A short while ago I had the privilege of reviewing its first location, in Downtown Roanoke, the largest establishment in Crafteria: Handmade Food and Goods, almost in the corner of S Jefferson Street and Church Avenue. Today I decided to visit the Little Green Hive in Grandin Village, located on Grandin Road in the heart of Grandin Village, right next to the 7-11 there. It shares the same entrance to the building where Rockfish Food and Wine Restaurant is located. After you enter a small foyer, the door on the right takes you to this Historic Grandin Village Coffee Shop, that serves Coffee, Smoothies, Smoothie Bowls, Fresh Juices, Breakfast Burritos & Bagels, and fresh pastries such as Fresh-baked Scones, Muffins, Cinnamon Rolls, and Large Chocolate Chip Cookies. When I entered through the white french door that led to this Coffee Shop located in a small yet very cozy space of a Victorian building with beautiful original hardwood floors and a lovely wide window with a long counter table and high chairs facing out the window looking out towards the sidewalk, I was simply amazed at how well by using different color paints for the walls, a white furniture counter, blackboards with color chalk menus, and contemporary yet comfortable furniture, they have created a cozy and inviting space, very appropriate to contribute to the dining experience itself. At the ordering counter, a gentleman employee warmly greeted and welcomed me with a smile. Then he took my breakfast order. I ordered a Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a plain Bagel Sandwich, a large Caffè Mocha, and one of their famous Cinnamon Roll, which by the way I had seen how they make them from scratch when I visited their Downtown Roanoke store. Another of their employee, a young lady, was the one who prepared the items ordered and the would place them on the pick-up table when ready and call the name of the items to be picked up and taken by the customer to their table. As I sat down waiting for my food to be ready. I noticed the positive chemistry emanating from the other customers there. A few young ladies who looked like friends were having breakfast and chatting at the window counter. An midage gentleman was seated in one of the relaxed and comfortable, leather chairs up front and listening to his music while he enjoyed his coffee. An older wise gentleman was serving as a mentor to a younger what looked like college student. And a group of four older but graceful and energetic ladies just arrived and were seated down at a table getting ready to have a pleasant breakfast meeting, while enjoying their coffee and breakfast treats. This restaurant was serving the community well. I could feel it in the air. While on its walls, there were artworks from a local artist hanging with a name and price tag and information on the artist with a QR code to the Artist's website and instructions on how to buy these and other of her works of art. While all this was happening I had already picked up my breakfast and was enjoying it at my table. Needless to say that everything tasted delicious. From my Mocha Coffee that had just the right flavor, to the Bagel Breakfast Sandwich which was fresh and soft with fresh ingredients, to the Cinnamon that was so sweet. I invite the readers of this review to also look at my photographs and video-clip accompanying the review to better appreciate this place and its food. And I highly recommend that you stop by and try it. For I can assure you that when you do, you are up for a one of a kind Coffee Shop dining experience.

The cafe is a decent size, wide and open. There are tables on one side of the cafe and sofa seating on another side. We sat at a big elevated table with bar chairs that looked out of the cafe. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I was also awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And the Covenant Coffee Company coffee truck in, Southwest Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. This locally-owned coffee truck, lauched a couple of weeks ago by Jeff and Meredith Baxter, will be permanently parked on 1917 Franklin Road close to "George's Flowers" and near Greenway Park. The business originated from the owners' 12-year dream, aiming to serve high-quality coffee while supporting the local community and small business ecosystem in Southwest Virginia. Baxter will source his coffee from roaster Philip Hatter at Gladheart Wine & Brews, and will have housemade syrups that can be added to the coffee to create masterpieces of quality coffees at significantly lower prices than Starbucks. Although they expect that most customers will be for to-go orders, they have picnic tables set-up adjacent to the trailer, for customers who wish to enjoy their coffee on the spot. This morning as soon as I found out about this coffee truck and provided the information about it to Yelp, I headed in my pearl white Lexus to go try it out. When I arrived I parked my Lexus in an open space near the coffee truck and walked over to the trailer where I was immediately greeted by the owner Jeff, who was very friendly and welcoming. He showed me the coffee and tea menus, and also told me that for now they