I went to MedShape office off Hayden over ten years ago to help loose the weight and look great for a reunion. They were terrific back then and are now. I'm in a different chapter in my life and the weight has slowly crept back on. So after looking into other programs I decided to take advantage of Medshape again. A really good decision. So far I am halfway towards my total weight loss goal. I have been able to maintain and keep the weight off. They are very encouraging but they also hold you accountable. They are there to get you through your setbacks and help celebrate your successes. Save your money! I don't even know where to start with this review. I purchased a Living Social coupon for the 12 Week program decided to go to the Scottsdale location because it was close to my place of employment. My first appointment I arrived 15 minutes early to an office that had relocated to another building across town... that information would have been nice to know however I didn't make a huge deal because things Iike not updating your website with the new address can happen. When I called to let the office know I was at the closed location the person on the other end of the phone spoke to me as though I was an idiot. "Haven't been here for a while" she asked. "Actually I've never been" I said. "''This is my first appointment". Not a very customer service oriented person AT ALL!! When I need to schedule an appointment closer to my home on a Saturday I was told not to worry I'd be in the system and welcomed at the Peoria location. Ha-FREAKING-Ha!!!! I wasn't in the system and I WASN'T welcomed. Instead I waited nearly 20 minutes before being scrutinized about why I chose to come to the Peoria location instead of the Scottsdale location. "We just don't know if you're on your first appointment or your last". My takeaway to that comment was "you thief... how dare you try to steal from us" Called to reschedule an appointment after hours as to be respectful of their time. No voicemail. Called at open and was put on hold for 6 minutes... to be told sorry we can't accommodate your reschedule request... that's fine. I'm certainly NOT going back to the Peoria location so I guess I just threw $150 (give or take a few dollars) away. I am rating my latest experience with a 2. I ordered products and had them mailed to me. I had been a client for over a year. I didn't receive all of my order or detailed instructions for use. I contacted the office and was told the rest of my order would be sent to me. It has been over 2 months and I haven't received anything else. I have been speaking with the Facebook medshape page via messenger but that rep hasn't had any luck getting in contact with the office either. All I want now is a refund. I needed to do something to help my body absorb iron so that I could have a surgery (was too anemic) and so I originally visited MedShape to get some B12 injections and a body scan. I was not pressured into buying anything additional (which I expected because I came in on a discounted voucher). I learned some nutritional & body facts and followed their clean eating meal plan for a week....came back the next week for another injection where they weighed me and I'd lost 12lbs just by eating properly - yikes!! It was pretty simple and easy to follow!! So I joined one of their programs and lost 40 lbs - my goal - and am maintaining just fine :) The staff are very supportive and accommodating (and non-judgmental when I cheated on my plan!! LOL). Medshape Weight Loss Clinic may help some people lose weight. However, it definitely is not for others, as was in my case. I asked specific questions before my husband and I signed up. We stated that we wanted to find a program for both of us. I also asked if my medical condition, sjogrens, an inflammatory autoimmune disorder would interfere with my rapid weight loss as stated by the employee at MedShape and their Internet Site and I was told absolutely not. I realized that I legally could cancel within three days of signing but the problems due to my age of which they were aware and my medical situation proved that to be incorrect. Even the information we had to fill out had my birth date and showed that I was 69 years old. All the medications I take were listed. Every question I asked was answered that this diet would be very good for me. They advertise quick, healthy weight loss. I was very happy to try a program with quick weight loss, be healthy for me, and, with a doctor on staff, could produce excellent results. We signed up for the longest program of 18 weeks, costing well over $2000.00. Nothing was further from the truth for me. I had a very slow weight loss (approximately one pound a week). With fruit restrictions, minimal carbohydrates, I immediately had problems with constipation and felt it necessary to take laxatives every three days. Then, I was told not to have any fruit (2 specific ones are allowed) because their sugar content might be interfering with my weight loss. When that didn't work, they told