This is a peace of mind small resort. From front desk employees to restaurant waiters (incredible coffee and delicious menu) to room cleaning staff (so detailed) to landscaping staff all but all so professional and sweet. The comfortable beds and spacious rooms. My first stay but not my last. I travel to the island once or twice a year and tend to stay up north, but now I have a new favorite place to come to. Price more than reasonable, since it has direct access to beach (so convenient). Btw they have kayaks and other stuff you rent right there. Private parking was a nice plus too. My family loves this resort and raves about it often. It's been their go-to for quick getaways for years now. I was glad to finally spend sone time there and experience it for myself. While it's not upgraded or luxurious, it's ample and basically has everything you need. I was satisfied with the front desk, small railway style room, amenities, the grounds, and the location. It's right off El Combate beach, has its own restaurant, parking, pool, basketball hoop, sand volleyball, a couple of hangout areas. We loved our stay here. The staff was excellent. Especially Tommy, he was so patient with our large loud family. He also gave us great service and recommendations. There are several areas to gather on the property and the private beach is stunning. The food here is great too as well as the prices. I loved that there was a store on site to buy refreshments and other vacation supplies. The only recommendation I'd give is that they need to open the bar area later. A very clean, centric and amazing Parador with the best location you can ask for. Located in the heart of famous Combate and steps from the beach, the place allows you to walk around the area and enjoy the scenery. Be careful going to this place, the application lets you pay the prices, but when you go there, they charge you for everything, for this, for the other, when I checked out they told me an amount and when I left they continued billing me, and when I called, the employee was very poorly informed, the food they serve leaves a lot to say, I don't recommend it at all read more

Firstly, I would not classify this as a "resort", but the bad verbiage aside, but I would say this is a fairly average hotel with decent accommodations. Our family booked two separate rooms; the family studio and the eco suite. We booked it for 3 nights but only stayed for 2. Pros: -very friendly and helpful staff -affordable and tasty breakfast options (try the coffee!) -close to the beach -additional accommodations (kayaks and canoes) available for extra charge Cons: -AC made room smell like B.O. -water wasn't warm in one room -low shower pressure in both rooms -internet does not work in rooms, only in lobby -BEDBUGS (I shall explain more below) So we only stayed a couple nights but after the first night I noticed some red bumps on my legs. I passed it off as mosquito bites from being on the beach or out at night (although this is unusual for me since I don't usually get bites). After the second night I had a total of 12 bites on my legs. None of the other people in my family (who slept in other beds/rooms) had these bites nor did they have mosquito bites. After doing some research I determined that they were indeed bed bug bites. This wasn't surprising to me considering that our initial impression of the sheets was questionable (very scratchy and felt dirty/sandy) even on our first night. Overall, the bed bugs brought the whole experience down a lot and I'm glad we left early. If you come here maybe avoid booking the econo suit or just check your sheets!! read more

Worst experience ever due to their own "restaurant." Absolutely no customer service skills, training children to do the job while on duty, "espresso" is pre-packaged pods, and if you try to get a refund for disgusting service, it becomes a national security matter where everyone and their mother shows up to discuss and deny. The hotel is just a short walk to a beautiful beach, and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Customer service was excellent! Check in was quick an easy. I wouldn't consider it a "resort". It's on par with an "average" Hilton hotel. Our room was clean; but we could hear our neighbor snoring - it's not really quiet. Breakfast was 100% carbs: cereal, bread, bagels, and muffins. We appreciated the mini fridge in room but I really didn't like only having coffee available (in the lobby) from 0730 - 1030. Even a single serve coffee pot in the lobby, if not in every room, would be nice. I paid $16 at K-Mart for a small coffee pot to have in my room. I was very surprised that there were so many additional charges (from an "actual" breakfast in the morning, to bottled water, to the pool table and the bicycles. read more

