I was referred to a private OBGYN by my PCP as I have been on oral birth control for 10+ years and wanted to discuss the option of the non-hormonal copper IUD. The provider did not even have a discussion and simply asked what I wanted. So we schedule to have the IUD placed when my period starts. I call when it starts and she only works two days a week so my period would be over by the time she is in. So wait another month, well now she is on vacation during my period. I become frustrated and look for another OBGYN to place the IUD. Everyone wants two visits: one initial and one to place. I work full-time and to take that much time off work doesn't fit every patient. As a supporter of Planned Parenthood, I thought hm why don't I call them. The woman on the phone was very kind and informative. She informed me I could have the IUD same day. Also you can book appointments online. I went in that afternoon and saw Melissa Wilson who was super informative. Talked about various IUDs. I like how she asked about abuse as this was never been asked at any OBGYN appointment I have attended. So I had it placed that day. It was painful. Very. Melissa was so encouraging and took her time to coach me through the placement. The whole staff were really incredibly kind. I will support Planned Parenthood every chance I get. Thank you!

The first time I saw Stephanie Hall we consulted before having my IUD placed. She was slightly off…read moreputting and not very nice. That's definitely not a requirement for GYN's but when you're about to have a piece of metal shoved inside your cervix, it would be kind of comforting. The second appointment I had with her, I got a checkup on my IUD and I asked her if I could cut my septate hymen, which had been interfering with my sex life. I requested numbing medication and she quickly argued with me and said that it would be more pain to get numbing medication. I hesitantly agreed, now a million times more scared because she's about to cut a part of my vagina off, with no pain medication. She then gave me the option of cutting it completely off or just cutting the middle. Initially, I wanted it completely gone, but without the numbing medication I was scared and overwhelmed. She told me to lay back and she would get ready while I decided. I couldn't decide and I started to panic as she sat down with with my hymen between her fingertips. She hurriedly asked me if I'd decided yet and told me I was running out of time and joked that she was going to decide for me, the nurse helping her laughed. I nervously chuckles and apologized, beginning to explain that it's a hard decision and I was scared. Before I had the chance to finish explaining, she cut my hymen. Once, in the middle. It shocked me, I screamed out in pain and shock. She laughed and said, 'there that wasn't so bad, was it?'. She then left the room without saying anything to me and the nurse explained to me that there might be some bleeding for the next few days and if it hurts to just take a tylenol. I sat there in shock, bleeding all over and eventually broke down in tears. I've had many gynecologist experiences and this was hands down the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor. I explained to him that I had a previous diagnosis of PCOS and have had moments of intense/excruciating pain before (when I believed a cyst was bursting) but it would pass, I had never experienced persistent pain like this before. I had been to an OBGYN that did a physical exam and said my uterus was fixed and he could feel one of my ovaries was enlarged. This OBGYN was who told me I most likely had endometriosis, but unfortunately he only did ablation-not excision surgery. I then went to a different OBGYN that was horrible! He acted like he was listening but completely dismissed everything and told me that it sounds like I just have IBS. I left that office and got to my car and cried. I immediately started looking for another doctor and that's when I found Dr. Roehl. During my appointment with Dr. Roehl he immediately validated what I had been feeling and agreed that it sounded like endometriosis. He made me feel so comfortable and answered any and all questions I had! I had my laparoscopic endometriosis excision surgery on 12/18/2025. He found stage 3 endometriosis on my ovaries, uterus, bowel and bladder. I could not recommend Dr. Roehl enough! He is so kind and knowledgeable!
