I strongly urge anyone considering this company to stay far away. Their business practices are deceptive and predatory. They initially offered me a competitive rate, which they claimed was fixed, only to dramatically increase the rate a few months later without any clear notice. My bill nearly doubled overnight. Customer service was no help -- every time I called, I got vague answers or was told someone would follow up, which never happened. They made it nearly impossible to cancel, and even tried to charge me a termination fee, despite their misleading contract terms. They prey on people who are trying to save money and end up costing you way more in the long run. I feel completely taken advantage of. This company scammed me. A man named Christopher came to my apartment door on a Saturday. He had an ID badge and tablet. I definitely should not have opened my door but I did, and he told me he was there to offer a reimbursement on my utilities bill, and that it would show up in the next 1-2 billing cycles. I recently moved here from California, and when I lived in CA, I received a discount on my energy bill for a few months through the state. So, I thought it was a similar concept and did not question this. I did ask him why and where the money came from to reimburse me, and he did not give me a straight answer. He asked for my full name, address, and he took pictures of my gas and electric bills and the account numbers. I also signed an agreement and he had an automated number call me asking me a bunch of questions regarding the agreement. This man was at my door for almost half an hour. After he left, I looked at the agreement that was texted to me and it said I was enrolled with Median Energy. Upon further internet searching, I saw that they use your account number to switch your gas/electric over to Median. I definitely felt ashamed for falling for this, so I am writing this to make sure others know what to look out for. The agreement said I had 3 business days to cancel, so I called on Monday morning and after about 15 minutes I was able to cancel my account. The agent on the phone was pleasant and easy to talk to, but during the call he found out Christopher had signed me up 3 times/I had 3 different accounts. If you do sign their agreement, make sure to cancel ASAP. I was not charged anything, but for the foreseeable future I will be keeping a close eye on my bills. Median Energy should be utterly ashamed for utilizing such sneaky tactics. read more

This company is now in PA and is telling people they are associated with Peco. This scumbag said Peco wanted to come out and change my gas meter and he needed to see my bill to make sure the changes had been made. He then proceeds to sign me up for the service. I clarified that I didn't want to switch from my provider and he told me he wasn't making any changes. I called Peco and they informed me, that he signed me up for Median energy. Peco told me which company this was because the man who came to my house said he was a Peco agent. He sent a message to my phone and deleted it after he finished. This should be illegal to completely lie to a consumer and sign them up for services under false pretenses or after the "rep" has been told you dont want services. Some guy came at my door telling me that he was working for ESCO clean energy and that I was gonna pay less for being their costumer. So I gave it a shot since I could cancel at any time. I checked my two first billing circles with Median Energy and it resulted that I was paying more then with conEdison. ConEdison supply cost approximately was: for Electricity = 8c per kWh and for Gas = 36c per therm. Median Energy supply cost approximately was: for Electricity = 17c per kWh and for Gas = 84c per therm. They are just a bunch of SCAMMERS, I would highly recommend everyone to STAY AWAY FROM MEDIAN ENERGY and any other ESCO SUPPLIER. Two very friendly young men came to my apartment wearing badges and saying they were representatives from Con Edison here to refund a delivery charge on my bill. They took my account # and "verified my ID." After they left my building I get a text with my signature FORGED on a contract that I never saw, signing me up for Median Energy Corp. The name of this company was not mentioned once in our interaction or on their badges. I have no reason to believe there isn't identity theft happening here because now they have a photo of my ID. Please be advised these people are not who they say they are, they take pictures of our id's and say they will be removing taxes off our bills but it is not true. If you pay attention to when they fill out our information when signing up with them they don't select the table option in the top of the website. Instead they select d2d which stands for door to door. With that being said this means they need to preform a third party verification call with the company of median in order for them to proceed with supposedly helping us with our bill they are committing fraud. This is a dishonest company that should not be allowed to operate in any state. Sales reps lie saying that they work for your local utility company and that you are due a refund because you were overcharged, all in an effort to get you to show them your bill. Then they surreptitiously copy your account number and switch your supplier to Median. Without your knowledge or your consent. Without a sales pitch for their product - which probably is more expensive than what you pay now since they rely exclusively on deception to get your business. Do not open the door to these scammers! I made the mistake of doing so and they switched my service. I am now in the process of pursuing a Public Service Commission, BBB, and Attorney General complaint. I don't understand why these practices are tolerated or legal! I strongly encourage any enterprising law firm out there to put together a class and sue them in federal court since they operate in several states. read more

