It's usually an annual thing so I know what to expect. Visiting from out of town though, I usually end up seeing someone that won't listen, and ignores what I have done previously. The PA here is outstanding. We were seen very quickly, and he listened, and was really friendly, which isn't so common in today's world. Though he usually prescribed a different course of medication, he listened to what works for me. Thanks to him, the pneumonia was stopped at bronchitis. I am not usually impressed with urgent care clinics but this place is top notch. Quick, friendly, and a nice smooth visit.

When I questioned why I needed an appointment since this was an urgent care facility, the staff's response was that I should have used the online tool to make the appointment before leaving Timberline so I could better time my arrival! I've been back and forth with my sons insurance carrier for a card (we have NEVER received one) The receptionist this morning was miserable, told me she couldn't find any information on him (when the time that passed was barely 2 minutes) then when I asked about paying out of pocket she said "well it's like $199" so I'm like okay, I'll do that, to which she replied, but if you want us to submit it to your insurance it's actually $240. Well at that I just left. Not that I couldn't afford it, but I felt that she just couldn't be bothered any longer. So we left and went to the ED at Washington hospital, was in and out and they found his insurance information in literally 3 minutes.

I went to their psychiatry office back in January to set up an appointment. When I spoke to the…read morewoman to set up the appointment I informed her I was already diagnosed with bipolar disorder II and needed to set up an appointment with a psychiatrist to try to start on medications. She asks why, and I tell her my behavioral and mood problems have always been mild, so I managed without for the longest time (had it for 13 years already) and use coping skills to deal with that, but I started having hallucinations at night and my symptoms (irritability, insomnia, etc) have been worsening as I'm getting older. I also had questions about insurance and, looking up my insurance or at least acting like she was, she informed me I'd only have the copay and my insurance was going to cover the rest for the appointment. I set the appointment. It only took a month (everywhere else I tried had a waiting list), and I had my sit down with who I believed was a psychiatrist, as that's who the front desk woman told me my appointment was with. At the end of the hour of questioning, the "doctor" I was speaking to told me I'm NOT bipolar, but that I have depression with symptoms of mania (essentially what bipolar II is)...But calling my problems a different name really doesn't make them go away. She tells me I need to take medication (mind you, she doesn't answer ANY of my questions, doesn't even acknowledge that I HAVE questions, every time I asked a question she changes the subject and asked something else), and then asks if I want to set up an appointment see a psychiatrist. Upon expressing my confusion, she clarifies with "Oh I'm a counselor. Most people know that when they come in for their appointment." If someone sets up an appointment with a psychiatrist, are being told they'll being talking to a psychiatrist, then that's who they expect to talk to...a psychiatrist. Oh well. It was only $50 wasted I thought, except now (4 months later) I have a bill for over $300 from them because apparently my insurance DIDN'T cover that little meeting. My experience with them was very unprofessional and to be honest, you're frankly better off on a waiting list somewhere (ANYWHERE) else.

Due to the fact that it was late evening, I went on line to check on or for the ability to schedule an appointment. I scheduled a 10:00 AM appointment. From watching those being called sent through for exam, it didn't seem to matter whether or not you had an appointment or walk in. All seem to be put in a que for examination. It has taken over 2 hours to be seen, x-rayed and a consultation of the results. Up side the Staff is personable, down side what is with the online scheduling if it doesn't matter if you walk-in or show up at the scheduled appointment time?

For example, when I need shoe inserts or something from podiatry, they send you out in town instead of just having shoe inserts don in house. Appointments are pretty quick. I havent waited a long time for appointments, so far maybe two weeks or so. The doctors and staff are friendly for the most part. One really bad thing here is the parking. They have valet parking tours can use but I dont like having to do that I dont want strangers driving my ride around. So you have to park pretty far away if you dont have an early morning appointment because all the spots will be taken. I do like the guest wifi internet, and I think one best thing here in the food area is the sandwich station, or the breakfast stuff (the ham and cheese omelet with extra cheese is really good.) Overall, I think it's a good place for everyday medical services. It's not the "nicest" facility, but I've seen far worse in my day. A solid three stars for this spot.

My previous expereince with VA hospitals was in Fresno, California in a work study program my…read moresenior year in college in the early 70's. Worked for the Chief of Pscychology who ran a alcohol rehab program. An in house program and the Veterans use to hide their contraband alcohol bottles on the grounds of the hospital. So depressing!! Fast forward I now use the Clarksburg VA medical center for all of my medical needs now that I am retired and living in West Virginia. The VA system has so changed from my earlier expereince. The cleanliness is what I noticed first and the friendliness of the staff. The medical test equipment is the best in the area. There is a clinic devoted to female veterans that is incredible. I know the names of all the Nurses and Doctors in the Pink Clinic. My General Practitioner is the best female doctor I have ever known. My husband, not a Veteran, likes to eat in the hospital cafeteria. He has favorite staff members and talks about visiting them like old friends. The gorgeous West Virginia scenery is the first best thing about retiring in West Virginia and the second is using the Clarksburg VA for my medical needs.
