Whenever a child is struggling in school there are many aspects to take into account. Adhd, Sensory processing disorder, Autism, visual processing issues, Dyslexia, learning disabilities and that is just naming the common issues. So often parents will take an initial diagnosis as fact but in reality these conditions run so parallel it is often difficult to say with certainty. Being a parent is hard but when your child struggles the ante is raised. No one knows their child like a parent does but often a school or Dr. will label a child because they don't learn the same as the average child, often psychostimulants are prescribed unnecessarily. Building bridges is an amazing place with caring therapist that will help to tease out conditions and give alternative therapies to children as well as suggest stimilants if necessary. I've seen some amazing progress from this facility and can give eyewitness testimony to the staffs dedication and hard work. I have the highest respect for this facility and highly recommend.

Once you walk inside, reality hits, the bright pops of color are gone, and it smells of urine and disinfectant. Clients are sitting in wheelchairs throughout the hall, nothing colorful for them to look at or keep their attention for any amount of time. Many of the client clients do not have a bathroom in their room, and those that do are shared by four people (Jack and Jill style bathroom between two patient rooms). Nothing appears to have been updated since it was originally decorated. The daytime Staff are polite and friendly, and acknowledge you as you walk through the hallways. The nighttime staff are either understaffed or inattentive, as they do not respond to the call lights in a timely manner. This facility would work for a quick respite stay, if you have nowhere else to take your loved one, but would not work for a living facility as each bed appears to have less than 100 square ft.for their "living space ".

The remainder of the time was spent in bed. When she was released, her husband had to take her to the ER because her second toe was infected. The infection was in her toe bone, so the doctor said the toe would need to be amputated. What kind of nursing care did she receive that would have missed a severely infected toe? This place should not be allowed to operate without a state inspection.

Her progress from the day she admitted to Westland Nursing and Rehabilitation center to today is astonishing, I am beyond grateful for everything the staff has done for her. They did not just care for her they took the time to get to know her and make her feel comfortable. They knew her by name and every time I was in to visit several staff members would stop in her room to check in on her and say hello even if they weren't working the floor. She loved Kim the unit manager on her floor she said she always found a way to make everyone smile and brighten their day. The care you receive feels personal and that was really important to me and my family. We are beyond happy with our mothers stay at Westland and because of the excellent care she received we are able to take her home; that's a feeling I cannot even put into words. I have to say that I am beyond blown away by his progress by the care of the office staff and therapists as well as the owner. How seen, heard, and loved my son knows that he is every day that he is there. Our speech therapist, Reem, has been working with my son for one month now- (8 sessions), he went from having as few as 3 words (up down and cat) at our initial evaluation to becoming like a river that has burst through a dam. As of today he can identify shapes, colors, numbers, animals, and people. He only likes to say his dad's name and hasn't mastered speaking and communication quite yet but the progress we are observing is incredible. It brings me to tears every single time I hear my boy's voice come up with something new. The office is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, accommodating, kind, and loving. Delays or not, his brother will be joining this facility as soon as he's old enough as well.
