Had them out to solve a clogged drain. First guy was very diligent and worked hard to diagnose as drain problem caused by roots in underground line. Reasonable bill for this first phase. Next guy who came out declared roots not treatable by grinder and they would have to replace outside line to street for $5600.00. He used camera in line but said no video available for me to see roots. I declined this major work and expense and called another plumber, who used a grinder to eliminate roots, accessing the line through my toilet. Charge: $270.00. Even if roots come back after a year or two, I saved money big time, and who knows if it will be a problem later. I will not use Meetze again. read more

Great experience! I had on ongoing problem with a running/hissing/generally problem toilet. It was a Saturday when I finally got a minute to call a plumber for this very non-urgent issue. I called Meetze Plumbing, and a kind person helped me on the phone. I was extremely surprised that they would be able to get someone to me in three hours or less, on a weekend! The person who answered the phone was professional and friendly. Setting up the visit was painless. Shortly afterward, I received both an email and a text letting me know that Garrett was on his way. It included a picture, which I really appreciated. Garrett was pleasant from the moment he knocked on the door. He diagnosed the issue quickly and-- again, to my surprise-- said he could fix it then and there; he had all the necessary parts with him. He retrieved them from his truck and got right to work. He was also very patient and answered my questions about whether or not this plumbing issue was affecting my plumbing bill. And then he offered to check my crawl space for any leaks. This part may have surprised me the most, because, honestly, who volunteers to go under a house in a Columbia summer? It was a big relief to me when he gave the all-clear. Fast forward to now: the toilet works perfectly. If I had known this would be so quick and easy, I wouldn't have put off calling a plumber! Had Meetze tech come to my newly purchased condo to see if the plumbing was legal and up to par since there had previously been a lawsuit over the illegally plumbed condos when built. Meetze tech said it was illegal and they would need to tear out a wall and blah, blah, blah -- estimate $600.00. Then I got a City Inspector come take a look and he said the plumbing had already been corrected, was perfect and legal, nothing needed to be done. All I can say about these folks is they lie and their quoted rates are way out of line.

What happened? This business has gone to the dogs. No respect for the customer's time, money or needs. I moved to Columbia in September of 2021. I called Meetz when I had a pipe burst. They came right away and fixed it (expensive but they were quick). Then I had them install a $5000 waterless water heater. Later, I had them install a new water line for my refrigerator and install a water pressure flow regulator. Again, expensive as hell but they came and did the job well. Last year, I had them install a new toilet with no problems. I was talked into purchasing an annual "membership" for $95 dollars which is supposed to give me a 10% discount on jobs and "priority" service. PRIORITY, my ass! Trouble started soon afterwards. I had a leaking water showerhead. So, I called to make an appointment. I was given a 1-4 pm time frame a few days later on a Friday , (not priority, if you ask me). I took off that day and waited and waited. 1:00 came, then 2:00, then 3:00 and then 4:00. No one showed up so I called and complained. Finally, one of their plumbers showed up around 7:00 pm. Hardly priority and definitely LATE. I complained to the plumber but accepted his story they were playing catch up since a freeze had done damage to more LUCRATIVE jobs than mine. I told him I needed my other shower worked on and it was going to cost over $1000, plus add a new water shut off valve for over $500. He had me sign estimates and was going to come first thing Monday morning. I got up at 6:30 am Monday to empty the closet space he was going to need to access the shower. 8:30 came and he was a no show. So, I called and was told he would be there at 10:00 am. He was a no show. I had an appointment with a doctor at 12;45 so I had to cancel. Priority service, right?? Then I called and complained to Meetz on Tuesday and their records were all screwed up and had no record of an appointment! So, I reschedule for Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, some company manager called to say they were sorry but promised me they would be there that day as scheduled. Guess what? Yep! No one showed all day even though I told the manager I was taking ANOTHER day off to be there. I had told her I could understand them running behind but why can't they pick up the phone and tell me? She said I was preaching to the choir and that was not how they do business. Well, they apparently, they do conduct buisness that way now. No one called to tell me they were not coming. No one did anything for me at all. So I canceled the appointment at 7:00 pm as he was obviously not coming. I demanded a refund on my worthless membership for "priority" service. I will never do business with the company again. It has, over a short span of time, gone down a toilet they can't fix. For the ridiculous amount they charge, is it really too much to ask for a phone call to tell me they are running late or not coming? If you are going charge me a king's ransom, then give that level of service in return. After what a dog this company has devolved to I have to put them down. AVOID!!! read more

Have used Meetze in the past with acceptable results. Called this time to have a whole-house filter housing replaced (4 bolts, 2 1-inch pipes) and to have a reverse osmosis water filtration system installed under my kitchen sink. Few things. First, website says same day service, which did not happen. It was not an emergency, so no big deal. Instead, they said they would come today between 9a-12pm. However, they did not arrive at my house until around 3:45, nearly four hours beyond the end of the time window. Be careful if you decide to take off of work to wait on them. Website also says "up-front" and "per-job" pricing. However, when the tech arrived at my house, he quoted me $395 per hour! While that may be "up-front," it is certainly not "per-job." Also, that is an astronomical rate for what seems to be fairly basic plumbing work. The installation of the whole-house filter housing only takes about 20 minutes or so, but I have to pay the technician another $200 to sit there for 30 minutes while the glue dries. This pricing structure is VERY unreasonable and I will not use Meetze again because of it. Which is a shame because their techs seem to be very competent and professional. But, unless you are rich or hate money, proceed with caution. read more

