housemade cone with french toast and pistachio scoops
    Leeza N.

This place is soooo underrated!! Dare I say, their house made cone is even better than Rain or Shine LOL. Thick buttery waffle cone, just too good. Got the one scoop/two flavours option and they give you alot, it's great. I tried the french toast flavour which tasted more like cinnamon toast crunch, heavy on cinnamon and had little bread bites and I tried the pistachio which was rich, nutty and amazing. My MIL got the matcha black sesame flavour which was so good as well. Definitely will be returning to try more flavours.

Visited Melt confectionary to try hot chocolate festival limited item. Jasmin Blossom - Inspired by Dominique Ansel. White chocolate infused with Jasmin tea to create a blossoming marshmallow flower that blooms in hot chocolate. Served with chocolate flowerpot. Hot chocolate itself had a strong jasmin tea flavor, I really loved it. Very delicious hot chocolate! And highlight was blooming marshmallow flower. I found this item in instagram and looked very beautiful. Very creative and unique item and taste was also great. One of the best item in 2026!

A fab addition to the neighborhood, we go to Melt often! Even in the winter time we're in melt. Their ice cream flavours are so creamy and yummy and we have tried many of them! My favourites are the pistachio and the Biscoff cookie flavours. My husband loves the malted salted cookie dough one. You really can't go wrong! They also have great ice cream bars too and chocolate bars to take home or as gifts. So much variety in flavour to choose from too! They also do chocolate covered honeycomb which I die for! The staff is also really lovely and always lets you try flavours. Hot tip too I love that as an adult I can order a kids sized cone! Their waffle cones are so delicious and fresh! And a perfect compliment for the ice cream. Melt is a staple spot for us in our neighborhood and we love it!!

You can get chocolates, ice cream and hot chocolate at this place. My daughter and I came during the annual Hot Chocolate Festival so that we could try the Teller of Fortunes hot chocolate which we'd seen on Instagram. I managed to skip the Hot Chocolate Festival last year, but we both got suckered into it this year when we saw the cool looking "crystal ball" on Instagram. If you're reading this while the Hot Chocolate Festival is still on and thinking of getting the same drink for yourself, be forewarned...any pics and videos you wanna take better be taken fast. Our "crystal ball" popped before I could get any video clips of it! Thankfully I ate least managed to snap a photo before it popped. It's a time sensitive beverage though! It was a yummy drink, but nothing out of this world. I expected that already though. I knew from the beginning that I was paying for the "wow" factor and not the amount of liquid in the cup, or the quality of the beverage either. I do think our hot chocolate could have also been hotter. It was pretty much lukewarm when we started drinking it, and we didn't wait around long as it didn't take long for the "crystal ball" to pop. It was a really cool effect as there was a misty trail of smoke in the air when it popped. Soooo wish I could have caught it on video! In addition to our hot chocholate we ordered a scoop of Milk Chocolate and Passionfruit ice cream. Yummy. I think I like their ice cream better than their hot chocolate. The chocolates look absolutely gorgeous! Would have loved to have bought some of their chocolates but I'd spent enough already on our hot chocolate and ice cream.

Super friendly staff here and highly recommend checking this cute place out! Smooth & creamy ice cream with interesting flavours - I tried their Raspberry Earl Grey & French Toast flavours in their "nacho" and they were delicious!

Campfire. Hot chocolate festival. Jan 2024

I came here to try the hot chocolate during the festival. I had the campfire and it was a pretty cool fun interactive experience. Put the chocolate coated marshmallow into the drink and you can hear it start to pop and sizzle like a crackling burning log. Description from website: #116 - CAMPFIRE* Available January 13 - February 14, 2024 A 65% Dark hot chocolate accompanied by a toasted marshmallow cup that, once placed on top of the hot chocolate, melts, crackles and pops with Pop Rocks! This interactive drink is served with graham cookie logs for the crackling fire. *Drink is gluten-free, side contains gluten. The drink itself was ok, not as chocolatey as I would like. I didn't like the texture of the Graham cookie logs. A bit too mushy for me. I tried the malt ball and it was ok. This place specializes in chocolate and also sells ice cream. I'll have to come back and try the chocolate truffles and chocolate bars. They make great gifts for people who are vegan and/or gluten free.

I ordered the regular 70% hot chocolate with cow's milk and a bit of whip cream. Maybe i should have gone for the drinking chocolate but my drink simply was not nearly chocolates enough. I had such high hopes when i walked in since the place has a wonderful chocolate aroma but my drink was very average. I would put it on par with the hot cocoa at Starbucks. It's right beside the Performance Works building. I don't know how long this shop has been here, but in all my life I've never noticed this place until now. I happened to have just come out of an afternoon show at Performance Works and as I was walking away from the Performance Works building, I happened to turn my head and see this shop, so decided to check it out. They're a small shop/ workshop that does tours which teach how chocolate is made. When you walk in, you can smell chocolate in the air. The lady in the shop offered some samples of their chocolate. I tried their Tanduay Rum chocolate and their Earl Grey Tea chocolate. According to their website their chocolate is award winning. To be honest though, I wasn't blown away by what I tasted. It wasn't bad but it also didn't taste to me like it was award winning chocolate. I noticed a sign though that said they had a drink which was part of the Koolfest. This is a new festival that started this year and is a celebration of cold drink creations from vendors of the annual Hot Chocolate Festival. Kasama's creation was a Filipino Cacao Husk & Kape Cold Brew with Vanilla Cinnamon Syrup and Ube Cold Foam. I hadn't had any Koolfest drinks yet, this one sounded appealing and to be honest...I'm the kind of person who tends to feel guilty about taking free samples and then not buying anything! So...having sampled the Tanduay Rum and Early Grey Tea chocolates, I decided to buy a Koolfest drink. Not much of a coffee person usually. This might be only the second time I've ever ordered a cold brew drink. I very much enjoyed this drink! For me to enjoy a coffee beverage, it has to be sweet and this one was sweet...but not excessively sweet. I loved the Vanilla Cinnamon flavor in it. It really hit the spot.

I'm thoroughly impressed by Mr. Haas' background in the chocolatier profession, and it truly shows in his creations. I'm already looking forward to visiting again when I return to Vancouver. This was one of my favorite experiences while visiting this lovely city. Even more amazing, if you're on a ketogenic lifestyle like me, their sugar-free chocolates are some of the best you'll ever have. No yucky aspartame. They taste amazing.

Space/location The space is on the smaller side, so it's not ideal for large groups, but it's cozy and inviting, with a few counter seats inside and some patio seating outside. Food and Drinks: The food and service are consistently good, and compared to many other cafés and patisseries, it offers excellent value for money. The hot chocolate and coffee are standout. The lady behind the machine clearly knows what they're doing, because every cup is spot on. The sandwiches can be a bit hit or miss, but our recent visits have been great. The smoked salmon croissant is served cold (they always check if that's okay), and even so, it's one of my favorites. The portobello sandwich, served warm, is also rich and full of flavor. And the cakes and pastries? Dangerous in the best way possible. The kind that keeps you coming back to North Van "just one more time." :)
