This is my go-to music store in the central PA area. I teach voice lessons (and the occasional…read morepiano lesson). I just wish they had a larger space so that they could stock and display a much larger selection of music. I'm used to big city music stores that have tons of music. In comparison, Wray's has only pounds. They have a decent selection of pianos, although the lines they rep are rather limited. I really like their used piano selection (which of course changes frequently) because they are priced fairly for the quality of the instrument you are purchasing. Johnathan Shuey, is your go-to man for anything you need to know about pianos, equipment, and accessories. He's a true musician, not just a sales guy. He knows his stuff and is always spot on with his input. I have had several students walk away very happy with their experience. Parking is closest on the street, but they have a private lot up the street (that's a huge pain to get in and out of when it's busy). Although they have a limited music selection, they do have a pretty standard collection of piano lesson books as well as a mix and match selection of other items. The good thing is that if you want something they can usually get it for you pretty quickly. They even offer print on demand capabilities for many things available on sheet music. Overall, I give it two thumbs up. I still have to travel to big cities to buy things like opera scores and more obscure items.

I was in the neighborhood and decided to check out Wray's for any sheet music I might want. On the…read morestorefront in big letters: UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT. I tried to enter the piano side, but they now have that entrance blocked off and you must enter from the guitar side, which looked fully stocked. Walking into the piano side, however, was a huge disappointment. Gone were the scads of pianos I was used to seeing, the entire electronic keyboard department was gone and the floor space was just beefed up by placing the racks of sheet music further apart. As for the pianos that remained on the floor, I only saw a few new instruments, all some brand I've never heard of, all ridiculously overpriced, but the ones I tried played well. All the used instruments took a $300 jump in price, although there was a very nice Schafer & Sons upright that I would love to have. Service was non-existent, not that I needed any, but it would have been nice to see my buddy, Jonathan, the keyboard guru. I was left to play anything I wanted on any instrument I wanted, but you'd expect someone to ask if they could help me find anything at some point, I was in there for a half-hour or so! Crappy new instruments, overpriced used instruments, sh***y selection of printed music, no electronic instruments, and worst of all, no Jonathan! I'm afraid I'm going to have to endorse Menchey's :-(
