of time it takes me to get to the office as she lives in the same town as I do. She claims it doesn't take that long to get there. I don't appreciate being called a liar. I know how long the trip is. Additionally, the office manager was too coward to speak to me directly...how convenient for her. What bothers me is the NP writing a script incorrectly and not catching the error. You can kill people like this. From now on I'll only see Dr. Ashkin. I can't give the practice any more than 2 stars, but I do like Dr. Ashkin. read more

I saw Dr. Peiffer when I had been experiencing cognitive issues -- memory loss, difficulty concentrating, inability to organize. As I described my experiences to him, he sat and typed. After I was finished, he spoke to me as though I was a five-year-old. He was dismissive and patronizing, seeming not to believe me. When I realized I was not going to get any help from him, I began to cry. He was absolutely stunned,saying nothing. My husband stepped in and asked what tests we needed to run. Dr. Peiffer was much more comfortable talking to him. As we left, I saw that he had written in my summary that I was a "depressed and anxious housewife". As it turned out, I had several serious neurological problems and have spent the last two years getting rehab. I will have some problems for the rest of my life. After that experience, I never saw Dr. Pieffer again, finding an empathetic female neurologist. I would suggest avoiding this doctor unless you are a man. read more

My very first scheduled appointment after a seizure the week prior. I was 15 mins early for my appt and yet I had to wait 45 mins before I was called back to be seen by provider. The front desk staff is not very friendly. They are very rude and not personable. I was scheduled for an MRI and was called twice and asked to reschedule. The week of and the day of to see if I could come in prior to my appt that was confirmed on a Saturday. I had an appointment to get the results of my MRI and sleep deprivation test. I took the rest of my day off and traveled from Fort Mill, SC I ended up leaving my bank card at my desk. The front desk was not cooperative in letting me call in my card info to pay my copay. I was given a hard time by a front desk rep. I decided to fill out a triage form to have a nurse give me a call with the results. I still have not received a phone call and that was over a week ago. I have been calling every other day since leaving messages and still have not gotten a call as of yet. Dr. Amiri was nice, but his office staff is horrible. read more

The Customer Service provided by the front desk staff at Mecklenburg Neurological Associates is horrible and it appears that their superiors aren't any better since they will not return any calls. If you like to be acknowledged and treated as a human being and with some sort of compassion then do not go here. You are just a number here and you will not get that treatment at Meckelnburg Neurological Associates. If you go, make sure you are not a minute late to your appointment, they will ask you to reschedule, basically kick you out and not in a very polite way, however, if you are on time or early for your appointment, take something to keep you busy, you will wait a long time to be seen. As someone that lives with Multiple Sclerosis and has been going to this office for the past 5 years and dealt with these women with cold as ice personalities, I've come to terms that there are other capable physicians in the area that will surround themselves with the staff that will treat you with dignity and respect. read more

My husband has been a client of Dr. Washburn's since 2009 - we have yet to ever get a person on the phone - but the automated answering system says if you know your party's extension, hah! In mid-April I called the office 5 times, leaving voice mail for Dr. Washburn's "triage nurse" - we had gotten a renewal form for his disabled parking placard. Five times I left voice mail for this woman - who I might add NEVER returned my call. Finally, after the 5th time another woman called my home, left me a message, asking me if we wanted the placard renewal or the license plate renewal. So... about 10 days later the form came in the mail - I sent the form and my check to NC DMV - on May 29 the form & check came back from NC DMV because...the doctor's office did not include his medical license number on it. On May 30, 2017 I sent a letter to the practice manager - with the incomplete form, the missing information highlighted, my check and an addressed stamped envelope to the DMV with instructions to the practice manager to please complete the form, enclose the corrected completed form and the check in the stamped addressed envelope and please mail it to NC DMV. Well, here we are...It's now June 20 - no placard and no, the check has not been cashed. But...I finally found out the practice manager's name - Sherry Buttrey! WILL YOU EVER CALL? Probably not. I hope my husband will consider switching neurologists, I just can't deal with automated answering systems AND incompetency. read more