me to only have fruit early in the day. It made no difference. Each week, the person I spoke with would say the group of employees at this location were working on helping me and asked me to let them come up with a plan. They consulted the doctor was told that perhaps I had a problem with my thyroid or insulin level and I was told that it might help if I took Metformin, a drug used for type 2 diabetes which I didn't have. I told them I've been tested and did not have diabetes. Since they kept insisting, I went for the test and both showed normal. I met with the doctor and he convinced me that since the tests showed results in the higher end of the spectrum of normal, to take the drug. At this point, I was thoroughly frustrated with my weight loss even though I followed all the rules explicitly. The instructions were to take one pill for a period of time and increase to two. Well, when I started taking two, I had uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea. When I went in to check my weight, I had lost four pounds. However, a four pound loss was due to the bad reaction I had from the drug. The employee called the doctor and he said to go back to one pill. Their doctor told me that due to my age and sjogrens, that I was doing remarkably well by losing slowly. He added in the four pounds I lost after three days of throwing up and diarrhea to my total. That was ridiculous. I no longer trusted anything they said and left. I told her I was going to ask for a refund. They said that since I didn't cancel in the first three days, I wouldn't get it. How was I supposed to know then especially since the questions I asked about my age and condition proved to be the stumbling block? I feel cheated and after going through better business bureau who ended up telling me they couldn't do anything since MedShape wouldn't respond. What was told to me when I signed up was a lie about how fast I would lose. What was told to me that I'd be healthier was another lie. Be careful before you sign up. read more

I have been going to MedShape for years. Whenever I need an extra boost to lose those 10 or so pounds, I go here. But, the past few visits have been very unpleasant. When I first signed up, it was particularly because of the "no judgment zone" and the encouragement. But, I have seen Amber multiple times and she is a complete waste of my time and has judged me every time. I asked the front desk to put on my file to never have her "see/judge" me and the front desk lady said that's very common. If it's very common, why hasn't management done anything? If they have, it's not working. I miss the girls that were here a couple years ago as they were very encouraging and helped you lose the weight that you needed to. In addition, Kelly is probably the most awesome person. At the moment, until Amber is gone, I have to rate this place a 1 star because of her lack of customer service. After having made my appointment the day before, I was greeted by smiling faces when I walked through the door. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable. I purchased a deal for 5 weeks (or 5 shots) for $30 less a $10 referral credit so $20. The office is very clean and the staff amazing. My 1st appt I had to fill out 3 pages regarding medical/health history, eating habits, what I wanted to achieve, etc. Then I had a consultation during which we discussed much of the info, what the shots would consist of (B6, B12, fatburners,etc) what I should expect, and warnings like "drink plenty of water" I was also given dietary info, meal suggestions, and info on portion size. I was weighed and received my 1st shot. Each visit I would again be weighted, we would discuss how I felt that week, what was working or not working, any questions I had, etc. And I was seeing results. After the 5 weeks they offer another deal ($79 or $99 I think depending on options) for existing customers and I was going to do it but then another med spa ran a 4 week deal for $20 so I bought that instead. I expected a similar experience. I was disappointed. When I arrived the only thing I filled out was my contact info, no one spoke to me about anything, no weigh in, nothing. And this place looked like it could close down and disappear with a moments notice. A girl that looked 17 with huge gold jewelry dangling all over the place took me to the back room and quickly gave me a shot that bled and bruised badly. She then said I didn't need to make any appts, just walk in whenever I wanted a shot. It felt like I was doing something dirty, like getting shot up in a back alley. Certainly did not feel like a medical appt. I felt no difference this week and didn't lose any weight. I guess I didn't know how great Medshape Weight Loss was until I had something to compare it to. A while back, I was visiting a friend of mine out in west valley and she told me about her success at Medshape. I'm a natural critic so I tagged along while she went in for her weekly check-in at this Peoria clinic. I liked what I saw. They office girls