What I like best about the park are the mature trees that provide lots of shade. Some of the trees are over 400 years old. There is a huge colorful playground with climbing structures, swings and slides. The base is a mix of mulch and soft matting. Benches line the area for parents to sit and watch kids . (The equipment could use a good cleaning from the trees.) There are two ball diamonds with bleachers within the park. A beautiful stream that meanders through the park attracts fisherman. Tree-covered picnic areas are scattered along the creek. The Vermont Covered Bridge spans the creek and is open to pedestrian traffic. There are restroom facilities near the playground. There are several parking areas throughout the park and you can drive along the creek. Highland Park is a great place to bring the family.

We rented the Rogers Pavilion at Highland Park for our family reunion in August. We booked it about…read morea year in advance since we have our family reunion every August, and we wanted to make sure we could get the date we needed. The pavilion was around $250 for pretty much the entire day, which I thought was a great price for the amount of time and space you get. We really like this park because there's plenty of space and lots of parking. There's also a playground directly across the street that's suitable for kids of different ages, along with a basketball court. The pavilion itself has plenty of tables and chairs, you just have to set them up yourself. There's also a small kitchen, which is very convenient, along with two gender neutral restrooms on each side of the kitchen. The only downside is that the grill provided with the pavilion is a little bit of a walk from the indoor area. There's also another covered pavilion with seating between the grill and the Rogers Pavilion. There happened to be another event going on there during our reunion. It didn't interfere with our event, but of course, having the entire area private would have been even better. I really like this pavilion and think it's a great place to host an event. There's plenty of space, lots of parking, and activities for all ages. I'd definitely consider renting it again for future family events!

For the level of service, excellence, expertise she provides, she could easily charge a lot more; but she loves doggies, so she is more than fair!! My rescue dog- that I was going to euthanize, because his "issues" were more than my family could handle, even though he was NOT our first rescue dog- Michelle saved his life, my sanity, and gave me back a dog that's FINALLY happy, wonderful, well adjusted & a contributing member of the family!!!! He misses her SO much too! She was also excellent with our 'less neurotic' dogs- it was her delight to walk them till they came home exhausted & too tired to chew up everything we own! She needs to open a franchise, so my dogs can still experience what we used to have :(

After street parking, you can access the two playground areas, a basketball court (no lighting), a small shelter with picnic tables, and a decent sized dog park that has seating as well as obstacles. The only negative I saw was that there was standing water to the west of the dog park in the back area of the park. They were able to schedule us quickly for a tech appointment to get them clipped. We were taken back to a room immediately, waited no more than a minute for the techs to come to the room. They were very sweet with my fearful dog as well as my toddlers. Nails were quickly clipped and paw pads cleaned up where they were punctured. In and out in less than 10 minutes. A different place I had called initially was telling me they would have to put him under anesthesia and pay an emergency visit fee before they even saw how minimally ingrown they were. Really appreciate a vet that evaluates and charges appropriately!!

I needed a place to stop with bathrooms, but where the toddlers could play while I fed the youngest. This was perfect! It was maybe 7 minutes off Hwy 31 but we weren't in a rush, so no big deal. There's a nature center, but not open the time we arrived. The restrooms are attached to the nature center but luckily accessible from the outside and open when the nature center is not. Restrooms were clean. Just be aware that it's a little hike from the playground. Playground was nice, but in desperate need of new mulch. 2 pavilions but we chose a large tree to provide shade and stretch out under. The grounds are very well groomed and if I lived here, or if I didn't have so many littles, I would have liked to walk the path. Overall a great park!

This was my first visit to Jackson Marrow Park and I am generally a fan. Near the parking area is a large playground area that has a large fortress for kids to run around. There are also some swings, but not much else considering how much space is allotted to the kids. There is also the Kirkendall Interpretive Center which nobody has reviewed yet...probably because it has limited and odd hours, mostly afternoon. Seems a waste to build a facility and then not have someone there to allow visitors come in. Overall, this is a nice place to go for some peace and quiet or walk your dog if you like taking long walks without having to worry about traffic. There are a couple shelters available, but they require some trekking which can be bothersome if you have to haul a bunch of supplies from the parking lot. Review #2316

Bryce is freaking awesome and makes sure you have a great time. We had the whole trail to ourselves for horseback riding (Peaches is absolutely the best horse in the world, I already miss her so much). When you think of Indiana, you think "flat, boring", but this property had cliffs and mountains and rivers and creeks all over it. Simply gorgeous. Afterwards, Bryce broke out the machines guns and silencers and we shot M16, MP5, Uzis and a Glock 18 along with our own guns. We had the entire range to ourselves and went through thousands of rounds in just a few hours. My personal favorite was the Uzi, but that Glock 18 is beyond ridiculous. An entire 35 rounds gone in less than two seconds. Literally. When you pull the trigger, it just sprays a stream of brass out the side. We got to chill and eat a delicious dinner, then came back to set up camp (again, we had the whole property to ourselves) and Bryce brought us a bunch of wood pallets to make a roaring bonfire. Much alcohol was consumed and hijinks had. This might be one of the best weekends of our lives, no kidding. Certainly the best bachelor party spot in the Midwest, hands down. Even if you're not into machine guns (which means you're crazy) you should still check this place out. It's so beautiful and it's so fun to get to take advantage of having all these goats, horses, chickens, etc. around... but someone else has to take care of them. Thanks, Bryce! When I arrived at the park, I was surprised that there was so much to look at. It's not like most…read moreparks. This one has a pioneer village with log cabins, a museum (which was closed for a private event during my visit), and canal boat rides. The village is open to walk through and includes the Case Reed House which was moved from downtown to this site around 1986. The house was converted to a hotel for travelers after being a private residence. The canal boats are colorful and provide guided tours for those who wish to take the trip. I didn't have time to go on the ride, so I can't say how much it costs or how often the rides leave the dock. There is also a trail that runs through the park along the canal. This is a nice piece of local history from an era when Indiana thought it could be a navigable transportation area with the help of canals. Review #2792
