Great prices (they beat most stores and farmers market prices) and their fruit and veggies are fresh and tasty. I've met Delilah each time I've gone; she's very sweet and knowledgeable. You can bring your pups if you want, but they must be on a leash and kept to the front gravel area by the parking lot. You can pick your own fruit (very cute date idea) or if you're local, you can do weekly fruit/veggies pick ups. Honestly the BEST flower field I've been to in San Diego. The fact that you can actually walk through the field and pick the flowers is amazing. A lot of other flower fields you can only look but not touch or go in the flower field, here you can immerse yourself! They also have strawberry picking and lavender picking during the season I went. So many fun activities for date night, family outing, or friend hangout. Plenty of parking - cost 5$ which is super reasonable, usually san diego parking overcharges. I have friends who work in the flower industry and they shared this spot is superrrrr affordable for fresh flowers! Not to mention it is a super fun photo op spot. This farm looks small from afar but it's well spread out. I love that you can pick flowers, strawberries and blueberries all in one day. They also sell honey and other flowers. Be sure to check out the retail section at the farm stand where you pay your admission fees before you explore. Be sure to dress accordingly because the entire farm is on dirt. There are portable potties available next to the animals and u-pick. Parking: Free parking unless it's an event. When you turn in, skip the first entrance on your left (it says exit only). Drive up past the fence and u-turn into the same lot. There are a few Handicap spaces between the blue cones. Admission: Walk up to the farm stand to the person with the cash register. Ranunculus season is coming to an end so it was free to enter but cost if you want to cut flowers. Strawberry season is in. They are so red, ripped, easy to get to but sadly sour at the moment. $10 for small bucket, $15 for large, those without buckets are $5 entry fee. Blueberries are starting to be in season. They have 4 types that started blooming since January and throughout the year. U-pick is only on Fridays from 2-5pm because of the limited quantity. They are grown in pots. $6 entry for each person and you get a small container. Path: Ranunculus are at the very far end. To get to the strawberry fields, you follow the red fence walk way over the hill. It's about 5 minutes. There's a person there to greet you and hand you a bag after. Across from the strawberry field is the watermelon field. That's not available for u-pick. Next to that is the blueberry area. Activities: -Certified Farmers Market on Fridays 2-6pm. You can come to pick blueberries and hang out after wards. -A shaded area with chairs and tables to hang out. -Animals and giant empty spare tires for kids to hang out. -Check their socials often as there are events throughout. read more

