im leaving two stars because theres actually some good to the bad! I worked with Arthur for about 6…read moremonths. Before that i was a nurse by trade but needed a break from covid and i appreciate the opportunity he gave me! One of the most generous employers i know. And im sure the many that came and went would also agree. But with all good theres the bad. He can come off very condescending at times. I get that senior citizens are stubborn and set in their ways but this was a different kind of arrogance i wasnt used to in all my years as a professional. He would literally treat you like a child. And im 32 with two degrees and my own children. I deserve that respect. This was also one of the most inconsistent jobs ive ever worked. As soon as you would get accustomed to one change he would change again and lash out at me when i tried to take notes so i wouldnt forget. Common sense right ? Despite all the mistakes he made (which were alot that he seemed to forget he did) he still would blame you for them or say that means youre not trying or asking for help? How ? Half the things he didnt even know himself. And our office manager had important personal matters so she couldnt be there to help most of the time so underwriting became my best friend due to be thrown out to the wolves. . Literally my "3rd " day on the job without no prior experience in insurance he made me feel stupid for not knowing something. This was all new to me and im not sure if he remembered i just started or not. But yes mistakes happen when youre learning a "new job" in a completely new feild. Even to this day ive come along way and have actually gotten better and even brought over alot of my friends to him using social media marketing that he took away by not letting us have cell phones lol we are adults arent we? But no matter the progress i made he will go back to an error i made 2 months ago and belittle me for it. That is where i drawed the line and he needs to realize that is why he cant "keep employees" and still has to work past retirement age. Im actually good friends with all his previous ones and they all told me he plays favortism and can be a bit of jerk sometimes and that i made a huge mistake but i believe in giving everyone a chance. SPOILER ALERT. Everyone else that are "currently" working there has told me they are looking for jobs elsewhere as well. "Everyone" I hate to be the one to say it but just like he thought i didnt notice he was making adjustments to let me go he better be making those same adjustments for others leaving right after me that havent told him yet. Me after i started noticing how things were being ran i started staying to myself and focusing on my work and not the office drama. I had to stay focused and antisocial because unlike the rest i was a slower learner and didnt want any distractions. And i guess that rubbed him the wrong way. I dont know. Nevertheless,.. outside of work i think hes a great man. I admire him and all his accomplishments being a black agent in this region which is a rarity! We just clashed because i have a very dominantly assertive personality and quite frankly "i dont take no s***" lol. But i still wouldnt mind a round of golf with him. Future applicants i dont mean to deter you its not all bad. But Use your own judgement, NEVER LET YOUR EMPLOYER THINK THAT THEY ARE IRREPLACABLE because i was already making my own adjustments to go back to nursing myself and was actually turning in my notice the day of my termination. *2 steps ahead* UPDATE: The old b@stard offered to pay for my Life and health license which i didnt bother to do considering i was leaving soon anyway. And after my last day of working i asked nicely where my last pay check was and the prick told me i owed him for the classes i never took. It is against the law and state farm payroll policy to withold a paycheck do to a personal expense. Takin this matter to Corporate and to the better business bureau.
