I had encountered a con artist who had a reputation of cheating people and I now wasn't sure who to trust. It turned out they sold scooters and the entire process could not have been more wonderful. I was recovering from ill health, and they accommodated my circumstances very kindly. They brought a selection of scooters out to me, so I could try them and determine which suited my needs. Knowledgeable, forthright, kind, and generous are words I think exemplify how they run their company. They know a scooter means independence to me, and they worked to get one to me quickly. I truly felt it was important to them. I so appreciated the personal service, and I see this reflected in the warranties and service policies they offer as well. I now know that there are unsavoury characters in this field. It's why I think it's so important for people to know that Proactive is the direct opposite of that. It is run by people who truly care and want the best for you and will work with you to find the best solution. Then I asked if he knew where I could find the supplies and he said; I can't give you our vendors/suppliers name; just Google it. Update: Six months later I get a response.... if I still need? I purchased what I needed from another business six months ago. I contacted the business through the very same yelp page that I reviewed. A few hours later, the pain hadn't lessened and found her unable to sit up. Poor roomie! "Should we get you one of those donut cushions?" I joked. "Yes! I think I'm going to need one," she replied in a much more serious tone. How do I even know about donut cushions? My mom had one when I was a kid. I even used that thing as a sit upon for camp. While we contemplated where we could find one for her, I remembered this medical supply store down in Bridgeland that I've passed many times before on my walk into downtown. The wheelchairs in the window made it stuck out as the "old people's store" in my head. They had to have a donut cushion! And they did. Healthcare & Rehab Specialties is run by Karen and Murray. Murray was the one helping me out with the donut cushion. "How big is your friend's behind?" Murray asked quite seriously. I've never measured. "Normal?" Came my reply. How do you give an approximation of the size of your roommate's ass? "You know what? If it would fit me, it would also fit her," was my final answer. No need to call a friend! As he rung up our purchase (it shows up as the "invalid cushion" on the receipt), Murray informed me that they were not so much a store just for the old and the not-so-mobile, they also carried massage supplies, exercise balls, dyna-bands and a variety of other healthcare supplies. Who would've thunk?? If it hadn't been for a bruised tailbone, I would've continued on thinking that Healthcare & Rehab Supplies would be a stopover for my more elder contacts.
