This place has literally been a saving grace for myself; despite having to walk five blocks with a load of washing to make this great service happen. The staff are so super friendly; there is never an issue with wanting to change any notes into gold coins to use the self service washing machines and dryers. The prices are so affordable, yet my clothes are washed and dried within an hour. For only $12 a pop this is exceptional. This price includes both washing and drying. To cut a long story short: the landlord of my fully furnished city apartment has still not fulfilled on her promise to buy me a new washing machine as the current one is not working despite repairs. I have given up, and within good reason. I mean why own a washing machine and/or dryer when you have Melbourne City Dry Cleaners come to the rescue? Point taken. My clothes feel smooth and great to wear after a great wash and dry using commercial grade washing machines and dryers, once again for a great price. Bring a book to read; call people you need to catch up with; play games on your mobile phone or get out there and go for walks while you are waiting for your clothes to wash and dry. This review is for my fellow travellers confined to hostels with no dryers. Call me American but I don't play that hang/air dry game when it comes to laundry. Ain't nobody got time for that! So this laundromat/dry cleaner is located east in the CBD. Not too near my first place but the tram is free round trip. The place is small, I counted maybe ten dryers and ten washers. I'm only interested in drying and you currently get ten minutes for $2. The layout is all wrong but that's due to space. A bench seat is located in front of the washers and if it's packed you'll have to musical chair it or stand. I'm not griping just giving the facts. There is also one high folding table. In all fairness I don't think this place is ever packed but in my visit they had steady foot traffic for dry cleaning. As long as I stay in the CBD this is my spot. Again, hang dry is for the birds. read more

Very unfriendly people. Not sure why they are doing a business that involves dealing with the public. Both the woman and the man I interacted with, seem completely fed up and over it! Rushed me when I dropped off clothes, even though I wanted to ask about getting a stain out. And wouldn't give me the washing the same afternoon without taking a photocopy of my drivers licence, even though my name was on the washing! Who else would walk in that same day and ask for my washing and know how much I paid when I dropped it off? It felt like an episode of Seinfeld, you know the one... "No clothes for you!!!" A well established and well operated service. Extended trading hours are a big plus. However the prices are extraordinarily high. I cannot recommend MCDC unless you need an after hours service, and then know that you're paying a premium. read more

Poor customer service from the man that owns the place, Gavin. Despite having established myself as a frequent customer, he is: 1) Generally unfriendly 2) Unapologetic, even aggressive, when he's unable to fulfill the same-day wash service that I paid for 3) Extremely strict with the time cut-offs for same-day service I've since discovered that my hotel contracts with external laundry service companies that offer pick-up services for the same price as this shop. We dropped off our laundry for the wash and fold service around 9am and picked it up at 4:30pm. I was pleasantly surprised to find everything completely dry. This never happens! brought brand new sheridan bedsheets for dry cleaning only to find one set of sheet came out with various stains on it, and the rest with creases all over them when i explicitly said they need to be pressed properly. The shop manager tried to make an excuse by saying that the creases are from the folds. BUT THE CREASES ARE EVERYWHERE IN EVERY DIRECTION!!! He eventually accepted to redo them and this time they atleast pressed it a bit better than before. But the stained bedsheet still had a bit of stain left that they could not get off. Can't believe they have all those awards posted all over the shop, they are nowhere near even a decent dry cleaner, I don't know if they've changed owners or perhaps they are fake to begin with. Seeing as these are expensive new sheets ruined on the first day, i would NEVER go back here again and I suggest you heed my warning. read more

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience. I took my suit in for dry cleaning the other day. I should say that my suit did have quite a lot of alcohol stains on it, but when I recieved my suit the next day they clearly hadn't noticed a couple of signficant stains on the back of the collar. Moreover, they slightly damaged some of the threads on the shoulder of the suit. Probably a fine service for shirts etc but for quality garments probably not worth the $20 :) read more

I visited this dry cleaner for the first time with a bag of washing I needed to get done. The person manning the store suggested I use their industrial machine which was $10. He put it all in and upon completion of the load, the spin cycle had not been successful because the machine was overloaded. I explained my predicament to the other staff member, who despite knowing that the other guy advised me to use that machine, insisted that it was my own fault for taking his advice. So it was my responsibility to pay another $16 so that my items could be washed again. His attitude was incredibly rude, and honestly i was surprised to be spoken to in such a way. I mentioned that I would be a recurring customer, doing washing daily, and he told me that it made no difference to him. Glad I spent $26 washing my stuff, was treated like trash and wasted an hour of my life. I would advise against going here, i'm sure there are a number of other places who have no trouble exhibiting common decency. read more
