Save the day!! We had a violin string break the day before our daughter was going back to school. They had both Dominant student and the higher quality strings for the more experienced musician. They also have a dozen studios for private lessons in voice, guitar, brass, and strings. They sell and rent instruments from grand pianos to kazoos. Melody Mart is amazing! They offer everything from individual and group music lessons, sales and repairs, community events, and tons of music knowledge. My daughter takes private violin lessons with Al Joseph, and he's a fantastic instructor. She's also had the opportunity to be part of several group ensembles like Junior Jam Band, Treble Makers, and String Ensemble. I cannot say enough great things about all the staff and instructors. The small group instructors we've worked with (Alissa, Esperanza, Jordan, Davis, DK, and Anakyewaa) go above and beyond to inspire and encourage every musician to learn and grow. The service was poor. I sent my bass in for simple tune ups, I was quoted a couple days and told they had the ability to accomplish all my requests. Cut to a week later, the bass comes back and they did nothing and tried to charge me 60$. Then when I called them out politely, the OWNER started cussing and yelling at me. I did not pay them for nothing. And I'll never go back. They lied and tried to take advantage of me because he thought I didn't know better. Be aware, there are thousands of places way better. All their gear they sell is cheap quality and unreasonably marked up for a rich, ignorant neighborhood.. The owner had a horrible attitude and his ego was beyond disgusting. read more

I consider myself a local business connoisseur, and a "rock" music enthusiast as well so I couldn't pass this place up after a recommendation from a friend. He had asked his bass teacher if he had ever considered playing electric guitar, to which he replied he had tried once but it was weird. Just hearing that, I admire his dedication to the bass, rock on!!1 I just wish that when I broke a string on my electric guitar that the employees wouldn't keep having me buy a single string at the cost of a full pack.. :( that's not nice. oh well, I gotta go! read more

Signed my daughter up for violin lessons in March. Our 1st lesson happening on March 30th..... Fast forward to April 20th we find out that her instructor (Ruthanne) would be moving to Texas. This began to bother me because the weekend before (April 13th) I mentioned to her instructor Ruthanne that I would have to cancel a weekend or 2 in May and wanted to know the protocol for such things. (So why not say something then? No one randomly moves to "Texas" -__-) I felt that this was so unprofessional ESPECIALLY when it comes to working with kids, and as a parent I feel that it's not conducive to children learning. Not to mention the only other available violin instructor is male (I was told I could sit in on the lesson) however this still bothered me since I try not to sit in on lessons due to being a distraction to my daughter. So this really put us in a tight spot seeing as how we just started warming up to coming in and getting to know everyone. read more

The owner was extremely interested in who I am as a musician and the young lady at the counter Erin was very helpful. I came in to buy sheet music after years of being away from the area, and they treated me like a lifelong customer.
