I met with Grossman to swap out a toilet & the water controls in a shower (non-emergency service call). Matt came to my house to provide an estimate. We scheduled a time for him to return a few days later (11/2020). They came and they did a good job. There were no economic surprises. They cleaned up their mess and everything works fine. Because it was late in the night and the nature of the work, they had promised us they would come first thing in the morning. Fast forward to the following morning day: they came exactly at the time they'd promised and got the job done at the time they'd estimated. They also walked me through what work needed to be done (i.e. upgrading the existing exhaust to the chimney as ours is not up to code, replacing x valve, etc...), which was nice and assuring. Matt was here yesterday and in no time had taken off the unit, assessed the problem(the cartridge behind the handle) needed to be replaced. He left to get the replacement and was back in no time. He's personable, knowledgeable, neat, goes above and beyond (he changed the shower head that I never got to do, checked the water temperature on my hot water heater since I had lowered it but wasn't sure if I could lower it some more, asked about my whole house sediment filter: when was it last changed, explained the handles on my water supply and how turning only one would shut off water, went over pressure relief valves) and was very reasonable. We have used various local plumbers over the years. The most honest, on time, and responsive is Grossman Plumbing. We wouldn't use anyone else. At the end of last heating season, I noticed one of my radiators (circulating hot water heating system) was not putting any heat out until I manually opened the bleed valve (it was an automatic valve that was supposed to remove air automatically). I had Dave in, and he apologized because he had just converted his truck from carrying winter supplies to carrying summer supplies, so he wouldn't be able to fix the heating until the next heating season. So, I made an appointment for him to come in September and look at the system. It was a good thing that I did, because the automatic water fill valve, expansion tank and pressure regulator on the system were broken. This meant that there was no way for the system to refill itself when the water got low, and as Dave showed me, the boiler was just about to become bone dry. He replaced everything that needed replacing (including new bleeder valves on all the radiators) for a very fair and reasonable price. A lesser plumber might have just fixed what I was concerned with, and then waited until my boiler ran dry and broke. Dave did a first rate job of finding the problems in the system and fixing them all. Plumbers just don't come better than Grossman. If you want it done right, choose Grossman Plumbing. We had a leaking pipe and called Grossman. They had great reviews on Yelp so we decided to give them a try. They arrived a few hours past their scheduled time but we didn't mind. A father and son team arrived and they took their time with everything - they didn't rush. I had them over to fix a leaking pipe in a very old house, had them check two fireplace inserts, another leak which decided to stop leaking, and remove an old gas line from a bbq grill. They were extremely reasonable and didn't nickel and dime us. I trusted them right from the start and would highly recommend them to anyone. Grossman's was highly recommended to me by our Mahwah Mom's group. I gave them a call and they said they would be at my house within 15 Minutes! I was so surprised especially because it was so close to the holiday. They checked everything it and replaced my thermostat. They followed up the next morning to make sure the heat was still working. I was extremely happy with their service. I called them for a second time when the weather dropped down to single digits because my furnace shut off and it fell below 66 degrees in my house. Within 10 Minutes Dave was at my house. Not only did he get the furnace back up and running but he also brought a space heater since the weather would be in single digits the next few days and he wanted to make sure me and my son were warm. It is no wonder that this company has a 5 star rating from every client who has taken the time to review them. A few days ago I went into the garage only to find water all over the floor. I went to the utility corner where the furnace and water heater is, and sure enough the water heater was dripping and leaking. (it was a solid 12-13 years old and I knew it was only a matter of time). It's been awhile since I needed a plumber so I went on Yelp and read Grossman Plumbing reviews. I called and spoke with Matt who came by the house to survey the situation within 2 hours of our conversation, only for him to find a leaking water heater in a very small space . The problem was the 40 gallon tank I had was 18" in diameter with pipes around it and most water heaters today are 20" diameter and that dimension seemed to measure too tight. Matt called many suppliers in my presence, all of which were saying the 20" diameter is standard now and If it wouldn't fit I could go for a 30 gallon tank at 18" inches diameter. which is more money and special ordered... No one stocks it. I didn't want to go down to a 30 gallon tank and so we decided to go with the standard 20" diam, he would order it, and hope with some adjustment it would make it. And thats how we left it. Later that afternoon Matt called me to tell me he researched it further and was able to secure a 19" Rheem, which we knew would be perfect, and came back the next morning and installed it. The installation went great, neat and clean and I could not be happier that he solved a potential problem of space. Dave came to quote me on a new gas hot water heater in May. I only had him come back to install it 2 days ago. The quote from 3 months ago was honored. The old hot water heater was removed and negotiated thru my narrow stairway out into the garage without any wall scratches. New one installed and upgraded from 3" flue to 4" to comply with code, and so far so good. Since it's my first time owning a house, previously owned a Condo, I was clueless to many thing that consisted on maintaining anything that deals with a house, especially a 100yr old house. I was a cast iron radiator system and have always been told that it's the best thing to have for heating. Our first winter last year we weren't sure what we were doing when it came to adjusting the thermostat to our comfort. We would bring the thermostat up higher than what a normal working system would and paid a lot during that cold winter in gas. This fall, we decided to call a professional plumber to look at the system and give us an idea what was wrong and how much it would be to get it fixed. Needless to say I was extremely scared of not only finding a true professional but someone who was honest, reliable and reasonable with pricing. I went to Davidson Plumbing to et advise and they recommended Matt (Grossman Plumbing and Heating). They swore by his work and were making sure that I understood he was very reliable and honest. I gave him a shot and I can't express how happy I am with his work ethics, works like a gentleman, very honest and reasonably priced. He swapped 2 radiators for me, changes all my vent valves (which were old and painted) and 3 control air valves, regulated the system for me and now my system works 1000x's better, these past few months I have been able to see the difference in the temperature setting (which now I can leave it at 72degrees and my home is nice and warm),to even seeing a lower gas bill.
