Avery's birthday at Discovery Kingdom was an absolute blast!…read more We spent a good six hours at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for Avery's birthday, and this was honestly such a fun first big amusement-park experience for our family. Avery had an absolute blast from the moment we got there until it was time to leave. The Looney Tunes characters were probably the biggest highlight for him because Looney Tunes is his favorite, and Wile E. Coyote is his absolute favorite character. We happened to catch Wile E. while he was closing down his picture area, but he still stopped to say hi to Avery. When Avery told him it was his birthday, Wile E. actually stopped what he was doing and brought him back over to the picture area so they could take a photo together. That was such a sweet little moment, especially because he didn't have to do that. We also caught the 3:30 Looney Tunes dance show, although we got there a little late and couldn't get seats because we were on the other side of the park. Avery didn't care -- he was out there dancing like he was part of the cast. One of the service team members noticed how much he was dancing and told me that if we came back around 4:15 for the 4:30 show, Avery might have a chance to get picked to go onstage for his birthday. And IT WORKED. Avery got picked to go onstage! He wanted to be on Team Bugs because Bugs had won the previous dance show, but he ended up on Team Daffy instead... and Team Daffy WON! He was so proud of himself and had the absolute time of his life. Watching him have that much fun on his birthday was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire day. We rode basically every ride Avery was tall enough and comfortable enough to ride, explored the butterfly garden, saw the lions and giraffes, watched the shows, ate pizza and breadsticks with our food pass, grabbed drinks, and still managed to squeeze in more rides afterward. There is definitely plenty to do here even if you're not spending the entire day on roller coasters. One warning, though: the Road Runner roller coaster is INTENSE. That thing has some serious whipping and an extremely abrupt stop. I would definitely prepare yourself for some unexpected movement because it is much more aggressive than I expected. Even some of the smaller kids might find it intimidating just because of how fast it moves. Know what you're getting yourself into before you climb on that one! Also, prepare to get your steps in. This park is big, and we walked A LOT. But honestly, that's part of the experience. There was always something else to go see, another character to find, another show to catch, or another ride to get on. For a first amusement park experience with our kids, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better day. Avery got to meet his favorite Looney Tunes character, dance onstage on his birthday, win a dance competition, see animals, explore the park, eat good food, and ride a bunch of rides. Everybody had fun, and it was absolutely worth the money we spent. This was our family's first real theme-park adventure, and it definitely opened the door for us to start checking out other parks too. Great America and the other California amusement parks are definitely going on the list, but Discovery Kingdom was a pretty damn good place to start. Six hours later, exhausted, stuffed, and with a very happy birthday boy? I'd call that a successful day.

Now the not so good - Be aware: the entertainment division changed the Looney Tunes show (Tunetastic). It's AWFUL now. Think Mean Girls energy. Lots of DRAMA that is completely unnecessary for a children's audience. Way too LOUD. And they don't let children come anywhere near the stage to meet the characters like they used to. It used to be a fun, interactive, and inclusive DANCE PARTY FOR KIDS. We didn't see any Halloween themed stuff this year. Did it get canceled? More positive highlights - feeding the giraffes, a great value for just $10. Get there early! We also enjoyed the Wildlife Experience show - we saw a diverse array of animals. Overall, it was a fun experience for our group, although some experiences were closed (adventure zone and one of the restaurants). We still had a good time!

The seat was comfy and the lap bar was very well secured. The drop was insane, one of the scariest things I have ever done, but after the drop it was so so so much fun. Most parks I've been to that carry Superman (Over Texas, Over Georgia & Great Adventure) have a flying B&M roller coaster that is pretty much identical. I have noticed that the Superman at Fiesta Texas is not a flying roller coaster and the Superman at Magic Mountain is more of a free-fall. Discovery Kingdom's variation of Superman is completely different as well as it is just a simple roller coaster. Don't get mixed up when I say "simple" though as the roller coaster is far from slow. With speeds up to 62 mph and heights reaching 150 ft, this short 45-second ride is something you do NOT want to miss out on. It may perhaps be the best ride I went on at this park. It's a launch coaster that gets you to the peak 62 mph in just seconds and there are some amazing twists you'll see. This ride is unique because you get to swivel over the top of the loop so you feel like you're riding the outside part of the track -- but then, you will be back when you take that loop and it quite possibly may be one of the tallest inversions in the world. You're definitely in for a chance to feel like Superman. This ride is really unique and I really enjoyed being on this one. If you're at Discovery Kingdom, this one is one you don't want to miss out on.

