I was needing some patio door replacements on my older home.They are one of a few companies that carry the Okna Brand. I did find them online. Owner came out did a quote. -Allen Meister. Price was fair. He also guarantees his labor for 10 years. He is honest and knows his stuff. He was not pushy like some of the other window companies out there. He promptly returned phone calls for questions. They just recently finished installing 2 sets of patio doors. The owner is onsite and does the work. He was very nice and pleasant. Meister is way out west so they didn't show up on the radar at first when we were getting quotes for a whole house window replacement. But through our research on window manufacturers, Okna kept showing up as the best - as in better performance than Pella but without the marketing hype. I think Meister might be the only ones to carry Okna in Chicagoland. They were also the second lowest quote out of about ten. So it ended up being an easy decision. We liked that Allen and his son do the installation themselves- since installation is just as important as the window. We couldn't be happier with the result. Looks amazing. The house is VERY quiet now. And there's a noticeable difference in how cool the rooms are when the sun is coming up in the morning. I suspect my days of plastic window covers during winter are also over. read more

December 2017 After getting multiple quotes from window replacement companies, we chose Meister Windows and Siding because they are family owed (you deal directly with Allen, the owner, from start to finish), they don't subcontract the work out, and they had the best price for the windows we wanted. We just had Mesiter Windows & Siding replace all our 31 windows and one patio door before the winter hits. Allen, the owner, has deep knowledge about a variety of windows and helped us choose the right windows for our house. He also offered a really good price for their high quality windows. At the end, we decided to install Okna 800 triple pane for all bedrooms, Okna 400 double pane for the basement and garage, and Okna 800 double pane for all the rest. Our patio door doesn't have standard size but we still want internal mini-blinds, so we went with Soft-lite's Kingsroyal instead. It took Allen and his son, Shane, five hard working days to finish all the installation. They cleaned up everyday, so there was no interference with our daily life at all. The final result is just amazing. Inside, we can definitely feel more comfortable, warmer and no more condensations. Outside, I really love the contour they put on the aluminum wraps and such extra detail looks so sharp and matches our colonial style house very well. They performed a full house Okna casement window replacement & a new patio door on our home in La Grange. Allen recommended the patio door replacement & he was so right! We love our new beautiful patio door with toe lock. It feels so sturdy & slides like a dream. I did a ton of research on the best windows and best installation companies. I met with 9 total window companies. In the end, I narrowed the window manufacturers down to Okna and Soft-lite. Meister happened to sell/install both. Allen and his son came out to show me both windows. They were very straightforward on pros and cons and they didn't try to pull any sales tricks like some of the other companies I met with did. Their pricing was also very fair. In the end, I ended up going with the Soft-lite windows. Three months later Meister came out to install the windows (8 total). I also had them install ~90' of 6" gutters w/ guards and soffit. Over the course of three days, they worked very hard to get everything done. They were friendly and courteous. Just overall nice guys doing great work. The window screen frames from the factory were a bit sub-par. Allen noticed this while installing and ordered me replacement frames which just got installed today. Soft-lite got involved too and sent a very nice guy out to help. Everything looks great and I couldn't be happier going with Meister. They really care about their clients and do great work. They even added some very nice decorative capping around the windows. We plan on re-doing our family room in a few years and there is no doubt I'll be having Meister do the windows. Excellent working with Allen Meister from start to finish! Product quality is excellent and pricing is fair. He was honest and very easy to work with. The workmanship of installation is very well done. I left for work in the morning and came home each day to find the new windows and sliding glass door replaced with wood trim and blinds intact and construction messes vacuumed up! Meister Windows & Siding have just finished installing 26 windows in my house (July 2014). They did a fantastic job. Their price was half of that of their competition. They also found me very affordable financing. With each window they took care to move furniture and take down window treatments, etc and then cleaned up afterwards re-hanging everything that I had on each window (curtains, blinds, shades, etc...) the way it was before. Al Meister and son Shane are the best. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you consider them for a couple reasons. They do EXCELLENT work and they are family owned and operated. I read everyone else's reviews and decided to call Al to get a quote for all of my downstairs windows and a sliding glass door. All the reviews about being timely, and cleaning up, and seeming like they were never there is all true. Their pricing is very competitive and they will be there to service my warranty in the future. There was a problem with one window frame and they wanted the install to be exactly right so they came back on a special trip to resolve the problem. Meister Windows and Siding are great folks to help you with new windows and they are good folks to get to know. I am also very impressed with the Okna window and glad I made the decision to install Okna windows. I can already tell the difference in my house and I havent even finished replacing all the windows yet! I will be using them in the spring to do the rest of my windows in the house. In 2014 we moved from Andersonville, Chicago to Arlington Heights for the excellent school district and beautiful neighborhood. We purchased a 2200 sq ft home built in 1965 which required a bit of work. As our home inspector said "your house has good bones but eventually the big items would need to be replaced" meaning furnace, windows, soffits, gutters and roof. Since we had 5 years left on the roof...the windows, soffits and gutters came first. After reading Consumer Reports window #1 ratings of Simonton we decided to get bids from Home Depot and Olson (located on Angies-list). Working with subcontractors on expensive projects typically spells disaster so Olson had a huge advantage over Home Depot. They offered me a fair price with their experienced crew. Unfortunately I couldn't get myself to love the Simonton windows regardless of the Consumer Report review. They were economical windows but appeared inferior to other windows that I tested just opening and closing. I spent many more hours reviewing Simonton, Marvin Integrity, Gilkey and Okna. I narrowed it down to Gilkey and Okna because of their higher performance and online quality reviews. In the end, I selected the Okna 800/ Enviro-Star because they have highest air infiltration/draft ratings in the industry at .001 and appear to be a more modern style, whereas the Gilkey appear fortress like thick. Okna windows are manufactured at a modern plant in Bristol, PA. I read they are a major window supplier in the New England area so I felt they could standup against the harsh Chicago winters. Now I just needed to locate a contractor that supported this product. I found 2 installers that supported Okna windows in Illinois and determined Meister Windows and Siding was the best contractor for my job. Meister Windows and Siding is a family business operating by word of mouth since 1963 although they just recently added a website www.meisterwindowssiding.com . Allan Meister and his son Shane are expert carpenters and were taught their masterful skills and integrity from their father/grandfather which allows them to identify and correct problems. These little glitches typically appear in older homes during installation and in my case were automatically corrected at no additional charge to me. The amazing thing is that Meister Windows price for 21 Okna 800 Enviro-Star triple pane windows wasn't much more than the inferior Simonton windows. I must mention the Okna windows also include ThruVision screens at no additional cost. You can't tell that you're looking through a screen...just amazing! Since I had room left in my budget Meister Windows and Siding also replaced my soffits and gutters. My gutters are the thicker gauge 6" variety not the 5" standard. Their installation looks wonderful and passersby's have asked for Meister Windows and Siding phone number. No one likes to write a large check after purchasing a home but Allen and Shane Meister made it a lot easier. One last thing to mention: Yes they do travel daily from the Kankakee area to support the suburbs of Chicago with their quality work . read more