Came to check out the farm stand on Saturday afternoon and had a wonderful experience! The parking was free this day- not sure if they charge on other days. There was a makers market on as well cute little stands set up easy to access. They also had cats for adoption from the desertcatopia- they were so sweet, I do wish I could take all homeless animals home all the time. The highlights of this day were the tractor ride! It was a larger tractor and a pretty long ride around the farm which was so fun to see! They also had a honey mixing station where you could infuse diff types of honey (avocado, ect) with fun mix in's! I chose red pepper flakes and cinnamon! They have a bounce house and slide which was the favorite for my 2 year old- there is a timer on those and they charge per 15 mins I believe. There's yummy food and drink for charge also around the property as well as pick your own during the season, we picked flowers! There's portable toilets onsite as well as some animals to look at. My first time here was summer and October of last year with the grandchildren. We recently came here again to do some strawberry picking. But in between those visits I've made stops for some fresh produce and flowers. The gals that tend to the stand are friendly and helpful. At times you will find some interesting produce. There is packaged nuts and candy available for purchase. I found out they have homemade ice cream I hope to try on the next visit. Don't miss them on Instagram and Facebook. You will find out the current happening's. They have tractor rides on the weekend, something I need to checkout with the grandkiddos. They have summer events too which hasn't worked out for me to attend. But they have a covered area with seating . This is a graveled parking area and the fields are in full working force, at least on Thursday. Expect it to be dusty, so anyone with health issues should take care. Be sure to check them out. We picked up both on our visit and they were lovely. However, maybe unicorns do exist. I had the wonderful opportunity to experience a " unicorn encounter" at the Mellano Farm Stand flower fields. Most of us have seen a rainbow, although they can be fleeting. However, a close up unicorn encounter is magical. It is as real as a child or your inner child can imagine it. SOMEWHERE UNDER THE RAINBOW When I was a kid, my favorite animal in the entire world was all of them. I Shih Tzu not. From alligators to zebras, I was completely fascinated. But there was one animal that was never mentioned in school, the unicorn! Why wasn't the unicorn included in any of our classes? Why did mom insist that unicorns were just make-believe? Why, whenever I asked zookeepers which way to the unicorns, they just gave me a large dose of resting cranky face? I borrowed a book from the library, now known as 3D Wikipedia. Apparently, unicorns were discovered in Ancient Greece. I learned a lot, but it didn't help me find a real one. I was beginning to think unicorns really didn't exist... and I closed my eyes and fell asleep. "Psst... you up?" It's just that when word got out-- we were stalked and chased by humans... especially Paparazzi... all for a stupid 'photographic impression'. The u-pick strawberries makes for a fun weekend activity! They had a Mother's Day deal which also made this super affordable! The fields are a decent size and there were plenty of delicious strawberries to go around. It wasn't too hard to find enough to more than fill our bucket. All 11 of us in the group enjoyed our visit here thoroughly and plan on returning with other friends and family. We had to make a quick change of plans after we reviewed another popular local Strawberry picking location and heard they weren't having the greatest or friendliest service. I researched around, noticed many U-picks require advanced reservations and it was impossible to find anything with a slot for 11 people. I called this place and got quick answers and was told we could just walk in! $10 for entrance fee with a bucket included, you could upgrade to a larger bucket for $15. They have an adorable veggie stand, some fresh but limited flowers for sale, many succulents and plants and honey from their farm! If they ever closed and left North River road, I'd be majorly sad. This farm stand in Oceanside does not have an excess of fruits and vegetables, but they do have some you'll not get as fresh or local in the supermarket. I visited today and they had 3 types of watermelon, Three! The flowers are either CA grown or from their own fields (no columbian cheap labor Roses here). They have small potted herbs and plants. Snacks, local canned, bouquets. Staff is always kind and sincere. In season, they'll have - pumpkin patch you can wander and select your own Pumpkin and halloween activities for a fee, U pick fruits, U cut Zinnias and more. Its clean, its family oriented. Cute farm stand with great potential but has a lot of flaws! 1. They have a few farm animals but you can't feed them, pet them, or get close to them. There's literally a double fence and you get to see them from about 5ft away, not sure what the point of having them is, they don't actually use those chickens for eggs, nor do they use the goats for milk, so why are they there? if you have kids that like to pet/feed farm animals Bates Nut Farm is a much better choice. 2. Strawberry fields were nice but for $10 you get what seems like a large cup that can hold at most about 7-8 strawberries. Especially if you pick the big ones its more like 5 strawberries. Do you know how many pounds of strawberries I can get at the local grocery store for $10? I mean I'd love to be able to support small local farmers but I'd also love to not be getting ripped off. 3. The produce is super overpriced. For example, they sell a dozen eggs for $5, that may have been a good find during the egg shortage but as of now you can get a dozen Organic-free range eggs (like the Vital Farms brand), from Vons, Ralph's or Walmart for $4.50 to $5.16, and non-organic ones are around $2 or $3. Again, I would be fine paying these prices if their produce was organically grown but it's not and if it is there's definitely no singage or mention of it anywhere. And most of the time everything looks withered and not fresh. read more

Oh man. Super disappointed. Drove down from murrieta to take the kids for the strawberry picking and festival. I bought 30 dollars in buckets and I should have known while picking but got them home and soaked them. There were lots and lots of fruit fly worms at the bottom of the bowl. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and put them in a bag in the fridge and when I just opened them the next day there were worms crawling out of so many of the strawberries. I'm so grossed out I dont know if I or the kids will be able to eat strawberries again any time soon. Super bummed. read more

We took a family trip here all the way from Pasadena to pick strawberries. The strawberries look huge and juicy, but unfortunately they are somewhat insipid and have not so great flavor. As you bite the fruit it feels "watery" and somewhat "unnatural" or "fake". I'm a little sad and it was pretty expensive to go do this kind of stuff. They should at least tell us ahead that the fruit might not be so sweet or they should lower the price. Personally I was disappointed. read more

Juiciest Valencias, all juice, no waste. Bought a potted tomato that is gorgeous and full of fruit for $15, and LOVE the pot! Can't wait to go back. Their potted succulents are very gift-worthy. The sunflowers are beautiful but this advertisement should be taken down considering everything was cancelled. My family and I drove about 40 mins to come here under the impression there was a festival, however there was no live music, no games, barely any food, you can't see the farm animals, no bouncy house/slides. We were hoping to go on the tractor for the strawberries but we were told we couldn't because we had our two small dogs. The offer was to tie our dogs up on a pole while we went on the ride. No thanks! It's unfortunate that vendors (music and bouncy house) cancelled on them, but they should have informed customers before hand and/or taken down the ad. read more
