There is no better, None. This is as good as it gets. Dr. Patel is a ninja. I have never felt that I received better care than I feel when he takes care of things. I was relocated for work to Philadelphia and I still came back to see him. Relocated to New York and I do not want another Doctor, I am making the drive in to see the folks here. Brought my daughter here because it was after hours of her primary care. She had a fever on and off for a few days and was complaining of throat pain. The doctor looked at her throat saw it was inflamed and prescribed penicillin. She was not getting better after a few days on the penicillin so I called and they prescribed a different antibiotic. After that antibiotic didn't work and she was getting worse, I brought her back. It was the weekend and our primary group doesn't have an on call doctor. The doctor saw her again, looked at her throat and said, "I see white spots, let's put her back on penicillin" when I asked what white spots meant, he said strep. They never took a throat culture. I left there and took her right to CCMC because even the pharmacist questioned the script of penicillin again. At CCMC, once the did cultures, she was diagnosed with mono. Antibiotics don't treat mono! What a waste of time, resources and money at this place! read more

UPDATE: I just received a check directly from Medicare since I was forced to pay MedCare Express $95 for visit. At least Medicare is looking out for us and not paying the provider that is charging a fee that should not be charged to the customer. Shame on you MedCare Express. They are compassionate, and I sense that they really care about their patients. I decided on 4 stars for this review because a prescription never made it to the pharmacy, and I had to call not once, but twice to have them send it. This is something you don't mess around with. On the day of visit 01/04/2023, front desk patient registrar (she) told me either I can pay $95 out of my pocket or use my insurance card and pay $85 for the visit. She told me I'll save $10 if i use my insurance card. I asked her if i use my insurance card and pay $85 now instead of $95 without using my insurance card, will i get any bills to pay later. Her response was she can confirm that after the doctor's visit. After seeing the doctor, I went back to her and after checking she told me I'm all set and there will be no bill coming later for this visit.But after few weeks, I received a bill from them. I called the billing department and spoke to Heather. I explained everything to Heather and told her she can check the camera if she needs proof of my statement. Heather was very unprofessional and loud at me, her response was she cannot do anything and i have to check with my insurance about this issue. Very unprofessional!!! I was charged 15 THOUSAND instead of 15 dollar. They could not give me an answer about the transaction. They did not know how to reverse the transaction so i had to deal through my bank. The bank had to open an investigation for fraud, that is going to take at least 120 days to get an answer. 15 thousand dollar gone from my account during this hard period of pandemic we are going through and this practice all they can say is dont know how that happened and we dont know how to help you. Dr Patel is wonderful - compassionate, quick, and efficient. We have known him for years. I am not as complimentary about his nurse practitioner. People go to an urgent care because they feel very ill and lead busy lives. The advice of "drink lots of water" and "use a humidifier," although valuable in and of itself, does not fix a post nasal drip from Strep sore throat. I would still recommend MedCare as it is the only facility that has Sunday evening hours. read more

I am not entirely sure where to begin with this review. Let me preface this by saying I have used this walk in for years, even when it was across the street. (Now a vape shop) Dr. Patel has always been spot on. He is quick, efficient and knows what he's doing. The service from the doctor here is not my concern what so ever. I was seen in October of 2020. I honestly cannot tell you what transpired in the office because it was six months ago now. Either way, apparently I was put in with "no insurance". I would remember if there was a dispute about insurance or not, that is not something I would forget. I am now getting a phone call SIX MONTHS later about this. I most certainly have insurance and nothing has changed. The woman with billing initially called me while I was at work and I was distracted, but I was fully convinced it was a scam call. She was speaking soft and did not state where she was calling from or provided her name. She was telling me I owed $175 and I needed to pay it and was looking for info over the phone. I declined to give anything over the phone because I was not understanding what was going on, as I said, I thought it was a scam. I called back when I got home and she explained that my insurance was not taken and that multiple notices were sent for this bill and she was calling before it went to collections. I was not understanding seeing as my insurance has not changed. Clearly this was an office error. I explained the special circumstances of receiving bills at the provided address and she decided that LECTURING me and saying "well when I didn't live at home my parents put my mail to the side and I checked in with them". I found this to be highly unprofessional and rude. She does not know my personal circumstances and has no right to sit here and lecture me like I don't