We called because our dishwasher wasn't draining. Shephard came out and fixed it in no time. He was polite, courteous, and very obviously knew what he was doing. I had a horrible experience with Meetze Plumbing. I am a teacher and single mom and rely on repair people to be honest and not price gauge me. I needed an upstairs toilet repaired (inside rebuilt) and was charged $435 for 45 minutes of work. The plumber did not give me an itemized receipt to reflect the price of parts (which I had already priced at Walmart and were cheap). He also wanted to charge $200 to unclog sink drains ($200 each). My father called the owner on my behalf and Mr. Meetze was extremely rude and unwilling to work with me at all. He said his price was "his price" and he was "sticking to it." I have since learned from a friend who owns rental properties that he had 9 toilets rebuilt for around $1000 in Atlanta. I am furious and feel extremely taken advantage of. read more

I called Meetze Plumbing today to fix a clogged kitchen sink. They sent a tech for a $49.00 service charge. Without even looking under my sink, he went outside to look at my sewer connection. I'm in a townhouse that is over 30 years old. He said that due to the age of the condo, he felt the clog is to the outside and would cost $400.00 to snake it with no guarantee. I said well how can that be since the water on the right side of the sink is draining fine? Oh, well, I guess it could be clogged under the sink then. I asked him to check the pipes and he said it would cost $350.00 no matter what he finds under the sink for him to look. No way was I blindly paying that!!! I paid him the service charge and he left. I watched a video on line and I repaired it myself...in under 5 minutes! It was food clogging the pipe running from the garbage disposal to the s pipe. I then called John, the service manager, and told him about my experience. He couldn't have cared less. He said "Our prices are our prices." And he added "aren't you glad you didn't have him work on it because you would have had to pay the "$350.00". The high pressure tactics that the technician used didn't work on me. Don't let them do this to you! I can only imagine the people they have ripped off by their pricing structure. Shame on them. read more

I am an out of state owner of a condo in SC, I needed to have two toilets re-built with new inner parts. The job is about an hour to hour and a half at the most, their quote was over $900 for a simple job, more than twice the amount I wound up paying with another more highly rated plumbing company. I attempted to call them when I had a plumbing emergency and was met with the most rudest woman who I assume was part of the after hours answering service. She would not let me finish a sentence; seems like about every other word she was interrupting me and I was never given the proper opportunity to state my need. It put a bad taste in my mouth and I will tell anyone who will listen to not call them especially if you have an after hours emergency. The lady had the audacity to tell me to call back during normal business hours; would be a cold day in hades before that happened. read more

We had to reconnect our plumbing under the kitchen sink. The garbage disposal wiring was all ready there and a new disposal was ready to be installed. All that had to be done was connect the dishwasher, put in new disposal, and cut the pipe back to accomadate the new structure of the sink. We were charged over $650 for this job that took about 1 hour. We felt taken advantage of. I still have not received a breakdown of our bill. Very bad experience with their water filteration (kinetico). Please do your homework on your water quality. Get several bids and make sure all companies understand what your problems are and that their system works for your needs. They all guarantee! But they don't. Kinetico might work for certain situations. If you have high iron, iron bacteria, manganese or high total dissolved solids do not hire this company. The owner is a very nice professional guy but can be condescending. They guaranteed my system and I gave them every ample opportunity to fix but they couldn't. Then they criticize be for waiting 18 months to let them find a resolution. read more

We had water coming out of my mother's bathroom, plus toilets and bathtubs backing up at 224 Manor View Court, Columbia, S.C. 29212 and I could not turn the water off at the street. My mother had called and made an appt., however we had a Dr's. appt at the same time. so Meetze was not able to send someone at that time, when we got back to the house, I called them to have someone come turn off the water at the street, as the water was still coming out, now we had a 12:30 to 3 p.m. appt. Within a half hour of my calling, Will W. came out and turned the water off, assessed the situation and began working on the clean out. He was fast, courteous, and got the problem solved in no time. The team showed up around 1300 and stayed until 2100 to ensure the work was completed that day. Called Meetze Plumbing on 12 and 13 April 2019 for a minor leak at the master bedroom toilet. After $300 later ($211 for a new water supply line and $89 for maintenance agreement) and 2 technicians looking at it, still have the leak, water filling into the tank at extremely slow pace and not to the full line. In other words, working worse than before calling them. The first technician sold me on replacing the single water supply line to a dual flexible type in order to take care of the leak. He told me the water pressure to the house was at 63 psi and that the toilet was working fine. After the technician left, I noticed the same issues stated above had not been resolved. I called Meetze again on 13 April 2019 and they sent out a different technician. The technician told me I needed to replace the water fill valve which would cost an additional $300 plus or I could buy a new toilet for $800 or more. He said the water pressure was at 35 psi which indicated there could be a problem with the water pressure valve on the outside water line. The other 2 toilets in the house are working fine with good water pressure. I told him to just repair the leak and water flow into the tank. I should not have to pay anymore because I called them to fix the toilet and make it functional. Functional was not what I received nor paid for. He called both supervisors and was able to speak to one, which he instructed the technician to replace the water fill valve at no cost and no warranty, which was strange. The technician left without replacing the part. I am not a happy camper with Meetze Plumbing. read more

This company charged and 85 year old widow $411 to replace a water spigot. It took 30 minutes of time. They told us that it is normal to charge over $400 dollars for this repair. The part can easily be obtained from Home Depot or Lowe's for about $15. read more
