A friendly customer who Bob was helping before me overheard and they both offered me great advice for continuing the hunt for my treasure. I had a look around the shop, and found a beautiful (fragile) trinket I decided to purchase. Bob took extra special care in wrapping my item to make sure it would get home in one piece. It was clear he cared, even though my purchase only cost $5. (A steal). When I went out to my car, Bob had followed to take down the "open" flag and saw that I had my dog with me. He called out "next time you come please bring your dog in with you!" And that just made my day. Customer service is everything, and this place is as good as is gets. I am putting this on my "must visit" list for my future returns to coastal Maine.

That aside, the store carries some good/ok products - mostly baby toys such as Mon Ami stuffies, which I have now seen in a few places. Some of the art was antique-ish, antique, or at least decent, but didn't always have obvious labels or ages (and was clearly a mix). The staff weren't particularly friendly, but there was some signage which put me off. Upon entering the store, there is a no food or drink sign (normal), but also a sign that you must hold your child's hand if under like 11 years old, which rubbed me wrong. Especially given much of the content of the store. "You break it you buy it" would be more fitting. Additionally, there were no photo or videos signs in the store. It overall felt quite aggressive and with the assumption of ill intent or impact by customers.

My dad used to renovate run-down stuff he'd salvaged from the Alna Dump (dump picking was legal; this was the early 70s) and sell or trade to Elmer. Hours would go by. So much amazing and rusty junk, and random things like thousands of wooden eggs and bags of antique long white gloves and lace tablecloths sold by the pound. Anyway, it's an antique mall, now, but there is still the old vibe there, chickens wandering around, rusty sawblades, and if you go out in the back rooms which maybe you aren't supposed to...The smell of wet cement and the old creepy tools hanging up *chef's kiss* Oh, and you'll leave with something reasonably priced. Last trip's treasures were that Yes album with the six part fold-out-art ($8) and a kinda cheesy old painting with ornate frame ($13); I'll toss the painting and upcycle the frame. Pretty sure some ghosts "live" there...bring a camera and take some spooky pictures to see spirit orbs! Can't recommend an Elmer's afternoon highly enough, particularly on a cold, rainy day.

Checking out with my items I was told by the owner that the duck had no price on it and she then said "SHOW ME WHERE YOU FOUND THIS?" We arrived to find out that they are closed on Monday's and Tuesdays, however, Charles was working in yard/barn and invited us in, turning on the lights on all 3 floors of his large barn. We had a tour along with the stories of how he acquired some of his collection. The barn was neat and orderly and reminded me of the show American Pickers Antique Archeology store.