pay my bills. I stated that I am not paying $175 when I have insurance to cover this and asked why the office didn't bother to take my information or attempt to verify anything. She said she "wasn't going to try to find an explanation or excuse as to why they didn't". She said "well you were seen and came for a visit so you need to pay" as well. Once again, unprofessional and rude attitude. I will 100% admit that I was being very forward and definitely came off with an attitude but when someone who does not provide their name or where they are calling from demanding $175 out of no where, you are going to be put off. I did apologize and said I wasn't trying to be a pain or rude but it was extremely frustrating. There was dead silence for a few seconds and I had to say hello? to get a response. Didn't even acknowledge the fact that I was trying to right my wrong. She had a down right, rude, arrogant and unprofessional attitude. I am 23 and still on my dads insurance, I have never dealt with an issue like this before and I was not understanding what happened. Instead of talking down to me, she could have been a bit more understanding as to why I was so frustrated. I will not be visiting this walk in again mainly because I do not want to ever have to deal with their billing department again after this. I was holding back tears on the phone and in tears after the fact because of this woman. Also, the office staff is hit or miss. Either they are on their game and super nice and friendly or downright rude and unapproachable, and in this situation, don't do a thorough job at check in. This is the best place ever!!! I love it so much that I made Dr. Patel my PCP! He's kind, gentle, and VERY, VERY intelligent. He frequently has med students/interns follow him throughout the day, as he is a teacher at heart. His office staff is just as sweet. In response to the negative comment, it is completely unwarranted. Along with integrity comes responsibility. Opioid abuse IS rampant....and since this facility is NOT the reviewer's PCP, how is the doctor supposed to know his history? He fully admitted to "should have done" several things for his back pain, but failed to do so. Why is this the facility's fault, to the point where he trashes the whole practice? Dr. Patel IS conservative. He just doesn't hand out scripts (esp. antibiotics) w/o a true medical need...which is a great thing! Please ignore the negative review. Do not make this your primary doctor! When I came in and signed in they didn't even have me in their system as a primary care patient. I've been coming here for years... I've been trying to get a refill on my diabetic medications for over a week now. The pharmacy has even sent several requests and the doctor has still not gone through with it. I had been to him once before a few months prior for something minor, and he was fantastic. Boy did that change. Dr. Patel wrote me a prescription - handed it to the nurse - the nurse handed it to me, I read it over as I am a Hospice Nurse..... I stated "There is no way they will fill this.....I think it has to be dated today"........and the nurse was very kind........and took the prescription back with her. 15 minutes later, she came back in with the same RX in her hand, and I said again "I don't think they will fill it". She stated that Dr. Patel promised it would work. With 30 minutes left, I drove down the road before my pharmacy closed. And wouldn't you know.........They wouldn't fill it? I pulled out of Walmart in a second, called the office......as they were closing in about 15 minutes....and so was my pharmacy. I told them I was on my way in, and incredibly upset. The girl who answered the phone acted like she didn't even know me and I just left. I walked in, they had the door open with a patient waiting and immediately put me into a private room. The same nurse that assured me it was all Okay.......opened the door.....took one look at me....and left the room. I could hear them talking about me through the door. Tha I was a "Drug Seeker" (The prescription was for a low dose benzo to carry me until my Drs appt. A matter of days. He came into the room, stated "I didn't have to do that $shit for you, I was doing you a favor" I knew then and there.......this guy has some strikes against his record someplace. I said "FIX IT NOW - You know what you did" I was incredibly mad at this point. You did me a favor?......You made a judgement call that I have seen a hundred times in the hospital setting...about drug seekers......and all you had to do was look in the national registry that i'm telling you the truth........and you have to stick with it now. He was mad. A few days later I got into a dispute with my neighbor and The Newington Police were called after a neighbor tried to steal 2 feet of my property......I chatted with the officer......how I moved here...getting married.......hard to find a Dr........and that the only one I saw was Dr. Patel for a med's refill. Officer Desimone of the Newington Police Department, CALLED DR. PATEL TO VERIFY I WAS A PATIENT AND HE TOLD HER WHAT MEDS HE PRESCRIBED!