You launch forward and then momentum slows down, and then it speeds up again as you go backwards, upside down - I think the scariest part is that because the momentum does slow, you are literally hanging upside down for parts of it and definitely get a head rush. It's a newer ride that came out in 2012 ish. The only unfortunate thing is the wait can be long, since it only runs 1 car that fits one group of people at a time. The ride is pretty short though, about 45 seconds ish, so it's definitely a fast one. It's also a strict no bag ride, and I've witnessed someone's phone fall out of their pocket during the upside down portion -so I definitely recommend keeping your hat, sunglasses, and phone in the cubby space they have next to the car near the exit after the ride. The one thing I don't like is the line waiting area is often super wet on the ground with lots of puddles and stagnant water regardless, definitely will be back, and its proximity to Joker and Batman make it really easy to just add in to your park itinerary

I think my aging body has a harder time riding rides like these and I prefer actual "roller coasters" like Medusa and Joker. If you ride in the seats facing the dolphin area (facing RIGHT when you are looking at the ride at the entrance of the line), I feel like it's way scarier LOL. It's just so spinny (and I think you swing more if you and your seat mate are heavier maybe? Someone who's good at physics pls weigh in). I felt like I had to close my eyes to not be so scared haha. I would say this is worth going on if the wait is shorter than 15 minutes, otherwise I don't love it. Also I would recommend not wearing sandals to the park because they do make you take off slides flip flops if you're wearing them (since your shoes would probably just fly off with all the rotation), but sometimes after raining, the floor below this ride can be very wet and have lots of puddles (so good luck getting off without getting your feet/socks wet lol).

So this coaster just isn't for me as I don't like how it spins and I don't like the restraints as well as the whole concept of the ride I just feel it's more rough than fun as it just kinda hurts my upper body every time but that's just me you might have a different experience than I do! They were just starting the grill to cook the food for lunch but our girls were hungry so we left to get food elsewhere.

First, it's probably the lowest SkyScreamer I've been on, with heights only up to 150 feet. I've noticed all the rides at Discovery Kingdom are pretty "low" for heights -- not sure if there is an ordinance (similar to Six Flags Over Georgia). I've been on the SkyScreamer at Over Texas (400 ft), Over Georgia (240 ft) and Great Adventure (400 ft) so this was definitely the lowest ride of them all. I personally am not a huge fan of this ride as it spins and makes me dizzy but my friend wanted to ride and get a view of the Vallejo area so I gave in and we rode. The ride is pretty identical to all the other clones in the chain. The speed is moderate (43 mph), the duration of the ride is similar and the views are breathtaking. But I still do only give this ride 3 stars because SkyScreamer is all about height and it does not have the height that other parks have, and simply -- it makes me pretty dizzy. I would only get on this ride if other people begged me to ride it with them.

Your ride starts off rocking back and forth before you start taking in the total looping head to head fun once you get going you are going around in the two big circles a few times then it's all said and done! The coaster it self is a pretty cool design the way it is just massive motion going in one direction with so much force it does give a little bit of a rough ride but still fun in its own loud way as in this coaster does create quite a bit of noise wile it is in motion. Overall this is a fun awesome new addition to the park and I definitely did enjoy the few rides I took with Harley Quinn!

Superman is the other one and I personally think that one is better than The Flash, but that does not mean The Flash has no presence in Discovery Kingdom here. The coaster itself looks pretty small as there isn't a lot of track, but that's mainly because it's a launch coaster that goes back and forth. It reminded me a lot like the now defunct Deja Vu in some ways. Outside the loading dock, there are two ways you can go -- one in an ultra-twisted inline curve, and the other that goes straight up 90 degrees. So you're kinda all over the place for this ride, but you're definitely in for a treat. With maximum speeds of 60 mph and going as high as 150 ft, the ride may seem like it's not much but there's truly a lot to offer. There's a lot of surprises while riding this out, so make sure to check this ride out when you're at the park !

The launch is great and I like the custom slanted twisted spike so everyone gets to go upside down which Six Flags Great America's did not have. I like Steel Venom at Valleyfair more because it has the holding brakes on the vertical back-spike. So this ride I would recommend for kids under the age of 17 would enjoy. But people over the age of 39 probably wouldn't enjoy it because there are some rough patches.
