Even before the garage door frame was in place for our renovated garage, they came out to help me understand the options because we had some tricky issues. The pre-install guidance was incredibly helpful, because it informed where we placed electrical lines, whether we framed out one door or two, how wide and high we framed the door, etc. And when I finally narrowed it down to two colors, instead of just getting me a tiny swatch deck they ordered an actual panel so I could really hold it up and see what it would look like! They were great about communicating any delivery delays (not their fault, all due to pandemic and manufacturing / shipping delays) and unfailingly polite. The garage door took a while to come in, but as soon as they had it in their hands they got out here right away to install it. During install they recognized that the windows in the top garage panel were slightly off center. Before I even said a word, they brought it to my attention and said they had already contacted the manufacturer and would bring out a replacement panel ASAP. I really appreciated that. Keith immediately flagged the issue and got it fixed. At the end of the install, they gave me a complete tutorial on operation and maintenance. When I couldn't open the door one day (which was my bad - operator error, nothing wrong with the door), they answered the phone immediately and kindly talked me through the process for fixing my error. If this review seems overly glowing, it's because I don't bother to write reviews unless something is really good or really bad. And these guys were that good. They do not offer any discount or incentive for writing a review. I just think someone working this hard to do a good job and excel at customer service should be noted. Instead, they can't bother to figure out what 2 simple gutter pieces cost, & wanting to fill the holes w/hydraulic cement (insane), they just list a labor charge, & ask for 10% down, labor & material billed daily, & a credit card on file, I called them to speak to a total incompetent who then hands it over to Dick Hoerr, who called me a "social idiot", and a "moron", & that he'd never do a job for me. As if I would EVER consider a contractor who would call me filthy names & doesn't even know how to do the job. You don't pour 20-30 ft. of hydraulic cement in the holes - you cover the holes with rubber or aluminum & then coat that w/a small amount of hydraulic cement. Then, in his answer to one of the numerous negative reviews, he writes: "We are the highest rated handyman company on Angie's in the United States and we are located here in Chicago. I personally live in the Chicagoland Area. Simply put this is one of those landlords that attempts to beat down labor after they work on his home in an effort to maximize his profit. He says one thing in a review and then did the exact opposite." BEWARE and DON'T USE THEM!

I've been wondering if we need a new roof or roof repairs due to recent hail, and some water…read moreintrusion on our first floor right above one window. Had three other companies come out, and the first one said, need new roof soon and new siding soon, within 4 years. Next one said, need new roof immediately and could use new siding. Third one said need new roof in around 7 years. hmmmm..... Out comes Berg roofing--my 4th estimate. Guy says to me, your architectural shingles are in fabulous shape. The reason they look uneven to you is because they're very long, and overlap. They are not damaged by hail (or very little). Wait until you see see the coating that is on them in your gutter downspouts. They are coated with granules. They withstand up to 130 mph winds. That roof will last you indefinitely. Do you have leaks on second floor, he asks me. No. He goes inside house. Looks at 2 small leaks above first floor window. I ask, is it the siding. He says, no, it's probably a lack of insulation around that area, in the first floor ceiling. Is this the first time you've gotten moisture? I say, yes, first time in 16 years. He says try not to use a whole house humidifier (I rarely do, although I did run it for a month this past winter). He adds either circle them in pencil or cover them with Kilz and see if they re-appear next spring. If they do, call an insulation company or dry wall company, and have them add insulation around where the moisture appears. He says, it's not the window, not the siding, not the roof. It's a lack of insulation, and when the cooling turns into warming around spring, the area defrosts, and if there's not enough insulation, you can get small water spots. OMG! Is this the only honest roofing company out there? I was so impressed. Guess where we'll go when we need new roofing?

He also worked with our timing, as we were delayed in signing the contract until our insurance could do their inspection of our roof. Nick provided us with plenty of color options and was upfront with cost options too. On the day of, Berg roofing team was prompt in arrival time and cleaned up all the trash around the house afterwards. They finished up in a day! It was quite impressive.