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING?!?!?! How many HIPPA laws does that break....like 4? I referred him to the medical board, Called HIPPA, The Attorney Generals office and the police. The paperwork moves so slow...but they are close to a decision. HIPPA was shocked that a police officer and a doctor would talk about a patient, their records, and their medication history. It was jaw dropping. In my years of medicine, I have NEVER seen that before. They have moved. Their new digs put the old office (which is now a vape shop) to shame. Three stars because the hours are good - they're open 'til 8PM seven days a week. I've come here for years, both with insurance and without. The cash price is not astronomical and generally it's a fairly quick wait to be seen. However...I've had instances where they "forgot" to send the prescription to the pharmacy - in one case, they sent it to the wrong CVS. Now I just request an old fashioned paper prescription to take with me. Also, had a weird experience recently when I took my son in after several days of fever and not eating. He was checked for ear infection, strep, ruptured appendix, and given a clean bill of health - and then the female doctor rather aggressively suggested he be taken to CCMC. Um, for what? You just told me you can't find anything wrong with him. I declined and she said they'd call an ambulance. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more

Someone recommended me this place because they loved Doctor Patel...I had a different experience with a female doctor. I would not recommend her to anyone. I had been having immense headaches, sore throat, stuffy nose, and coughs since 4 days and decided to visit this place (last Sunday). The reception was okay, she wouldn't budge to say the wait time. When the doctor finally came in the room, she literally looked at me for two minutes, asked me to open my mouth and concluded it was a sore throat. She already looked in much of a rush then she left the room and came back prescribing me with antibiotics. Unprofessional and Incompetent Office Staff. I want to start out by saying that Dr. Patel seems like a really cool guy and I'm sad to have to leave this review as I have no issue with him personally. He was a pleasure to speak with every time. I found this office through my medical insurance provider and it is very close to my home so I was excited. When I made my first appointment and came into the office I was surprised to see that it was also an Urgent Care facility. I talked to Dr. Patel and he really took the steps to make sure he was prescribing something that would make me feel better and I felt like I was listened to. He prescribed me a trial run of a medication and when it was time to refill my pharmacy had issues getting a hold of his office for confirmation. After a few days I get a call that my refill is ready at my pharmacy so I go to pick it up. The pharmacist stated that the refill was for 20 MG and I was on 10 before. They asked if it was "Okay" and I was like, "I guess". I thought to myself hmm.. he didn't tell me/ we didn't talk about increasing the dosage but okay. I know I needed it so I just started taking it anyway. FIRST RED FLAG that I overlooked. I had a 90 day refill so I was expecting everything to go smoothly at my next time of refill. CVS called me to let me know what the office hadn't responded back to them with approval to refill. I called and left a voicemail requesting a refill. I had about a weeks worth of medication left luckily. NO answer for a number of days. I start to feel concerned and drive to CVS and speak with a pharmacist and they personally call while I was there hoping to expedite the refill request. NO response. I finally get a call a few days later from a lady in the office stating that I need an "evaluation". I was a little confused but, it made sense as he'd probably want to talk and see how the medication was working for me, side effects etc. I just wish I would have been notified at least 2 weeks before I was out of my medication. It was unnecessarily stressful. SECOND RED FLAG. They refill my prescription and I set up a time to have blood work done and talk to Dr. Patel as requested. I get the blood work done and speak to Dr. Patel via a Facetime like situation due to COVID and he assures me he will refill my prescription for an entire year. I was feeling relieved as getting refills had become very stressful. My 90 day supply of medication was now almost gone so i get down to about a weeks worth left and start to HOPE that Dr. Patel's office had indeed refilled my prescription with my pharmacy. I get a call from CVS saying that the prescription WASN'T REFILLED and that they couldn't get a hold of them for any response as to why. Meanwhile at this time I have one pill left. I frantically leave an immediate voicemail on a Friday to PLEASE refill my prescription as I have one pill left and requested to have it refilled at 10MG instead of 20 as I would like to start to wean myself off of it going forward. I made sure to repeat my name and request just in case in the voicemail. Friday night rolls around and no response from the office or CVS saying it was refilled. Now I have no choice but to go COLD TURKEY. From 20MG of an antidepressant to 0. This is NOT GOOD. I felt okay Saturday and Sunday day until when i needed to fall asleep. Sunday night I started to feel dizzy. I didn't think i'd have withdrawals this fast but I did some research and everyone is different. I was 48 hours into NO medication. I was no also experiencing Insomnia! It took me 5 hours so fall asleep because the doctor's office could not refill a simple and IMPORTANT prescription when i was previously told it would already be filled. Monday morning and I wake up exhausted and dizzy as I am very obviously having withdrawls. I call Dr. Patel's office first thing and speak with the lady at the front desk. I was furious and upset as to why this was even an issue but, I was trying to be polite as I know it