Being unfamiliar with makerspaces, I wasn't really sure what to expect but because I was so desperate to do pottery and my previous pottery studio was already maxed out on memberships, I decided to explore what they had and take the pottery clearance class. In case you're new to it like me, a makerspace is sort of a big workshop with tools and supplies for crafts and arts that might be too large scale or expensive for a home set-up. The Rivet has 8 pottery wheels, a laser cutter, a 3D printer, a jewelry studio, a woodworking area, soon will have textiles and sewing, and probably even more that I'm forgetting about! The way it works is you take a clearance class, which goes over some of the basics (very basic!) and how to use the space and clean up after yourself. I think most clearance classes are around $12. They do not go into teaching techniques for those (or at least not the pottery one). However... they do have lots of classes that DO go over techniques! They have wheel throwing pottery classes as well as some handbuilding, but they also have classes for their other stations. I'm taking a jewelry class next month that I'm pretty excited about. Their prices for everything seem very reasonable, course fees and material fees all seem about average for this sort of thing. Since my only experience so far is their pottery area, the access pass is $7 for a half day (4 hours) or $12 for a full day (8 hours). They also offer monthly memberships but those seem pricier and I'm not sure if my visits will make it worth it (at least for now). I really appreciate that the clay is priced based on what you fire, not what you take as wet clay. I'm still pretty new to wheel-throwing and am in dire need of practice, not necessarily making a lot to keep but practicing throwing so that eventually I can fire a lot. Wheel throwing is difficult and takes time so I'm appreciative that I don't have to pay for all my failures, hah! I think their price is $4/lb for things before they go in the kiln for the first time. A little more than some places but that includes glazes and two firings, so I think it ends up being pretty reasonable. The space has always been clean and the people who work and volunteer there are SO nice. This is really a great way to learn new skills and meet new makers in the community. Was offered Free Samples, and then offered a Flight which was great, and allowed us to sample nearly every wine. Left buying a case. Went back before Christmas and got to try another few wines we missed on our first visit. Bought another case. Had some transaction issues the first time, but the owners emailed me a copy of the receipt, which was awesome customer service.

Love the winery, the live music events, and the cottage! :) We stayed at the Cottage on this last visit and it was so awesome! Very cozy and well appointed with everything we needed on our visit. The downstairs has a full kitchen & bath as well as cozy livingroom with TV. Upstairs are 2 cozy bedrooms with everything we needed to make for a great stay! I would not recommend Scotch Valley Country Club as a wedding reception venue. We had our wedding…read morehere June 2026. The venue itself is beautiful, the food was excellent, and the event staff were friendly and attentive. We had an amazing time celebrating with our family and friends. Unfortunately, the planning process and overall experience leading up to the wedding were far more stressful than they should have been. The biggest issue was communication. Our coordinator was always pleasant, but communication was extremely disorganized. It often took multiple calls and emails to receive a response, and we were repeatedly asked for information that had already been provided, including menu selections and other event details. There were also several important details that were either poorly communicated or not included in the contract, creating unnecessary confusion throughout the planning process. Future couples should be aware that the venue provides very little beyond basic tables and chairs. We were responsible for supplying many items ourselves, including linens and napkins. We also encountered confusion regarding what was included in our package, such as dinnerware and linens, which resulted in last-minute scrambling and additional expenses. One of our biggest frustrations involved the bar service. We were required to pay a mandatory 22% gratuity for the bartenders, totaling approximately $1,000. Because of this, we specifically requested that no tip jars be displayed during the reception. Despite this request, tip jars were placed at the bar and remained visible throughout the evening even after someone from our party asked that they be removed. We felt our wishes were disregarded despite following the venue's gratuity policy. We also experienced miscommunication regarding cleanup. My mother, grandmother, and I all understood that our décor would be boxed up at the end of the night. Instead, we were left to handle it ourselves after many of the people who would have helped had already left. Another disappointing issue involved our wedding cake. We had three full sheet cakes in addition to our wedding cake, yet after the reception we discovered that an entire tier of our wedding cake was gone. We were never consulted about how leftover cake should be handled or what should be saved. When we raised our concerns, we were told the cake had been cut and plated "as a favor" and that no specific instructions had been provided. While we appreciate the intention, we were disappointed that such a significant decision was made without our input. The response we received felt dismissive and did not adequately address our concerns. Couples should also be aware of additional fees and restrictions. Outside food vendors are not permitted except for desserts, serving the bridal table costs extra, receptions are limited to four hours, and extending the reception costs $500 per hour, with additional charges for extended bar service. The Stonehouse was beautiful, and when an issue arose with golf tee times that had been booked over a year in advance, the owner did work to resolve it, which we appreciated. Overall, while the venue is beautiful and the food and event staff were wonderful, the poor communication, repeated miscommunications, unexpected costs, and failure to honor certain requests made for a disappointing experience. For the price of a country club wedding venue, we expected a much smoother planning process and greater attention to detail. Future couples should make sure every detail is clearly documented and fully understand what is and is not included before signing a contract.
