I had issues with my right knee and received injections for awhile which helped for awhile until it wore down to bone on bone. I decided on a knee replacement. Had a pain issue after the knee replacement and Dr. Castillo was able to give an injection to take away that pain - haven't had any pain in that area since. I also have issues with arthritis and lower back which I receive injections. It helps to control the pain as well as managing pain meds. The doctor and his team are all excellent care givers. Yes, occasionally one has to wait a little longer because the doctor is treating other patients - I understand that he takes the amount of time needed to make sure the procedure is being done right. He gives everyone the time needed to address whatever issues a person is having.

His quality of life declined and the DR (?) reduced his medication. The last month's of his life were he'll because of this. My father who could out work us all before the surgery was stuck at home. He was in too much pain to take a plane to visit family for the holidays. Too much pain to go shopping. This place is a joke. There is no caring for the patients. Got my appointment scheduled for 8am and showed up 10min early for it. They said because I didn't have their paperwork filled out they couldn't see me and they'd have to reschedule me for next week. I looked at the 26 page paperwork that would probably take me 5 minutes to fill out. Don't get a day off from work usually so I asked if I could fill it out really quick there and they said sure but would have to wait until 1pm to see the next provider. Not to mention there's no seriousness with the ladies behind the desk, as they sit there laughing and joking while they're denying appointments of people who show up 10 min early.

I've received multiple injections from them, and they've been extremely effective in managing my pain. You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and want to help improve quality of life, which I really appreciate. When you go into the office, the staff is friendly. One area that could really be improved is the coordination around prescription medications. My prescription is an injection that must be administered by a provider, and I've been trying to get this sorted out since January (it's now April). I've had to follow up multiple times and haven't received much communication in return. My pharmacy eventually closed out the prescription because they were unable to reach the office to coordinate shipping. I had also informed the office several times that I was due for my injection on the 26th (I receive it every three months), and I'm now several days overdue, with the prescription still not shipped from the specialty pharmacy. Improving communication and coordination with the pharmacy would make a big difference in the overall patient experience and help ensure treatments stay on schedule. I chose this office because of the quality of the doctors and the convenience of the location, and I truly hope this is an area that can be addressed. The care from the providers is outstanding, and with a more streamlined process on the administrative side, this would be an exceptional experience all around.

I continued treatment for 5 more appointments on a cash pay basis and paid the quoted price at each appointment. Atlas Pain was also billing my insurance for each of these 5 appointments. Now they expect me to pay the much higher prices that they billed my insurance company. I've tried contacting the office several times. Of course, they never return calls and billing doesn't have a direct phone number. My advice...GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! PS... Not sure why my location shows as San Francisco. I'm in Phoenix.