wasn't the receptionists fault. I needed to be stern though as I left a voicemail Friday. After speaking for a few moments explaining that i need a refill and I'm having withdrawals she asks, "you need a refill?". I repeated, Yes! I'm flabbergasted thinking to myself.." Is she even listening to me?". She says I need an evaluation... In my mind I'm thinking... I ALREADY had one and did exactly what he asked me to do! Did my file not get notated correctly? I told her I already did it and that Dr. Patel said I'd be good for a full year. She said she'd have him or someone else call me today. At this point I expected NOT to hear back and waited until about 3PM before I decide to just drive up to the office and ask to speak with someone and figured out they finally refilled at the incorrect dosage. I've been going here for years, with insurance and way back when I didn't. I've ALWAYS received great care from Dr.Patel, the nursing staff, the med students that train, & the pharmacy directly next door that they'll send your prescriptions to. As we all know when your sick or hurt you tend to be miserable. Even so they're always professional, and accommodating. They tend to be busy, but you can make an appointment. Considering they literally can treat everything from diabetes, heart disease, colds, injuries, and outpatient mental health services the wait isn't too long but always worth it. read more

I feel as a woman he was shrugging me off and not listening. I once went in with a UTI and he walked in and the first thing he said is, "So, who gave it to you"? Excuse me. Not appropriate or funny. Another appointment I went in and the Head Nurse there is rude and yelled at me and I couldn't believe she was talking to me the way she was in the treatment room. I almost walked out. I had blood work done after complaining of multiple symptoms that were causing great concern and affecting my everyday life. I was NEVER called back with reviews or a follow up. Fast forward, my symptoms are not getting better. I walked in crying and fed up, bc I had been loosing feeling in my arms and getting pricker like feeling all the way from my hand to my shoulder. Dizziness, headaches and swelling in my hands. My other issue was consistent diarrhea for weeks on and off for months. This prick walks into the room barley asking me anything and with in one minute, he said, "Your symptoms make no sense". "Maybe you should stop getting botox". I didn't know wether to laugh at him or thrust my foot forward. He blew me off asked no more questions or even sat with me to discuss what could possibly be causing this. His entire body language and demeanor was very rude, laxed and he basically could give a hoot about my pain. I was in awe at his lack of professionalism. I new I had to go to another doctor fast as this guy is a joke. Not only have I found out I have sever carpal tunnel in both arms and have nerve damage losing sensations in my arms, it's going up my neck and head causing the dizziness and headaches. I sent to a hand center and suggested I need to get surgery. Do you think Dr. Patel even mentioned this could be an issue or touched my arm? I was also diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and have been put on medication. My LDL (bad cholesterol) was almost double what it should be and was NOT cancelled out by my increased HDL (good cholesterol) My new doctor could not believe he did not put me on cholesterol meds! My father dropped dead of a massive heart attack only 4 years older than I am now. Guess that didn't catch his attention either. I am so much more relaxed now that I have some answers and medications. Stick to handing out bandaids and cough sirup Dr Patel. Because you don't give a crap about your patients. I used to be a student here. Back then, this place was wonderful. Over the past year, it has gotten worse. Particularly due to Preksha Patel. Twice this year, she has prescribed medications to my fiancé that have only worsened any existing conditions. We are now broke and he is out of work because of her judgement calls and the false information about medication side effects given to him. On top of it, the evening staff of medical assistants, besides Michele, are rude and inconsiderate. I'm so glad I never got the job partially promised to me. I would have been so miserable working there. Never again will we step foot into this office. $75 dollars just for inadequate care and multiple unnecessary prescriptions? No thanks. I went there after having an elevated fever for 2 days. I had sore throat , congested cough and lower back pain with urine frequency. I am a nurse and had a Dr. listen to my lungs through 2 layers of clothes. Anyone in the medical field knows you need to lift up the fabric. She didn't check my glands nor look at my throat . Blood was drawn with no chest X-ray . She said the results would be in tomorrow. When I called they said 3 days. So that means I'd sit for 3 days with high fever with no ATB? Most unprofessional Urgent Care on the Berlin Turnpike. I had to wait 18 hours for my antibiotic to get called in after calling twice for them to send it electronically b.c there Saturday doctor must have had a date. Rushed us through the appointment, talk to me in the middle of the doorway and kept grabbing the door like I was done talking to her. The only thing she was in such a rush for is too end her career. I left the place with no discharge papers because she didn't feel like doing them at the time. Telling me they will not be ready for a while knowing I wanted to go pick up the prescription that she never sent becuase it was needed. The manager there Lana was not any more of a help than that half poop doctor they had hired. But they dont have a problem with taking your money and not providing the service. read more