When my family and I first arrived to El Combate Beach Resort, the appearance was none other than a Hispanic Motel. There were only two floors, and no elevators (leaving only the first-floor rooms accommodating wheel-chaired guests...there was a ramp to the lobby, however). The lobby was small, and the gift shop was even smaller -- wasn't even a gift shop because there was not even an abundance of souvenirs for sale. The receptionists were also the hosts and waiters/waitresses... would you trust a 3-in-1 shampoo/conditioner/body wash? Despite assuming many roles in the hotel, the staff were always pleasant and very approachable. Additionally, the hotel was very clean. One piece of advise that I would give to improve this hotel would be to incorporate a shuttle-bus system, as there are not many restaurants, shops, or landmarks within walking distance. The only walking-distance feature of this hotel is the beach... and the water was cloudy, but that's none of my business. But I saw a really cute crab, and the bar on the beach sold pretty cheap alcoholic drinks ($7 for a piña colada/mojito). There was no entertainment, period. However, the silence was a nice change of pace... plus the wifi didn't work, so you really had to meditate. Also, there's no room service, so you best stock up at the local Walgreen's 20 mins away for any snacks or drinks (there is a fridge in every room and microwaves as well in some of them). Finally, the AC system there is a beast. You WILL freeze if you aren't careful... and plus you shouldn't keep it running anyway. This was a solid hotel overall. Would I return? No. Would I recommend? ... and ruin my rep?? No. Is the hotel prepared for serious weather? Yes (2 back-up generators) Overall experience? Fine. read more

I was a bit disappointed with the hotel, definitely in comparison to American hotels. We paid over 350 dollars for 2 nights for dual queen room. Be forewarned (because they won't warn you when you reserve) that if you'd like to avoid the weekend crowds and stay on Monday and Tuesday there are NO restaurants open in the area and the hotel "restaurant" only offers breakfast in the morning and after that pizza. All day. In one on the best locations for seafood on the island the hotel offers pizza. I didn't travel 3 1/2 hours to eat pizza. I mean had they told us when we reserved we would have come prepared. It's pretty rare that I complain about ANYTHING, but having a background in hospitality not having food options and not communicating it is pretty inexcusable. Don't think I'll be back. read more

This did not start off well....but has been remarkably redeemed. The internet booking system is misleading as they charge for kids but not until you process the final booking, which I couldn't do online. They hit me for and extra 40 per night for a 9 year old and would not budge in discussion. While their pricing and bookings system stinks the hotel is clean, organized and had everything we needed for a good time. What is truly worthy of.mention is their staff! Friendly, efficient, proactive and would fit in at the Vanderbilt or Condado Hilton. This isnt a luxury hotel but it is clean, beds comfortable, quiet, great AC, serve a nice continental breakfast for free and offer full breakfast service, a gift shop, and cocktail hour. There is a nice pool, outdoor lounge areas with dominos and pool table. They have easy access.to the reserve and the beach, rent kayaks, paddleboards and umbrellas and chairs. We were driving all around the island and only budgeted one night in Cabo Rojo. We booked this hotel without any great expectations, and at first it didn't look like much when we arrived. Although the rooms weren't anything special, they were clean. The location was great, though. You can easily walk to two large restaurants/bars right down the street. There is a short path behind the hotel that goes straight to a small but lovely (and uncrowded) beach. The hotel is also a 20 minute drive to the Los Morillos Lighthouse, which might have been our favorite attraction for the entire trip. The area is a cliff on the Southwestern tip of the island and is absolutely stunning during sunset. Overall, what we anticipated as a down day in our trip around the island turned out to be a highlight. read more

Avoid this place at all cost. We got here and we needed two rooms. We went to check in and they said we reserved four rooms. There is a strict no cancellation policy and we got stuck with four rooms. The staff was rude and offered no solutions like using the room at a later date. We have been here a couple times but we will never be back. Rooms are ok free breakfast was poorly stocked. Do yourself a favor stay elsewhere. read more
