A Comparison of Two Computer Services. I went in to Megabite today with an older HP computer that needed a new ethernet card. The tech in that store, Deryck Burnett, was exceptionally rude and condescending. It was made clear he did not have the part I needed, and he had no intention of ordering or installing it. I was told I overpaid for my computer- that it obviously isn't worth much. I tried to tell him it had simple duty as a basic tool for my 84 yo mother. He interrupted and said his mother is 80, "so that's not an excuse." He then found the part on Amazon and in a condescending manner, asked if I knew how to order things on my phone. I left with a piece of paper with the part I needed scribbled on it. The second tech in the store seemed to be willing to be helpful, but he wasn't encouraged to come forward. From there, I went to GoPC. I was greeted with smiles. I was informed that because they are down to one tech, Raymond, they were only accepting business accounts right now, but, "Let's see what we can do to help you." While the tech was working, I shared my experience with Megabite just minutes before. They did not seem surprised, just an exchange of glances between them. Within 15 minutes, my computer had its new Ethernet card and I was out the door. I will never forget either business. Thank you so much, GoPC, for stepping up during your lunch time in the middle of a very busy day. I really appreciate your humanity, pleasant attitudes, and help! I had issues with my Apple ID due to having two different ones. After many attempts of trying to merge the two together, I completely messed up my Mac Pro, iPad, iPhone and iWatch syncing with each other. I spent 1 1/2 hours with Wesley and he got all my devices talking to each other. In the future I will not try and troubleshoot any issues with my devices and go straight to him. They charge nothing compared to what I paid in California. Their new location is easy to get to, ample parking, and Dollar Tree right next door! Win-win. read more

Hacked and resolved. I was hacked early on a Saturday morning. Deryck, who was on my contact list, actually called to say he received a dubious email. After the shop opened at noon, my computer was back functioning and up and running. I have used Megabite's services in the past. It is an operation that is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Dropped my computer off for a simple repair, they accomplished nothing in 6 days so i go to pick it up to bring it to another repair spot. When i pick it up, the owner, Deryck, was extremely rude and said everything was my problem now. He called me impatient when it took them 6 days to accomplish NOTHING. And to make it worse my pc is now in a worse condition than when i brought it in.. he left grease smeared on the case and the cable management is complete chaos. Deryk and Wesley helped set up my new laptop and gave a lot of useful information. The are very knowledgeable, professional and small town friendly. I have had their help with other computer issues in the past and have always been pleased with their service. Their service is also very affordable. Deryck was very friendly and helpful when I called about the "Black Screen of Death" on my Windows 10 PC. Yep they were familiar with the problem! So, rather than throw the damn computer off a cliff, I dragged it over to Megabite. "Had I backed everything up regularly as I was supposed to?" Umm... well... uh... hmmm... maybe not so much. You know that look you got from your teacher when you tried the ole "dog ate the homework" excuse? You think he'd heard this stuff before. So I admitted that I was just going to lose some stuff because he was going to have to reload Windows 10. Deryck gave me the short version of the back-up lecture and added a program that saves everything in the cloud to my computer. Anyway, I got my fancy computer back the same day all fixed with the lovely coating of dust that I had been growing blown off and everything carefully wiped down with alcohol. I think he may have even waxed the top and sides. A very patient guy who goes over what he did and makes suggestions geared to your skill level. If you don't know much about computers he is willing to explain everything- so no panic! Done well, done quickly, and priced reasonably. What more could you want? Thanks guys. read more

my dad went in looking for a used laptop to get us by till ours was repaired. The gentleman wanted to tell us he was sorry go pc had our computers for repair. WE should be sorry we went to his store, he sold my dad an as is laptop and all that was wrong with it was it had lines in the screen. we get it home and the battery dies and the charger does not charge the computer. wonder if they seen an old man they could make money off of by selling hi a piece of crap read more

I've used Deryck and his staff at Megabite for years, both in my commercial and personal IT networking and repair needs. I have never been disappointed. Recently had to replace my wife's work laptop, she is a professional photographer and her professional requirements are much different than mine. Deryck recommend a couple of machines and my wife picked the one she felt would work for her. This is the second time we've asked him to make a recommendation, its saved us a lot of time and effort sifting through the vast information available. Once again he was spot on! I took my Hewlett-Packard Laptop in for repairs, before Hurricane Matthew, and after Matthew I did not have the $137.00 to repair it , I went in to get my PC and had to ask for the Charger Cord, He went in the back and gave me one wrapped up. After getting home and unwrapping the Cord it was a Dell. This man would not give me my Cord and Lied that I gave him this Dell cord. I have never own or seen a Dell Cord before, until he switched my HP Cord. If he wanted to charge me storage fees for bringing my PC in and not getting it repaired by him, then he should say so, but do not take my Cord, there is a name for people that do that.
