After installation, service has been glitchy at best. It may run at 1 gig, then open a new tab and, presto. No internet connection. I've cycled through 3 different modems in as many months. If you can find dsl, I'd recommend that, otherwise, youll be dealing with glitchy at Mediacom. read more

I am filing this complaint due to misleading information, poor communication, and delays regarding a refund for internet service equipment. I was initially told that true fiber-to-the-home internet service was available and would be installed at my residence. However, I was sent a cable modem instead of fiber equipment. Because I understand the difference between cable internet and fiber-to-the-home service, I contacted customer support before the installation appointment to confirm the correct service was being installed. During that call, I was reassured multiple times that fiber-to-the-home service would be installed and that the technician would arrive with the proper equipment. When the technician arrived the following day, he informed me that he did not perform fiber-to-the-home installations and did not have the ability to install the service I had been promised. Based on that information, I immediately canceled the installation. I was then told I would need to return the equipment before the refund process could begin. I returned the equipment within approximately one hour of cancellation. After returning the equipment, I was told the refund would be processed within 48 hours. It has now been over 96 hours, and after contacting customer service again, I was given conflicting information and told the refund would take an additional 3-4 days, with representatives stating there was nothing they could do to expedite the matter. My concerns are: - Misrepresentation of the type of internet service being offered - Inaccurate information provided by customer support - Poor coordination between customer service and field technicians - Delayed refund processing despite immediate equipment return read more

This company genuinely disgusts me!!!! I wish there was an option to give zero stars cause I would do it in a heartbeat. They're constantly raising prices when they don't even give the speeds they promise, and don't even get me started on the outage. We've have Mediacom for years now. The first part of our service was decent. Now, the Internet is slow, it's unreliable and it's not very good. The price is expensive when you compare it to others' prices. Even after calling for service they get it up and running but it's still slow. I wouldn't recommend this if you're hosting a website or anything on a server. Gaming is horrendous. read more

I've had problems for many months and FINALLY they sent a Supervisor to the house 3 weeks ago and he promised that I would either have good service and as of yet I've gotten neither! This is the worst company in the central Missouri area. They force me to pay a month in advance they you get no service! I frequently stay at a hotel in Jefferson City every other night for work purposes. Mediacom is by far the worst internet and cable provider I have witnessed in this entire world. I had better internet service while I was stationed at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Today is currently October 17, 2017 and there is a playoff baseball game being broadcast on TBS. The tv is currently showing a no signal message on the TBS channel only and all other channels are working. This is a common issue that I experience every time I am out here. If I was a paying customer I would most definitely cancel my subscription with this horrible internet and cable provider. We definitely need more options in Jefferson City. Mediacom internet is so unreliable it will quit working randomly for no reason. Try to watch videos it will have to buffer or give an error message that says "unable to connect to internet". If they paid attention to what the customers tell them they would redo their entire network of cables, routers,switches and hubs and could be a real value for the customers. But they have old wires in the ground and they disregard that as an issue. If they haven't they should update their backbone with fiber optics, and get some folks that know how to run a large network. As it sits they are mediocrecom. read more

Mediacom has really done it today. But I think we might have won. According to them we haven't paid since April. But we owed $ 82 to pay it off. Ummmmm I wish our bill was $20 a month. Idiots. This after 4 months of service calls about internet drops, slow internet constantly, non working DVR 2 months in a row, bad wiring outside because they ran it through tree limbs. Being told one service date only to be told it wasn't ever an option. Being told we'd be sent new equipment only to have it never arrive and then finding out it was never ordered. Not sure these people have a pulse much less any level of business acumen. I live in a nice home on the West end of Jefferson City, Mo. I recognize they have an easement to work with on two sides of my corner lot and respect their right to access it. In adding new cable to our street these cowboys DESTROYED a considerable part of my lawn ( deep ruts, rocks, piles of dirt, holes, killed large sections of lawn) in two large locations. They also cut existing phone/internet and took out a whole zone of my sprinkler system. Did a tech check for damages? Nope. Did they ring the doorbell to make sure we were pleased with their repair? What repair? I don't expect a return to a manicured lawn but I didn't expect the trash service that they left behind. Did I call them? Sure, 4 times so far, in the last 6 weeks or so, but I didn't get the local office, I got different call centers each time all over the country. Nothing's been done. Still no call back. Mediacom has my contact info; I'm sure it's in several trash cans all over the Midwest. The local office has a phone number listed but when you call the phone tree there it asks if you want to speak to an "operator" upon which the phone HANGS UP. Now that's customer service. I would sit in the dark before I bought Internet or TV from these guys. read more

Horrible!!!!! We need m ore options in Jefferson City!! My elderly parents had issues with their phone and two trucks with two young men came. The problem fixed itself before they came but they stood around whispering. They not only were rude and did not communicate with my parents but wondered through their house in areas that had nothing to do with the issue! On top of that when my mom stated she was uncomfortable they went down stairs and were looking through my dads work shop of tools. She called Mediacom to report what happened and they said a supervisor would come out the next day and gave her a two hour window. Their alarm system mysteriously stopped working!! The next morning ADT came out and said that their system had been tampered with!! My mom then called Mediacom and they said they didn't have anyone coming out and they didn't see what the problem was. It is Labor Day weekend and I really feel like they were being set up to be robbed! I am livid Mediacom did nothing to address this at all! I contacted the police department there and they sent someone out immediately! I hope the workers and the supervisor have to deal with a police report. Please beware of this company! If you are moving into the Jefferson City market area where Mediacom provides cable and internet service, DO NOT SIGN UP. If you are already a Mediacom customer in this area, you know what I am about to say. Their service is horrible. Every time there is a slight wind, the cable freezes and/or goes out. Forget about trying to work online or do anything online that requires a constant connection. This is a classic example of a business getting a monopoly from a city (cable TV franchise) and then doing absolutely nothing to provide even the most basic of services you pay them for. I have purchased the most expensive and high powered router and still get booted off the internet on EACH AND EVERY SESSION. I have had to log in and refresh the page for this yelp review twice in this short amount of time. On 3 occasions I have had a serviceman from Mediacom come to my house to fix the problems to no affect whatsoever. I became persistent with him the last time to give me an answer as to why my service is so poor. He finally admitted that years ago when Mediacom bought out the former local provider, they did no upgrades to their hardware and just keep installing fixes that slow their systems down and result in lost signals. We have a business here that is granted a monopoly, continues to rake in their service fees from 10s of thousands of customers, and spends none of that guaranteed income to provide even an average service. Since they went to a digital format last year the problems have gotten worse. I cannot for the life of me understand how the City allows them to keep the franchise. My advice to you is to do the same as I will be the rest of today, searching for a satellite or phone provider to get rid of this horrendous Mediacom cable and internet service. read more
