In April 2022, the USA requires a negative COVID test in order to board an aircraft and enter the United States. The last time I checked, it was required that the test be the same day as travel or the previous day but no further back than that. As we were driving around quite a bit, being able to visit the airport the day before travel to get our test was quite convenient for the low cost of €25!
The MED MXP booths are located in Malpensa airport Terminal 1 on the arrivals floor adjacent to door 4. It's hard to miss as it is in the center of the concourse with pretty good signage.
I booked the tests a few hours early and selected one of the last test windows of the day. We parked the rental car in short term parking and found our way to the test center. Our registration number was validated, identification was confirmed (US passport) and we were led back for the test. The "front office" folks all spoke great English though the lady who actually did the test did not. No worries if you know the process which is to stick a q-tip up your nose. At least it's not all the way back to your brain these days.
Fifteen minutes later, we each had a mostly official looking form with a huge "X" through the "negative" and the date/time of the test. It was sufficient as the gate agent the next morning accepted it as official.
