He went out of his way to help my father get everything he needed before dinner, and his kindness didn't stop there. He was so thoughtful and caring with my daughter, giving her a sticker that instantly made her smile. Seeing that smile meant the world to me. Chris was polite, genuine, and truly went above and beyond. We need more people like him in this world. Thank you, Chris, for your kindness and for making such a positive impact on our day. I hope you have a wonderful day--you certainly made ours.

If you buy meat here, the butcher will take you to the counter and have the payment process there. I shop here quite frequent and have tried many different types of their meat already. I do find that they sometimes have really good deal if you sign up for their newsletter. There was this one time I was here shopping and I decided to grab my meat first and I told the butcher that I am going to do other shopping and will be back to pay. The other butcher saw the meat sitting at the cashier and put it back. When I went to pay, it was not there but the butcher apologized and didn't realize that I was going to come back. The butcher also gave me two free complementary pork chops. That was really nice of him. So it is better to do all your shopping first and save the meat visit last. I like this place and definitely will be back.

I walked into the butcher shop just prior to closing (hurray that it's one of the rare places open…read moreuntil 6 pm in this shopping area area). I did a quick scan of things not wanting to get too distracted nor hold up their closing routines. I found some perfect items to add to the current groceries I had at the Airbnb & the veggies I picked up across the street. I like that this is be yond just meat cuts. They have freezer & fridge items that add well to many different meals, plus all the typical meat cuts one would expect. They even stock some cheese options, have frozen items like pierogis & broth plus quick meal additions like bacon crumbles (in a small container). I was impressed with the selection of options. Including the quick take away meals too. I also like that a lot of it was from BC. Easy to move around the shop with a few others also grabbing items at the last minute. The way things were displayed & the lighting of areas made it feel way better than a regular butcher shop I'm use to frequenting in back in AB. As I have a farm background, I am always curious to know more on the background of butchers connecting with farmers or at least what farms are working with the butchers when I'm going to be purchasing meat. Something about knowing where your food is from gives it that extra value in my mind. Unfortunately the staff person I chatted with quickly during my purchase didn't know much about the farms, just that a lot are from BC. I hope next time I'm in the PoMo area I can go in earlier. That way I can see their full selection of what's in the main cooler and maybe even get myself a not so typical aggie conversation in the big city. Looking forward to my next shopping trip in the Newport Village & highly recommend you stop at the little butcher to check it out yourself.

'singling out another veggie for special mention'…read more It is 'Baby Gai Choy' ('Chinese Mustard Green'), and was observed on a shelf at LFM druing a recent shopping stop. I had not recalled seeing this particular veggie before. Short-stemmed, with long and broad leaves, bagged (like the other 'choys' sold there), the individual bags standing tall, and the product sure looking fresh. And though I had never tried, or even heard of this veggie before, I decided a good-sized bag was comng hme with me. Wow!! there has been no looking back on this purchase with any regret, we have totally enjoyed it. It has an amazing, distinctive "peppery-mustard" flavour, especially noticeable when used uncooked, or only lightly cooked. For us, making it great to use in sandwiches, or salads. But it retains its flavour when cooked. So can, and has added its wonderful green colour and flavour to dishes I have prepared in the microwave oven, and on the stovetop and indoor griddle. I have really enjoyed how the flavour lingers in the mouth after eating -- a mild, and spicy-warmth. I believe it is the 'baby branded' product that particularly meets my descriptions. Unsure if it is sold, at least to the general public, once it grows and ages much further. Glad I saw, and chose to purchase and try it. But will sure miss it when we have finished what I bought, and may be unable to catch a replacement!
