Their motto "We care when it matters most" needs to be changed to "We care only if you have money"…read more My 22 year old daughter walks in with a chest wound and a fever and because she has a balance, we didn't know about, they refused to see her. I was sick. You know the kind of sick that only happens on Saturday when your PCP…read moreis closed for two more days. Sick-sick - the kind that you just know shouldn't wait until Monday. I had an incessant cough - so bad that I was having trouble catching my breath. (Why I didn't tear my husband away from his football game and take me is still a mystery.) I hadn't been to urgent care since the middle of Covid. I figured I might as well go back to the last place I had been. They were close and in the past, quick. I got there to find them closed with a homeless person passed out in front of their entrance. Now where to go? I've had more than my share of lousy service at AFC so I continued to look. I saw Approxie care on the list of sites. I was a good 10 miles away but I at least knew where it was - I had received a (drive-thru ) Covid test there. I arrived to find one other family in the waiting area. I grabbed a mask, quickly checked in and sat in the corner to distance from the others. Check in was easy, you know the drill - hand over your cards, fill in the papers on the clipboard and have a seat. No different from most any medical encounter. I waited no more than 10 minutes when I was escorted into the exam room. A young girl - high school young - took my vitals, asked me about what was going on and swabbed me for Covid and the flu - pretty routine. In the back of my mind I wondered how a teenager was qualified to work there but she told me it was her third year in the medical program at Bob Jones. Later when I thought about it, I was impressed that Approxie was actively supporting our young people in their career paths. Dr Shah soon came in, listened to my chest - he didn't need to ask me to cough. I'm sure had heard me through the walls. He asked a few questions, listened to my chest and diagnosed me. Apparently my symptoms were textbook for walking pneumonia. It was just a gut feeling, but Dr Shah's bedside manner immediately made me trust him. He did do a chest xray to reassure me as bronchitis and I are no stranger. He prescribed a breathing treatment and antibiotics and sent me home with the standard rest and hydrate and like that, less than an hour after I entered the building, I was driving home. The only issue that I had was that Dr Shah told me to do the breathing treatment twice a day but my orders and prescription both said once a day. By the time I called the office to confirm, they were closed. The medicine had me feeling better in a couple of days though 3 weeks later I still have a cough. Approxie definitely isn't the most convenient place to my home but if and when I or a family member needs urgent care, this is the place we are coming too. I really can't say enough about the care I received.

The nursing staff is amazing too. At my last visit, Sheila was very professional, courteous, and thorough with my consultation. The office was very crowded that day and she checked on me during my wait as well as kept me updated throughout my visit. She is a great nurse! I always have a great experience here and will continue to come in the future.

Ah, American Family Care, where great medical care from the Dr's and Nurses and local staff meets…read morebilling department chaos in a symphony of incompetence. If you're looking for a clinic that can treat you but excels in ignoring your secondary insurance requirements and botching even the simplest instructions directly given to them by the insurer, look no further. This is the place for you! It's honestly impressive how determined they are to not follow directions. I watched in awe as my secondary insurer, a living, breathing human being, literally spoke to them on the phone and explained exactly what was needed. Like, step-by-step, as if talking to a toddler with a billing system. Did that help? Of course not! Why let clear communication ruin a good disaster? Instead, American Family Care billing department decided to go rogue. They billed incorrectly (again), sent the wrong billing codes (bravo), and then didn't even provide the additional information requested by the secondary insurer. And don't worry, if you're hoping for updates or resolution, just sit back and wait forever. Their follow-up skills are so advanced, they've transcended the concept of time entirely. Emails? Vanished. Callbacks? Hilarious. Accountability? nah...But wait, it gets better. Ever try to email them? Or send a letter? You might as well attach your message to a balloon and hope it floats into the right office. Responses are rarer than a solar eclipse. Apparently, their inbox is a black hole where accountability goes to die. And their physical mail? Probably stacked under someone's lunch leftovers. If you enjoy endless phone calls, re-explaining the same thing fifteen times, and playing detective just to get your bills corrected for care you already paid for with the primary insurance congratulations! You've found your happy place. In short: great place if you want to feel like you're participating in a billing scavenger hunt with no prize at the end. But you will get treated. Avoid unless you're trying to test your patience and sanity or writing a thesis on bureaucratic failure. Primary insurer, no problem...Secondary-DISASTER-no clue what they're doing but it's not the right thing. All the work they put in for $35 far exceeds the return they would get. Amazing.

Sure, there is a long wait here sometimes....its a walk in clinic lol what do people expect. I had my monthly visit today, was out in under 2 hours, and this was on the longer wait side. It's not that bad. For quality care and a doctor with EMPATHY...I'll take it. Thanks to everybody at Horizon's for helping me struggle my way out of a major hole. I had the mask on for a total of 15 minutes. I put it on when i got there, as a courtesy, in case i was positive for covid. She made me feel like a joke. Imagine going to the doctors office, paying a copay, waiting to be seen, only to be told that "Oh, your ears are probably hurting from the mask". I explained to her my other symptoms and she said she would call in medicine. Four hours go by, as i'm waiting for my pharmacy to call me. I call them first and realize Hillary Pennington never sent it over. I had to call her Urgent Care office back and let them know that she never called it in. I never got an apology. This was my first visit and I am disappointed by the lack of professionalism. Secondly, my husband has been there twice in 10 days for an ear infection. He has been misdiagnosed twice and going to a different doctor to get a proper diagnosis. He was seen by Dr. Ehtisham Khan. The medication he prescribed did nothing. I know there are different types of antibiotics for inner, middle, and/or outer ear infections. So to sum it all up, just go somewhere else. Don't be like me and waste time, money, and energy at this place. It makes it all worse when you are sick and being treated this way. If you want a doctor who genuinely cares about you and wants to help you, literally go anywhere else. I hope this review is helpful.
