Recently an employee, Katie, has been there while I'm shopping more often than not. She always gives me a warm genuine hello and asks how I have been doing. I hadn't been in in a while and she even went to say "I haven't seen you in a while, how have you been?" That made me feel like I mattered and brought a smile from ear to ear. Every time I am trying my clothes on she is always so fast to check in on me and take the things I don't want, and even goes out of her way to bring me new ideas. When I told her once that I usually only shop clearance (as she had brought me a beautiful-but out of my price range- romper) she didn't get annoyed at all. She actually introduced me to their Instagram! Now I'm not sure if every rue21 has their own Instagram, but they should! She explained that her and the team posted coupons all the time and there was one going on while I was in there! This girl talked me into grabbing not one, but 2 rompers AND a cute necklace to wear out with them! Not once did I feel like I was being pressured into buying something I didn't need! I had $42 in my debit card account…read more It kept declining so I asked who I assume was a manager for help because she was wearing a more official outfit. She just stood there and smirked at me and asked if I had enough money. I tried explaining to her that yes I did and could she please just help me. I even showed my balance to my roommates who I was with and they told the lady it should be working. When it kept declining I transferred twenty more dollars onto my card and my roommate told me not to hold my card in so aggressively. Maybe it was the holding of the card differently or the extra money but it finally went through. The manager who had been standing there the whole time not helping me said "are you sure you had enough money at the beginning? Didn't you just say you had to transfer money?" In the most condescending voice. I wish I'd gotten her name because my roommates and I walked out like did that really just happen? Apparently it isn't the first time they've had issues with their registers and checkout process. I'm on the lookout for her next time I go in so I can get her name.

No CMU apparel sold here...not even cups. I love that they have Rae Dunn home goods! Update: There is an elderly man that works in the changing room area and he made my day. He is one of those employees that truly loves his job. Once I made my way to the dressing room he wished me luck that my outfit choices would work out for me. I dread clothes shopping in general but this man just made it a little bit better for me with his enthusiasm and genuine kindness.

When I said we still have 20 minutes till close, I was told that they do that so they can get everyone checked out. If your sign says your open till 7 pm then that is when you close. This happened at the Midland store but has also happened at the other MO stores as well. I love searching for all the neat things they get but when I think I have a half hour only to be told basically I have ten minutes. If the stores are going to post the hours of operation then that is when they should lock the doors and turn the closed sign.