BEWARE OF BILLING AND CREDIT ISSUES! I visited almost 2 years ago and their biller billed the wrong insurance and did the same with my mother. Now I have a negative credit rating because my insurance won't pay for it after contacting their biller because they were not supposed to proceed with a procedure and billed with the wrong code. Now I'm stuck as not having paid for a visit and procedure that is obviously covered by my insurance. Had that not been the case I would not have agreed. If you want to be billed almost $200 for being told you should just go to the hospital, then this is the place for you. The Doctor came into the room, looked at me, and said that I should go to the hospital. This Doctor seemed quick to pass me off to the hospital as it was close to closing time of the clinic. When I arrived to the hospital, the waiting room had 2 people ahead of me who had a similar experience, where they were quickly referred to the hospital by this same clinic. I don't have insurance and needed to see a doctor so I went to Medcare Express Urgent Care Clinic. Upon entering the office I wasn't sure what to expect but It's only $75 to be seen so I gave it a shot which I'm glad I did! I was very pleased with my entire experience. The office staff is friendly and informative. The medical assistant was very thorough as was the Med Student who evaluated me before I was seen by the doctor. Dr. Patel was very professional and thorough. He talked to me like I was on his level and was very easy going. Both the doctor and student took the time to listen to me and I never felt uncomfortable. The only complaint I have is the waiting room is very dingy and unwelcoming. It doesn't look the cleanest or well maintained which I believe is only due to the fact that the furniture is old and stained and the waiting room is not decorated at all but aside from that if I need urgent care, I'll definitely be going back to Medcare Express. read more

I never had a negative experience at medcare express until today. However after today's experience, I will never go there again. I realize that opioid pain medications are a huge problem in today's society, but under certain circumstances, they do have their place. Two weeks ago, I broke a small bone in my back and tore a large muscle. I was rushed to the emergency room after the accident. They treated me and asked me to follow up with my primary care physician. I did exactly as instructed. Over the past two weeks, I've been taking pain medicatns to ease the pain from this injury. My doctor prescribed strong meds for the first week, and then reduced the strength as my pain level lowered. My issue began the last time he reduced the strength of the pain meds. Because they weren't effective as prescribed, I decided to go to med care express today hoping to either get something slightly stronger, or a prescient that allowed me to take them a bit more often. Also, another reason I went to med care express today is because I am leaving for vacation tomorrow morning and will not have the opportunity to follow up with my pcp before leaving. The doctor refused to treat me and insisted that I follow up with my pcp tomorrow, even after I informed her that we are leaving for vacation tomorrow morning at 5:00 am. This was not a ploy to seek pain meds for recreational use. I had X-rays and the ER report showing the extent of my injuries. I also realize that I should have followed up with my pcp last week when I first realized that I wasn't doing well on the latest prescribed dose, but for whatever reason, I didn't. The part that really upset me was that no alternative was offered. I know that there are several non-narcotic pain medications that wouldn't have been quite as effective, but certainly would have reduced tbhe pain to some point. Dr. Patel is a phenomonel physician. He handled every person in my family in emergency situations. He is not only kind, he is extremely professional and knowledgeable. I would rather go to see him than my Family Practice Physician. Recently, my 12 year old daughter had to get stitches, she is terrified of needles and overly dramatic about pain - Dr. Patel was successful in calming her down and relatively a pain-free procedure. She was thrilled, and gave Dr. Patel the two thumbs up and said only Dr. Patel can give her needles now! read more

This is the last time I use this facility. Previous years the staff was helpful and thorough in getting a medical certification form completed for me. This visit was infuriating. Rude people and a disorganized reception area. I had to bring the certification form back to the office a week later because the doctor couldn't manage to sign the form properly the first time - 3 different doctor signatures, no state license number entered, and no location information provided in the required areas. Why didn't I check it before I left the first time? Cuz they LOST the form, and after searching papers and folders and cabinets they finally came across it....I was distracted and angry - relieved that they'd simply found it, so I didn't do a good review of the form. My bad. But to come back to have them correct their mistake and be treated rudely (before they even knew why I was there), and at the end of it have my form handed to me by the obnoxious nurse who didn't even LOOK at me!
