This was my second time at this Melia resort, last time I was here was 10 years ago!
Despite my rating, I had a blast! My room was clean, which was the most important part! Staff and workers were super kind and attentive. The minor hiccups were the room a/c not cooling too much even when set at a lower temperature and the toilet getting clogged, which was then fixed when I called for help! I would definitely recommend bug spray, mosquitoes inevitably get into your room! I also appreciated the complementary toothbrush/paste and razor upon arrival! The bathrooms include mini oatmeal bar soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and towels!
As for food, there is a wide variety of restaurants and snack bars around! For breakfast, lunch, and dinner there is the buffet. You can never go wrong with the main buffet, open for the whole family, and with a wide variety of meals for everyone to enjoy. I really enjoyed the create your own omelet bar for breakfast and the smoothie bar also, which was loaded with regular milk and almond milk! For lunch, I always enjoyed the buffet by the beach/main pool or the smaller kiosk by the beach; which had bbq ribs, fries, potatoes, and more! For dinner you can make reservations at one of their many restaurants, my favorite being the Mediterranean place called Capri! The only downside to reservations is they must be made in the buffet by the main pool from 9-10, so if you have excursions forget about it, buffet it is for you! If you're 21+ I recommend the adults only buffet called Mosiaco (not open children), super tasty and just overall better presentation of everything! My favorite was the crest your own pasta station, delicious! There were 2 other restaurants, Casta Nostra (Italian) and a Vietnamese place, by reservation only and only for adults, I didn't get to try them but they looked nice on the outside! From a previous perspective, the food this time around was subpar to my first visit here specifically at the main buffet , the food was decent, but nothing to outstanding; I also definitely was able to try all the gastronomic restaurants the first time around.
For bars, there is a bar literally everywhere you can think of! My favorite being the pool bar, who doesn't look a bar by the pool! The pool bartenders this particular week of August the 6th were amazing!! Shoutout to them, I can't remember everyone's name, but they definitely hooked it up and were so patient and kind! Everything is game at the bars, they open at 10 am if I am not mistaken so drink up! You can literally do a bar crawl here if you'd like! My favorite bar was Jigger (adults only side) and my favorite drink there was the Saig on, so refreshing! The hacienda bar, had a spicy margarita, the garden, amongst other specialty cocktails that were all delicious and a must! My all time favorite drink of choice was the passion fruit margarita, a MUST TRY, and ask for a double shot of tequila for a stronger kick!
I checked out the gym while here, open from 6-8, it's small, but enough equipment to get in a quick pump. Not all the equipment you would find at your normal gym, but they do have a decent dumbbell selection, squat rack, leg press, bench, and cardio equipment! So if you're just looking for a quick fix while on vacation, it works!
I always recommend to tip your bartender, servers, or any worker here because they do work hard and deserve it (I typically tipped $1-3 at the bar, and $5-10 at dinner). I was with a group of 20 family members so it was courtesy and appreciation to tip when we went out because we were a big group; we made a large tip pool and would tip in a group matter.
Overall, this place is huge with so many activities, food, bars, etc to enjoy from! 2 main trains that circle around the property to take you from end to end/specific locations, workers on golf carts, and bicycles for rent if not mistaken. There is always a lovely and thrilling show in the main lobby/theater in the evening to enjoy and dance with the kids, family, or solo. The adults only side has a sports themed bar/club to enjoy at night. The views here are amazing and I really loved the boho-ish theme going on. Although my experience was different to 10 years ago, I still enjoyed it with the company I had and memories I created! As for other reviews, I agree there are some things that need renovation and not my whole party had the same room experience so please do call the front desk if you're unhappy to get things situated at once! read more
