There are also lots of popular children's books available (lots of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which is super important), as well as a section of children's books by local Michigan writers and books about the state of Michigan. There's a little cafe here, too. It's not much, but you can get coffee, tea, hot chocolate, chips and other snacks, and some baked goods. There are a few tables in the cafe area where you can sit and enjoy your food and beverages. I was impressed by the number of cute Michigan / Cadillac gifts that were around the store. Things like Cadillac mugs, tote bags, t-shirts, cards and other things. If you're looking for a souvenir or local gift, this is a place to find that.

I love when you walk in you are greeted with the 100 Banned Books to peruse through. I love a business that highlights banned books, as all booksellers should be doing this year. Although I felt like the selection was limited, I wasn't upset with this store. It just took me a little longer to find a book to purchase. I loved all the knickknacks (stickers, bags, etc) they had to shop from. The kind bookseller was helpful when I asked for help. She was completely open to offering suggestions, but I felt capable of finding something else. She was extremely kind and engaging with the few patrons that were in the store. Since I this was my first time here, I was taking it all in. The kid section was really cute and the layout is easy to shop. I enjoyed the staff picks and layouts of the different sections. They are on the smaller side, so I wouldn't expect to show up and find every single top book on the market. But there are PLENTY that I found enjoyable and enough to purchase two books! They have lots of books, including rare and out-of-print titles. It's not fancy in the least bit, and in fact it's a little overwhelming to visit because there's just so much everywhere all at once. But if you're into organized chaos, you will have fun exploring Book Nook because there is something to see all around the store. My children headed straight for the kids' section. There were lots of books here that sent me straight to the late 1980s and early 1990s when I was a young reader, like the McGurk detective series and Lois Lowry joints. My kids each found a book to take home for pocket change. That's the great thing about used book stores: You can walk away with a treasure for a couple of bucks. Book Nook also has lots of old magazines, those trash paperback romance novels you read on vacation, albums and vinyl records, 25-cent gum-ball machines and more. It's the real old-school deal, and you need to visit this place when you're in Cadillac.

When you have credit from bringing books in, you are able to use half the credit and pay for the other half in cash. For example, if your book if $5, you will be able to use $2.50 in credit and you'd pay for the rest with cash. Makes sense, you have to make money somehow! Cheryl is very nice too, I really enjoyed talking to her! I highly recommend you book lovers stop here! The prices are pretty great too.
