I had my hair buzzed a couple weeks prior, so I hardly had any hair to begin with. I was taken aback when I paid almost $50 to trim a few hairs. Heard that the owner also treats his staff very poorly. I'm glad that we were able to track down our old stylists at her new shop. I complained right away & said I wanted it fixed & they told me I could call & get it fixed for free! I was soo appreciative. I booked in for a fix, I've had my hair up since since it makes me feel absolutely insecure! I was than told 2 days after that I would not be getting a free fix, because it's 1 not fair to the stylist ( because I booked in with a different stylist because I was NOT letting Wynn? I think her name was. Touch my hair ever again.) & this was through a text from one of their stylists who the owner asked to message me? Real professional on the owners part. So I than call & ask to speak to him. & all he has to say is nothing he can do & I cannot have a fix & that was that., he said some hurtful things & not to mention he said if I couldn't afford a fix I couldn't afford that salon? & that they could just get new clients Really? Why should I have to pay for a fix? That makes no sense! I was a loyal paying client aswell? It's been almost 2 weeks my hair is still up in a pony tail & they refuse to do anything for me. Let's be honest my hair looks like shit. Isn't the whole point to make clients feel good about themselves? I will never go back again. I have told all my family & friends as well, there was a discussion on my Facebook about it aswell. So many people complained about the way Lawrence had treated them, not very good customer service if so many people are unhappy. It's a small town people talk. The salon is not well marked, it is in the basement of a house in Royal Oak. They did a great job decorating the place though, and the people in this salon were friendly and personable. I really wanted to like the highlights, but while they may do a good job on many people, I cannot recommend this place for colouring Asian hair. I saw both Brittany then Laurie for a colour correction the next day. The stylists at this salon mistakenly believe that all Asian hair needs to be bleached to take lighter colour, which is not true, and they don't inform you ahead of time that they intend on lightening your hair. This left me with overbleached blonde hair on my first visit that looked brassy under light. I really appreciated Laurie squeezing me in for a correction appointment the next day, but between low lights and toner, I ended up having paid over $150 for hair that looked essentially black. The other effect of using bleach then toner is the difference in colour that occurs after sun exposure. It looks much lighter 2 months later (and closer to what I wanted originally), but I don't really enjoy the effect of not knowing what my hair colour is going to end up, and worry what it will look like after more months of sun. I also have to warn you that while they may quote $110 for partial highlights for shoulder-length hair, they don't tell you there's an additional charge for blow drying your hair until you receive your surprise bill at the end. Anyone who has had colour done knows that your hair must be blow-dried to tell what colour result you get. I would've appreciated a heads up on the price or an all-inclusive price being quoted ahead of time. Overall, I really wanted to like the salon, I think they were professional, courteous, conscientious, and spent a great deal of time with me. However, I think they need a little more experience or training before I would trust them with Asian hair again.