are also carrying Croissants from Bread Craft Bakery, and depending on the customers' demand for other eating products, other items will be introduced in the near future. I ordered a medium Iced Mocha Coffee with a Chocolate Croissant. The coffee tasted amazing as well as the Chocolate Croissant. At that time of the day the sun was somewhat bothering but hopefully he will have sun umbrellas with the picnic tables or something else to provide shades to the customers to be able to better enjoy their coffee there. While I was there, many other customers stopped by to purchase coffees and take them with them. The establishment also had stickers, t-shirts, and caps with the name of the place for sale. With its close proximity to the hospital, hotel, sports ground, and flow of traffic, I anticipate that they will be a total success. And 7 Stars Lounge in West Downtown Roanoke, Virginia, is the perfect example. 7 Stars Lounge is a very unique business indeed. It's a combination of a Cigar Lounge, Bar, and Cafe. After retiring, Larry the co-owner with his wife Mini decided to open a business that embodied the things that they enjoy most in life. The husband enjoys smoking a good cigar, relaxing in a leather recliner, while watching a large screen TV or talking with friends. So originated the concept of a Cigar Lounge. In their business, this lounge is located in a separate adjacent room with leather recliners, side tables, large screen TVs, and two pool tables. Just outside of this room is a humidifier room where they have a great variety of quality cigars for sale. While other Cigar Lounges make you pay for a membership in order to enjoy the place. Here, as long as you purchase any item from the Cigar store, Bar, or Cafe. You have the right to enjoy the Cigar Lounge for free. The wife's, who is a Chinese native, and co-owner of the business, favorite food is the Chicago Hot Dog. So they decided that the Cafe specialty would center around the genuine Chicago-style Hot Dog, with autentic Vienna Beef Hot Dogs. This hot dog is inserted into a soft poppyseed bun and topped with mustard, Chicago-style relish, chopped onions, half-sliced tomatoes, a pickle spear, and a sport pepper, to give it that extra crunch and flavor. Besides this, they also have other Hot Dogs like the Chili Hot Dog, the Kraut Hot Dog, and the Original Hot Dog. As for me I like a good hot dog, so I welcome this new addition to the culinary lineup in the Star City. The menu also includes some Sandwiches, Breakfast Sandwiches, Bakery items, Salads, and authentic Fried Rice cooked by the wife. She is also planning on cooking freshly made donuts from scratch. The Bar they plan to have will only have beers (draft brews like Stella Artois and Heineken plus bottles and cans) and a selection of wines. The restaurant's space itself is a nice size and furnished with quality wood tables and chairs. They already plan to hold a group party their which will consume a selection of items from their menu. Today, I ordered two Chicago style Hot Dogs and a can of Dr Pepper to drink. And they tasted amazingly delicious. Specially the quality of the Vienna Beef franks, which is known for their signature snap, that you don't find in many other hot dog places. And the fresh and soft poppyseed buns that topped off the favor and texture of the dogs, not including the other wonderful ingredients. I'm not a smoker so one of my concerns going to eat there was if the smoke of the Cigar Lounge would reach the Cafe, and I can assure you it didn't. The door that devides the two is very tight. My other concern was the parking situation. But in front of the business they have several parking spaces for the exclusive use of their customers. I highly recommend this place for those who enjoy the different items I've written about in this review. The owners are so friendly and nice that we should give them our support. I'm looking forward to returning one morning to have breakfast there, and to trying out their homemade donuts and fried rice.

The place was very clean and organized. The ambiance felt refreshing and relaxing, very much like their products themselves. I was greeted with a warm welcome by two very friendly ladies who were wonderful introducing and explaining the menu to me. I first ordered the Golden Glow Smoothie, which contained my favorite fruit, Mango, among other things. It was served in a glass Mug and tasted very nourishing and refreshing. I sat at a table near one of the windows. And I enjoyed drinking the smoothie while looking outside through the window. Some other customers came in and ordered different Wellness Bowls. As I was about to leave, I noticed their Wellness Bowls and was attracted to how appetizing they looked. So I asked one of the servers to explain the different ones they had. Since I was still hungry, I then ordered a Chocolate Peanut Butter Wellness Bowl, and enjoyed it all the way. It was so refreshing and nourishing. I'm glad I stopped by this Juice Bar, highly recommend it to all of you reading my review, and plan to return in the near future, especially during the hot days of the summer, or when I feel like having a refreshing boost to brighten up my day.
