no photos are allowed without permission for some reason they have that posted everywhere but not the price of anything. the staff (owner?) is horribly rude and unpleasant to be around. i felt very unwelcome in the store, luckily it was only two aisles long so i was able to leave quickly. the selection of buldak ramen noodles was very good in both the single packets and packs of 5. this market had the same selection of kitkat that world market has except 3 times more expensive from this place. the few things i did purchase were very overpriced. would not recommend this store even as a last resort. read more

Really good selection oriental store ran by a husband and wife team , they seem very knowledgeable of products and very willing to help explain things and what you may need to cook with. The husband does follow u around the store a bit and they will try to get u to buy things u don't need but hey comes w the territory lol. If I could give zero stars, I would. As others have said, the "lady" at the front counter was one of the most unpleasant, unfriendly employees I have ever encountered! When we came in and said hello, she just glared at us. My wife wanted to take a picture of a product that her brother overseas likes, and the woman yelled, "NO PICTURES!!" We just looked at each other, shook our heads and headed for the door. As we were leaving, the woman's dog started going crazy at the counter, lunging for us and barking wildly. If she hadn't held it back, I have no doubt we would have gotten bit. How this place is even in business is beyond me. The Korean place on N Wickham is big, clean, much bigger selection and nicer people. Go there. Avoid this place at all costs! read more

So me, my Mom and my sister ate at the diner next to this store. They burnt something while we were eating so we all smelt like smoke. After breakfast, we went to this Oriental market, walked into a lady and a dog sitting on her counter. Said hello and got no response which is fine. So not even a minute in the store, the lady stood up and said (in a very demeaning way) 'can you go outside because your food stink' referring to my Mom's takeout box which is an omelet. We all looked at each other and then back to her and she was holding up her index finger covering her nostrils then she again said rudely 'go outside, it stink' while pointing at the door. The dog sitting on the counter started barking and yapping at us so we just decided to leave the establishment. This is no exaggeration, we were a little embarrased on how we were talked to, which she could have relayed nicely, esp being their costumers. read more

I recently moved to the area and found this place on accident while on a visit with my son to Home Depot. I had a really uncomfortable and awkward experience. I arrived in the evening with my son and within 4' of entering the door of the establishment, One of the clerks repeatedly asked me what I was planning on cooking that night. To which I replied I had no dinner plans yet was just looking for inspiration. He then proceeded to follow me son until half way down the isle when he stops us to thrust a basket at us. As I tried to look around and take inventory of the bands that this market offer (as I have already been to other markets both on 192 and malabar) to see IF their prices and quality was better. (Spoiler, they only seem to stock the cheapest brands of ramuné and had hardly any fresh herbs) By the time I reach the back of the store the male store clerk had been following a few feet behind my son and I the entire time to the point that my 10 year old son tells me he's feeling uncomfortable and wishes to leave because of the man. We continue to move along and then the same clerk approaches us from the front of the store in an aggressive manner speaking hastily to the point I don't understand him, he suddenly takes the empty shopping basket from my hands. I explain I'm "confused as to what is happening" he says "you're confused I'm not confused!" Proceeding to confuse me even more. I look to the female clerk pleadingly and reply "I just said that I am confused." In all my years shopping in ethnic markets across the country and world I have never been treated so poorly before nor treated with such disrespect in front of my child as the clerks/owners of this establishment did. Needless to say I will continue to spend my money Fil-Am grocer on Malabar or "Asian Grocery" on 192 near trulieve. At least they make my visits there pleasant and enjoyable. read more

