Charlie came to me by with glowing recommendations by way of a friend, and he has far exceeded my every expectation and hope. Charlie is a true artist, and his attention to detail is astounding, leading to a spectacularly beautiful finished product. As importantly to me, Charlie always carries himself with the utmost professionalism and is someone in whom I have full confidence and trust. His time and cost estimates were incredibly good and he was transparent and accommodating throughout. Choosing a contractor and carpenter is a big decision and I can say without reservation that there's nobody better. The only problem I have now is that I can't stand to look at the parts of my house that he hasn't remodeled :)

He is a true professional and an amazing craftsman. He built three bathrooms, a kitchen, an apartment and all the work needed to preserve the foundation of the house. Charlie's carpentry is superb. His ability to solve all the problems our old house presented was remarkable. He is also a wonderful person- intelligent, personable and a pleasure to have in my home. I could not recommend him any more highly. You would be the lucky one if Charlie worked for you.

The cons: I would never work with F.H. Perry on any future renovation. Here are a few of the highlights: - Flooring mistake - The sub-contractor who put our flooring in underestimated the amount of material required. This left us with two choices: 1) take a big delay in the project (possibly 3-4 weeks) while we waited for more material to come in, while also rescheduling all subsequent sub-contractors, or 2) tile the visible parts and whatever non-visible parts of the floor we could with the available material. Unfortunately we felt we had no choice but to go with #2 and so now have tile in the visible and some of the non-visible parts of the kitchen, allowing us to neither change out the cabinets or floor without ripping up both. - HVAC issue - Our site supervisor said it didn't make sense to heat under the cabinets and recommended putting floor heat underneath only the visible parts of the kitchen floor. Our previous kitchen had heated floors that spanned the visible and non-visible parts of the kitchen, which worked well. But based on F.H. Perry's feedback, this seemed unnecessary. Unfortunately the loss of the additional piping does not allow the floor heat to keep up when the temperature goes below 20 degrees. - Site supervisor pulled / project overrun - Toward the end of our project, F.H. Perry pulled our site supervisor to work on a bigger project, assigning two people part-time to play this role. We had expected to have a handoff meeting to make sure we had a clean transition, but instead we had two very distracted new people who had very little knowledge of our renovation were rarely here. What was estimated to have been a 10 week project dragged on for another 6-8 weeks with no effective project supervision. - Cost overrun on drain project - As part of kitchen renovation, we had F.H. Perry take on a drain project in the backyard. We received a verbal only estimate for the work that we thought was high but moved forward. We constantly asked for more details during the project and were told only that "the digging took longer than expected." When we received the bill it was 5X the estimate, the majority of which was for three diggers / unskilled workers to manually dig a hole. The sub-contractor's bill was completely indecipherable, and it was clear they were charging for work that could not possibly have been done. In the end, I give F.H. Perry some credit for admitting the absurdity of the invoice and being willing to substantially discount the bill - but only after my wife provided all the details on the workers and hours worked by the contractor. - Network cabling - This is minor but is a good example of our overall experience. The entire house had been wired with cat6 cabling prior to the start of the renovation. As part of this project, we asked F.H. Perry to move a network drop four feet from its current location. After the kitchen was completed, I tested the network port and it was not live. In bringing the subcontractors back, it seems they just attached a random cable they found to the outlet, never bothering to ensure it went anywhere (it didn't) or that it was cat6 (it was cat5). Overall we had a very poor experience with F.H. Perry and would never consider or recommend them for a residential project.

Bad experience with this company…read more If they are late or no show, they are always having a car accident or vehicle breakdown. This happened several times to me and other clients of them. Severe delay at work. They tend to overbook themselves, NO workers at my sites most of the time. When I call for an update or rush them, their car breaks down, they have a car accident, the town does not respond to their inspection request (lies). Horrible craftsmanship. The kids sent to my work site were only 19 at the time, and barely trained. They don't seem to hold proper licenses. At the time of inspection, they had their electricians go out for a walk, and a new electrician walked in and presented the work. A similar scenario with plumbers as well. Additionally, the company name on the permit is not Caetanos, but a very different company with a very different owner. This does not seem like a standard business practice.

The individual cut in front of morning traffic to get on the 495 on ramp. Cut directly into the ramp from the straight lane. When i honked my horn, he hung out yhe window, looking back, while still driving on the ramp. Proceed to wave his arms and make random gestures. Given the location of the business the individual would have knowledge of the traffic patterns. Cut raffic and proceeded to drive in the passing lane with hazards on, repeatedly hitting brakes and slowing down. Did the same thing to exit the highway, cut across 3 lanes to enter directly into the ramp. Poor participant in the community. If this behavior is reflective of their service, red flags for cutting corners, and putting personal interests over clients. Poor representation of the community.
