    Black sesame soup
    Amanda C.

Got their black sesame soup dessert for takeout. It was quiet and no other patrons but some seating. Service was fine! The black sesame soup was very good and the rice balls were perfectly soft and chewy. Would def return and order other things if I'm nearby!

It even has managed to impress friends who don't adventure too far outside of their own American culinary tastes. The sweets here are the perfect amount of sweet. The savory items also contain a perfect hint of sweetness that somehow ties it all together. I've even had a matcha (less sugar) made here and my God it was unexpectedly delicious. I usually spend about $20-ish and share my bag full of goodies with my folks. I love that you can get a lot with a little -- the dollar still stretches here! Sometimes their open hours are a bit off, as if been before during regular hours and they've been closed. I'll also add that the entrance can be confusing as Family Baking shares space or simply is owned by Rolls Village. None of this stops me from stopping by. The cherry on top is that the service is truly phenomenal. I love being greeted where I spend money, and the guy who frequently mans the cash register has such great energy. He's efficient as hell too! When I visited, he skipped through the tipping portion of the POS both times... so I'm not sure if they accept tips but I won't complain too much about that LOL. Go!!!

We were also looking for a general late afternoon snack... small enough that we could still eat a full dinner. Paris Baguette delivered on both of these items. Overall, I was impressed with the selection of everything. I had K-dogs on the brain for some reason and the closest I could get to that was the pastry frank. My niece had the hash brown bread with ham and cheese. I definitely preferred the latter a bit more, mostly because it's rare to find potatoes served in this way. We took a variety of the mochi donuts home. They tasted a bit stale unfortunately. I'd definitely come back to try the croissants, cakes, and other offerings. It was not particularly busy when we were there so it was easy to find parking right out front and be served right away.

Most notable was the cleanliness of the store and the amount of customers coming in and out. I was informed by a young lady at the cash register that the cake would need to be made fresh and it would take anywhere between 10 to 15 minutes to complete. I agreed to wait for the time and provided my card for the purchase and was not provided with a receipt. After 10 minutes, I re-entered the store after waiting in my car and the cake still was not completed. I waited in an additional 20 minutes for the cake. I was handed the box and left on my way. My family and I cut the cake and discovered that there was molded strawberries on top. It was slightly difficult to detect due to the fuzzy white nature of the mold and the cream that was also white in color. We immediately stopped eating the cake. With many festivities happening with our family, we reached out to Paris baguette and was provided with a phone number for the owner to follow up. We have been in correspondence back-and-forth in order to try to rectify this situation, but the response has been somewhat slow, despite the fact, there are photos of the cake and a transaction from the bank, despite not having a receipt. This is a quick situation to fix with issuing a refund and apology, but that has not happened thus far. Our family has consistently used Paris Baguette at various locations for special events and have always been satisfied with the products that we have received. More training perhaps is needed and how to handle a customer who is dissatisfied with the product and also in how to rectify situations moving forward.

My future in-laws live on the other side of the country and they surprised me with a box of a dozen whoopies pies for my birthday. It was so cool getting something different, and it was super convenient for them to order online and have them shipped straight to my door. Also, I was living in Washington DC at the time and these traveled very well and still tasted fresh when I got them! Each pie is individually wrapped which is really nice to keep them all fresh. Plus the box they come in is also super cute (bright pink!). They also have lots of flavors to choose from. It looks like they have 8 flavors that are always available, plus two "flavors of the month" that rotate. If you have a whoopie pie lover in your life who has an exciting event coming up, order them some whoopie pies from here. They will be very happy you did!

I'd get it again, but ask for no ice because it took me so long to finish my drink anyway. The taro butterfly was good with a real taro paste inside. It wasn't too sweet either or too small. I didn't want something chocolately or savory, so this was a good pick for me (for ~$3). There is free wifi and free parking in the Asian Square. It was really loud sitting by the black tables/chairs because of the music they were playing/blasting. But by the booth/couch area, it was a bit quieter. The booth has a couple of outlet plugs behind the pinkish seats.

Whoops! This is an overdue review from December…read more Xela Pan Cafe is a Guatemalan restaurant/bakery/convenience store on Buford Hwy in Doraville. Just a quick warning that, depending on which employee helps customers, there may be a slight issue with their understanding of English. They absolutely speak and understand Spanish. Xela Pan Cafe is in a small strip mall that is next to the strip mall where Kung Fu Tea is located. There is limited parking in front of the storefronts. This small business is made up of a restaurant, a bakery and a convenience store all run by the same employees. The convenience store sells a lot of seemingly random items, just about all in glass display cases. I noticed a lot of things to help with digestion and upset stomach, and hoped that this wasn't an indication of their food (Thankfully, it turned out that it wasn't!). The bakery items were in a separate area of display cases, but customers are free to self-serve themselves by using a tray to place whatever they choose, using either tongs or disposable gloves (I can't remember which they use) to take the items out of the cases. R and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning just before 9 am. There is an order counter, but that's for customers who are ordering items to go. Once the employees found out that we were going to eat breakfast inside the restaurant, we were told to seat ourselves and an employee would be by soon with menus. The restaurant area contains mostly booths, with some tables and chairs in an area between the order counter, convenience store and bakery areas. A very helpful and knowledgeable server came by our table, bringing a couple of glasses of water and menus. For a small restaurant, there were many items on the menu. We both ordered the scrambled eggs, rice, black beans, plantains and cheese. We didn't wait very long, in spite of other customers lined up at the counter to order takeout meals. The scrambled eggs with tomato and onion in them tasted a little bland, but I dressed it up with some bottled red hot sauce that was on the table. The plain tasting white rice, which had peas, carrots and corn in it, was pressed into a heart shape. The black beans in its watery sauce were very good. The plantains were cooked to a perfect firmness, and had a perfectly matching natural sweetness to them. The small block of slightly salty cheese also had a nice firmness to it. The price for each meal was very reasonable. Overall, this was a good dining experience.

There are certain things they make better than others. For instance, the chuchitos are pretty good! The Pepian that I ordered didn't really taste like Pepian, but more like a guisado. It was still pretty good, it just wasn't Pepian haha ! They have traditional drinks and they even have pan francés! The Guatemalan snacks they have are very convenient when you have antojos! I would say the service is pretty friendly and the ambiance is pretty authentic! We have been here several times and will definitely return!

This is also the first time I've seen vegan pineapple buns (I didn't try them though)! I got the regular Hong Kong style pineapple buns and thought they were decent! I also tried their traditional milk tea and added boba. I wasn't a huge fan of the boba since it's the slightly harder kind and not the round black chewy tapioca balls, but it was okay. The tea itself was a little sweet so if there's a next time I would ask for less sugar! Their coffee toast was really tasty! It's so fluffy and yet part of it tastes like coffee cake! I've never tasted anything like that! The person at the counter was really nice as well!
