Mike was highly recommended by a longtime dear family friend, an experienced realtor in my hometown. The process of finding and trusting a new realtor was a bit intimidating because we did not know any realtors in the city where we wanted to purchase a home, and buying a home is a very serious and complicated matter. Our previous experience buying a home was buying a brand-new home, and that is an entirely different process from buying a beautiful home that is 110 years old. However, it was quickly evident we were in excellent hands with Mike.
However, we knew we wanted a home in really good shape, with only a few needed repairs. We also knew the area we wanted to live in, Roseville, CA.
We had been watching the market for months, saw a new listing for our "ideal home", and, long story short, in two days, we traveled four hours to Roseville to check out the home with the intention of buying if it checked all the boxes. Mike immediately arranged a private showing (the morning before the open house). We loved the home; it checked all the boxes! Mike advised submitting an offer that night, and we did. It was accepted two days later. We closed on the home two weeks after that.
Yes, it was all extremely overwhelming, and Mike was the perfect agent to have by our side.
I cannot say enough good things about Mike. He was extremely knowledgeable about the area, as he's lived nearby for many years. He was very patient and explained all the steps involved in buying a home. He thoroughly reviewed each inspection report with us and explained city ordinances and real estate law as needed. My husband is very detail-oriented, a builder knowledgeable of all the home builder trades, kind of person; almost no one gets his stamp of approval, but Mike did.
Mike was familiar and had cultivated trusting relationships with various property inspectors, identified problem areas that needed repair, and provided references for plumbers, contractors, and handymen as needed to complete the repairs.
Mike constantly multitasked with his team, the seller's realtor, and the Title company. He answered our calls promptly, day or night, and followed through on every task, going above and beyond throughout the process. He explained each step of the process and why it should be done in the order presented. He ensured all inspections were completed properly and reordered a few that were missing key details until we had all the information we needed, which was an arduous process. There were a few other legal tasks in the mix that Mike's professionalism and contacts helped us complete, ensuring we met all contractual contingencies on time.
Mike exemplified his creed of fairness and good intentions, and of maintaining good relationships with both the seller and the buyer. This, no doubt, was influential in our offer being accepted two days after we submitted it, and we were chosen over a higher bid (with less attractive contingencies). Mike crafted the terms of our offer to be both respectful and the most beneficial to our family and the seller, despite other offers on the table.