were nice and when I listened in to their nutrition talk, it made sense to me. They let me sample some of their Medshape chocolate protein shake, which was pretty good. I bought a couple of their other products samples to take with me and they were good enough that I looked for a location by my house in Mesa when I got home. I think it was the fact that Medshape is a doctor supervised weight loss program with many thousand successful clients that really sold me, though. Now, I'm getting healthier right along with my girl. In fact, I've told other friends and they're joining on with us. That makes any social eating we do a lot easier! Hmm, wish they had a recipe book. They do give you some recipe ideas in some handouts and on the blog but a real recipe book designed around their food would be great. read more

My initial call to the office was very pleasant when speaking with the medical assistant Amber. At my appointment I felt obligated to purchase the higher plans based on how much emphasis she placed on them. I mentioned what was the difference between the cheaper plan of $49 and the $29 Groupon currently offered. She stated that was not a great deal and you received the basic basic treatment. She upsold me on the $79 plan. I was interested in Phentermine and she made it clear they offer that as a last resort. No take home pills like I'm accustom to simply shots to be taken every other day. I paid and left and had to return because she didn't provide me pamphlets providing guidance on administering the shots. The last biggest disappointment of all is once I got home I realized she never weighed me!!!! How is she to know how much weight I loss if she didn't track my weight. Totally bummed about this purchase. I will complete my monthly plan and will travel 10 miles further to the weightloss clinic I'm more familiar with.... The are all about the money at this place and not about satisfying the customers needs.. read more

My boyfriend and I both had a horrible experience with MedShape. They are so unorganized and don't know what they're doing. We signed up for a one month premium plan and met with a counselor once a week. We couldn't meet with the same counselor every time so we ended up meeting with 3 different people. We met with one who was really friendly, but since it was her second day on the job, I knew more about the program than she did so it was completely unhelpful. They need to train their employees before they send them in with clients on their own. Twice we met with the owner who happened to be in town, and she was extremely judgmental. Because she couldn't figure out why the diet wasn't working for me, she kept accusing me of cheating even though I insisted on leaving a urine sample to ensure I hadn't cheated once. Don't even get me started on the wait times. We had a total of 5 pre-scheduled appointments - we waited 30 minutes for the first one, we waited 45 minutes for the 2nd one, we waited an hour for the 3rd one, the 4th one was on time, and we waited an hour for the 5th one. During your appointments, they hook you up this this machine that tells you certain things, such as how much muscle you have gained (or lost). But I think that machine is a total gimmick because at one appointment the machine said I was losing muscle in my arms but gaining it in my legs, which isn't possible. Two of the times we went there, they couldn't get the printer for the machine to work. This should have been fixed between our appointments. But since there was no print-out of our readings, the consultant wrote some notes in our files for two different visits. But then the next consultant couldn't read the notes so they had no idea if we were on track since they didn't have anything to go on from the prior week. They promise you to lose 5 - 8 pounds per week. For the first week, I lost 6 pounds, which is good until you realize it's mainly just water weight. The second week, I only lost 0.2 pounds and was accused of cheating by the owner no less. The third week, I only lost 0.3 pounds and was again accused of cheating by the owner. The fourth week I lost 3 pounds, and at this appointment I said I wanted to give a urine sample to prove I hadn't cheated because they were still doubting me. After they collected the sample, they said they could tell I was eating carbs by the color of my urine. I told them the reason my urine was that color is because I was drinking their approve protein drinks, which they warn you will change the color of your urine. They never gave me the results of my urine test, and I know it's because it proved I wasn't cheating. At my fifth appointment, I relayed to them how disappointed I was and asked for at least part of my money back. My boyfriend and I each paid $700 for this month-long horrible experience. They refused to refund any of my money and instead told me I could have a week for free. But why would I accept a free week of horrible service? Since then, I've lost more weight on the Paleo Diet than I did with MedShape. read more