I love this market. The staff is very helpful. If you have questions about food items or how to properly prepare each food, the staff was happy to explain to me. They have natto! I have been looking everywhere for natto and I finally found it. Great selection of rice that you can buy in small or large bags. So many choices. I didn't really get into asian food until after I'd moved away from Brevard County. So I was super excited to explore what Melbourne had for asian grocers! I knew to temper my expectation since I live in an area where giant asian supermarkets abound but I was pretty psyched. My mom and I were actually on a specific quest. A quest for natto. If you've had natto you either love it or hate it or love to hate it and eat it anyways for its health benefits. My mom's on a health kick and is convinced she'll love natto (yeah, sure). We'd been to a Korean grocer in Melbourne prior to this to no avail. This grocery was far more pan asian! The gentleman at the register was Singaporean and oh so friendly and helpful! We roamed the aisles of the store looking at all the neat stuff I don't know what to do with - YET. The fridges and freezers were full of tasty goodness and fresh veggies and dumplings. And, right as I was about to give up - I FOUND NATTO! Three kinds, actually! We found the kind that had the least number of ingredients and got it. We also picked up some frozen mochi (not ice cream, it has bean paste inside) - so good. My mom bought herself some green tea as well. During check out the guy provided us with a small cardboard box for our goodies and was super friendly and talking to me about my asian travels. All in all a great experience and now my mom knows where to go close to home for her asian necessities! read more

This must have a new owner with a Shitzu dog because they were both there today. The guy followed me around and kept trying to sell me stuff. I was just looking for frozen dim sum and boba tea. I was going to buy a bag of rice crackers for 6.95 and since I did not have cash he wanted 10 dollars. It just makes me nervous when people push things on me. I also asked for Thom Ka soup mix and apparently they don't carry that, Actually the dog was cute, but the service was not as good as I have heard about. There is a pocked sized market near me on S. Babcock and University Blvd. E next to 7-11. They have homeade dim sum and dumplings. I will write them up next because they are awesome. read more

They are the nicest, most knowledgeable couple and always guide us in the right direction when we're trying to re-create and try new dishes. If you know exactly what you want and are perfectly happy to be escorted to what you want and then pressured to purchase it then this might work for you. This is not the sort of place that you should go if you want to just look around and might purchase multiple items of Interest. It may be a cultural difference but I found them to be very pushy. I went looking for a product and found the price to be much higher than what I usually pay so I said no thank you. He proceeded to try to push me into purchasing it, which I understand you've got to make a dollar, but it was a situation I'm not used to and I don't like to encouraged by purchasing things. They do seem to have a nice orderly store but if you want to take any amount of time and actually look at things and read the labels in the ingredients and things like that.. don't bother coming here. I felt like I was being rushed out of the store and I felt like he was watching me like I was going to steal something because I didn't want to buy his overpriced product. There's a much more relaxed nicer but less orderly place down the road towards 95 called Jason's Best Produce that you'll find similar items for a much better price and much more inventory. I'm sure that the other store was very nice but I found it to be very overpriced in comparison to other similar markets and I imagine he's probably very knowledgeable about things but I found his ways to be very pushy which made me very uncomfortable and cause me to leave the store without purchasing anything. Again there is a possibility that this is a cultural difference but I just don't find this sort of tactic to be pleasant and would prefer to take my business elsewhere. Yeah, this guy has a personality problem, or is looking for a problem. When we walked in he gave us this sourpuss 'sizing us up' sort of look, like we'd walked into his living room rather than a store. He immediately asked my wife about her ethnicity, which she answered. She then asked him for a particular product, which he ignored completely. I walked a few feet to the back of the store to find his relative or coworker head down in her phone with a Shitzu standing on top of a table, barking at me. I immediately started up the other aisle to the front. A moment later he appeared at the top of the aisle to see if I'm stealing anything and asked me the same insipid question about my wife's ethnicity. I repeated what she'd said, and added "same thing she just told you." Him: "You don't know?" (with a little shitster smile on his face) Me (like talking to a misbehaving child): "I do know. She is xxx, same as she just told you." In most parts of the world, getting snarky on the subject of somebody's wife is not a great idea. I hope he runs into a central Florida redneck who gives him a class in local cultural awareness. As for us, we simply left at that point without buying anything. The store itself is quite small (two short aisles) and wouldn't be worth stopping in unless the owners were exceptionally nice people, which they are not. read more