I had a very bad experience. In February 2020, a black lady knocked my door and said, she is from conEdison. I thought, she is really from conEdison, she wants to see my electricity bills. She watched my e-bill and told me 'the price is very high' she put my e-account number in her device, then told me 'the price will go down from next month'. I just realized that, she is not from conEdison, she is from Median Energy, she lied to me. She changed my company from conEdison to Median Energy. She may got some benefits for doing this. This company, an ESCO (Energy Savings Corp), does door-to-door sales, as other ESCOs do. On Jan. 6, 2020, a rep was in our building in Manhattan, and after being asked to leave by 4 different residents, he continually refused, got argumentative and confrontational. 911 was called, and the man finally left on his own, but not before ringing more doorbells in front of us as we kept requesting him to leave. I've spoken with the police, our building mgmt. and the company, who was apologetic, but still, no excuse for aggressive marketing tactics on private property while being asked to vacate the premises. read more

I was told that this company would help me save money on my utility bills. However, they doubled and then next month almost quadrupled my regular utility bills (gas and electric). My normal monthly $150 to $200 electric bill had came in at $1,200 and my gas bill which I only use for heat was $370 (I was charged during May, warm month, no heat had been used). I called and was told they could help me with $255 of my electric bill and nothing on gas and they were doing me a courtesy. What a joke???? More than a month later and still haven't received my lil punk check of $255. Guess what they have no answers as to why. I'm writing this review so others won't get sucked into this scam. I too am a part of all of the below reviews and got completely SCAMMED. A man by the name of Eric Marmol knocked on my door, showed his badge and all very believable items proving that he represented Con Ed and was trying to help my husband and I have a lower electric/gas bill. He was very convincing and provided me with his direct cell and full name (if that's even his) and assured me our bill would be so much lower and that eventually everyone will need to make the switch over in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, etc. in order to have green energy in an attempt to fix the current pollution and poor environment. I am not a gullible person at all, I am very cut and dry and typically don't even answer the door but he was extremely convincing that this was truly what the process was meant for, only to better the environment and put a few more dollars in our pockets each month. He also had a young girl with him that he was claiming to be "training", hopefully she smartened up and got herself out, who knows. Anyway, our first bill was low but then the next two were increasingly higher and I couldn't understand this. I called Con-Ed and explained the situation and the rep sort of heavy breathed as if she'd heard this all before. She felt very sorry that I was scammed and put in for a de-enrollment right away however she warned I may be charged a cancellation fee from the ESCO company which I am now dreading to deal with. This is absolutely despicable to take advantage of people living in high rent buildings as it is, trying to build a career in this big city and now I'm down more money than I had to begin with. I thought I'd learned my lesson not to trust but this severely opened my eyes to the disgust that is out there praying on innocent people. LIARS! ILLEGAL! I received a call on a Saturday evening from my tenant's daughter who told me Con Edison was at the house and wanted access to the meters. I asked to be put on the phone with the COn Edison representative who i asked to confirm she was with Con Edison and she did. I was skeptical and asked several times, specifically, and she confirmed. I then told my tenant it was ok to let her in...man what a mistake! the next day when i came to the house, my tenant handed me a MEDIAN ENERGY sales contract (signed by my tenants 13yr old daughter). I was dumbfounded. They enrolled me in the name of going green after I clearly told them that I was locked in for 3 years and i didn't wish to end my services. Thank God my supplier immediately alerted me threatening tok charge me early termination fees. I was approached by Loretta Agent. She tried to write down the wrong agent number but I caught on. They lie about who they are, who sent them and tell you they will eliminate a major portion of the charges on your electric bill because your local utility is overcharging you. The most dishonest, deceptive tactic I've ever experienced from a sales person. Before you know it, you're contracted with a new supplier for your electricity. I was reviewing her bill after she received a ridiculously high invoice and noticed Median Energy listed. She has always been with Con Ed so I called Median and found out they switched her over without her consent or knowledge! I was told they had her voice recorded consenting to the switch. I had to ask for that recording several times before I was sent some inaudible thing. I think it's horrendous that they can switch someone over without a signature. I insisted to speak with a "supervisor" who after going back and forth issued my mother a check for the "overcharges". It is very hard to understand their system so I don't know if what my mother will receive is correct, since their whole system is built on lies. But I thought young people are just young so you can't do anything. After thy left I checked online to make sure we didn't get scammed. All the reviews said they were scammed. I called con Edison and asked if they work with median energy and they said no. Don't let them in. They wear a lanyard with their company written on it (median energy).
