I couldn't be happier with our experience with Rachelle. The photos of my newborn daughter are stunning, and I mean ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. The pictures are truly timeless treasures and I will cherish them forever. Her attention to detail was incredible and she handled my 9 day old baby with such care! Additionally, she was accommodating to our every request. I asked for a specific pose to match my son's newborn photos (taken by a different photographer when we lived out of state), and she nailed it perfectly. As a bonus, the studio is conveniently located next to an amazing deli, which was perfect for grabbing a bite during the session. There is plenty of parking and the studio vibe is chill. Julie comes to your home (or location I suppose) and shoots real people using "natural light". You look like you, but softer and nicer. There's nothing gimmicky or staged about her work and after looking at a million photos on Pinterest, I decided that's exactly what I wanted. You can get cheaper shots done at JCP or the like, but people always look a little pastey and you only have a 15 minute window, so you'd better hope your little one isn't crying (for all new moms out there-- that's all infants do). You can also get much pricer photographers, if you're a Tom Cruise/Katie Holmes kind of couple and that's important to you. But I figure, kids change fast and I'll need her to do this annually. For that kind of budget, she's the right pick. It was easy enough to get ahold of her to book the appointment and she was flexible with her dates and times. Fast forward to day of: the little rascal was a crying mess, but Julia wasn't fazed, she was willing to stay as long as it took to get the photos we wanted. Admittedly, baby, husband and I were tired before she was...I probably should have waited until he was a few weeks older to do this. Nevertheless, we shot in different rooms of the house and I didn't feel rushed at all. You can choose a sitting fee (which is comparable to professional photographer' stuido fees, but less than their "on site" fees) and then buy photos a la carte (which is what I did) or you can purchase packages where you will own the rights to the digital prints (prolific facebookers will love these options). Also, I saved 10% for paying the sitting fee in cash. I used it toward the purchase of prints. Full disclosure: I know Julia's husband through work circles and that's how I discovered her work.

The photographs are so beautiful, we have an entire gallery wall in our home of Chelsey's work. She is amazing! Not only are her skills phenomenal, but her personality is so fun to work with. My husband and I were as photo-awkward as can be during our engagement shoot, but she joked and laughed with us and made us feel sooo comfortable. She has a ton of poses and advice in her arsenal, and really caters to you. I Know that I'll be using her for maternity shoots, family photos, etc. as the years come and go. Truly an artist. We had Christine photograph our family when our son was 6 months old and she was awesome!…read more Christine helped us brainstorm in advance where to go take the photos and when the weather turned out foggy that day (as it often does in SF), she gave us her expert advice on where we could go to have the best lighting and effect. To prepare for the photo session, I sent her some inspiration photos of ideas I liked and she was not only really receptive, but engaged with me in figuring out what would look best, and made sure to capture certain poses I wanted during the photo session. The photo session itself was a lot of fun -- Christine has a great energy about her -- she's relaxed, positive, creative, and just has a way of making you feel comfortable, which is so important to taking great photos! She was a true professional right from the start, introducing herself and calling us by name the moment you arrive at her quaint but classy studio. From the start, she handled the parents, laying down the expectations and the process of getting some keepsake photos of our baby girl and asking us for any desires or input for the shoot. We love our final product! Her naturalistic style is gorgeous! We're happy it wasn't hoaky like some other photographer's albums we've seen... She focuses on the quirks and beauty of your little bundle-o-joy! For those of you who haven't experienced infant photography, it requires some WORK! We have used over the top production like photographers who provide hair and makeup that equates to exorbitant pricing and also other people who basically told us they can deliver the moon and stars and then the final products fell totally flat. We had very bad pictures taken by another photographer and soon after, I stumbled upon Krista from Maylight Studio on Yelp. I hesitated for a second because we didn't really want to spend more money to redo photos when we just paid another photography company and have the whole inconvenience of everyone getting ready again, having to all be in the office at the same time, etc. but in my gut, I felt like we needed to. Let me tell you...Krista delivered!! We are a pretty particular bunch and Krista took many photos and was able to provide each of us (8 in total) with a headshot we all liked. She also worked with our office setting and provided us with a great group photo, utilizing a piece of art already in our office as the backdrop. She's extremely professional, adaptable, and has a good eye for detail. I would without hesitation recommend her for your headshot and group photo needs.
