During my trip, I walked past this spot a few times and after temptation won, I finally decided to stop in. Immediately inside is a large selection of various chocolate confections, including a case of upscale chocolates and truffles. The main draw, however, are the dipped soft serve ice cream cones. I will admit the selection is pretty overwhelming, however the lady that helped me was very friendly and walked me through my options. She allowed me to sample a handful of the chocolate dips so that I could select the one I liked best. From there, she explained they could essentially make any of the kooky concoctions with the dip I selected. I thankfully read a few reviews on here first that recommended ordering a mini (thank you!), so I ordered a mini salted caramel dark chocolate dipped cone with brownie pieces. You are able to watch as they hand make every cone to order. After receiving my cone, I settled into their outdoor seating along Water Street (they do have indoor seating too) and contemplated how best to attack this masterpiece. Be prepared as there is no graceful way to eat this treat, I went through 3 napkins as I was wiping my mouth after every bite to avoid having chocolate on my face lol. The first bite was the best combination of silky smooth vanilla soft served and the slight salty, sweet, bitterness of the dip. The brownies were fudgy and almost had more of a truffle consistency. It is definitely a sugar rush, but it was worth the indulgence. Again, unless you have a huge sweet tooth and appetite, I agree with a mini size being perfect. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I tried this place in a Victoria a few years ago so when I found out they were coming to Vancouver, I was super excited! This is a very cute and small location in gastown. Lots of staff working and the service is wonderful. I learned that they have some vegan options which is wonderful because I'm dairy free so I didn't have to miss out. Omg it was so good! I'm not usually a raspberry person but the one I ate had a raspberry sauce on it which actually really worked well. I was surprised at how good and delicious it was. The location itself is beautifully decorated. There is a few spots to sit inside or outside and they have a few chocolate options if you just wanted to purchase that (not just ice cream) read more

I wanted to get something to take home for gifts and there were these wonderful bags of mini individually wrapped chocolates. I got the larger size of 30 chocolates in different flavors. I ended up giving each friend 5-6 chocolates with some small gifts and of course tried one myself. Definitely quality chocolates and was only $20.57 out the door. read more

Nice new expensive and deadly ice cream shop in Gastown. This place is obviously catered towards tourists and the Instagram crowd. The chain is originally from Quebec (originally Lauzon, now Quebec City). Parking here is horrendous. Can't help much here. Come after 2200 when street parking becomes free. The place is nice and bright and pretty packed. Besides ice cream, they also sell piles of chocolate goodies (lollipops, chocolate bars etc). as well as other confectionaries. Staff tried to be helpful, but honestly the menu is pretty confusing.They have a dipped ice cream cone menu, but there are 5(!) sizes. Then there are a pile of other options (extra charge) such as waffle cones, additional chocolate syrup insdie the cone, and "kooky" cones (which I assume are all the deluxe flavour ones). Took me a while to figure out what was what. Honestly they need to streamline this part, as I imagine everyone gets confused at least the 1st time. I ended up settling for a hazelnut cone with brownie bites. I think the brownie bites were actually a substitute for some other topping they ran out of, but oh well. By the end I didn't realy know what I ordered. As mentioned before, this has to be the most expensive cone in the city. With that said, the ice cream (choice of vanilla or raspberry) is pretty solid, and they do not skimp out on the chocolate dip. This has to also be the thickest layer of dipped chocolate I have seen on a cone in years. It was almost as thick as eating a chocolate bar. I thought I was going to chip a tooth. Special mention. Definitely a good place for satisfying one's sweet tooth if one doesn't mind the premium pricing. Honestly I was on chocolate overload for the next few days. I came across the place on social media by a feed from Dished Vancouver so I thought I would give it a try today. It would be a great stopping point after my morning errands on a sunny day, Despite a sunny Sunday morning with 3 cruise ships at dock, it wasn't too busy when I got int the door at about 1100. After a quick read of the menu, I opted for a medium dolce de leche in a classic cone. It is a fun and novelty place for children. So why am I giving it 2 stars? - My dolce de leche does not look like what it was depicted on the menu as per the photo of mine and the photo depicted in the menu. Mine lacks the crunchy bites in the coating. - The coating was thick, rich and very sweet as expected of dolce de leche. However, the soft serve inside, unfortunately, paled very much in comparison. It was not rich (it felt very light and watery) and did not have any flavour at all. I could not tell what it was supposed to be. I thought perhaps the sweetness of the dolce de leche coating was so strong that it overpowered the flavour of the soft serve. It wasn't. My few last bites of the soft serve itself had no flavour at all. read more

I'm not too familiar with the Gastown neighborhood but it seems to be a bit secluded from the rest of the area. I would be careful about where you park nearby but it does seem like there is decent street parking a couple of blocks away. It's nice walking around the neighborhood and Chocolats Favoris sits right in the heart of Gastown. The inside of the shop is small so beware of the cramped line. For the amount of ice cream you get, the prices are great and I appreciate that there's tiny/baby sizes too for kids or if you just want a snack size! We only got the ice cream but would love to come back to try their other offerings. The regular chocolate-dipped option is quite chocolate heavy so I'd recommend the thin option if you want more balanced flavors. I love chocolate so though this place gets a thumbs up from me. read more

I didn't realize on weekends Water St is so festive! I like that there's lots of people but not too crowded. A gorgeous day, sunny, but I learned to always bring a light jacket or sweater anywhere you go to in Vancouver. It's a good day for ice cream. Line was not that long. I wen't to the cash register first, choose what size I liked from the pictures. They are bigger than normal so I chose small. It was more than enough. Then you can choose your toppings and cone. The base ice cream is not vanilla, although its white. Then they dip it in chocolate and sprinkle it with toppings depending on the flavour you picked. I chose Smores. Plenty of peanuts and marshmallows with one big one on top. I found it so sweet though. I wish id gotten the smaller one. They also sell chocolates I think. Overall, I like this place! read more

Chocolats Favoris is an ice cream and chocolate shop from Montreal that has finally made its way over to Vancouver. This location is on the smaller side, tucked in the Gastown neighborhood. There are lots of chocolate dips to choose from; luckily the friendly staff offer samples before you commit to one! This time me and my fiancé ordered the premium cotton candy with the sprinkles and cotton candy fluff, and a regular dark chocolate dip - both in the small size. They were both good - my fiancé loves the darkest of chocolates and I have a child's palette when it comes to ice cream. The small is already pretty big so I would recommend sticking to a small or kids size! read more

Menu very hard to navigate. Only ONE vegan flavor. Fine. A decent sized cone here is around $10, or so it appears. When the bill came it was almost $14. I said what's going on this is an ice cream cone! It's almost $3 MORE for oat based ice cream. There is NO reason to charge extra for vegan options. Supermarket prices are almost identical for milk and oat milk. Think about this, folks. $14 for an ice cream cone plus tax, and of course they ask for a tip on the machine. Jesus. This ice cream is delicious! The topping tastes amazing and stays on the actual ice cream rather than falling all over the place. We tried the milk chocolate coating and the dulce de leche. Was very excited to try this spot out but it was a hug let down. I ordered a small vanilla with original dark chocolate in a cup. First of all the chocolate was so think it was impossible to penetrate with the wooden spoon. When I ate the chocolate it did not snap or melt, the texture was off. Then there is the worst part, the vanilla ice cream. It tasted so gross, like the flavour of mould. It was bad. My partner ordered the brownie dark chocolate in a cup and couldn't even eat it the chocolate was so thick. Sadly we threw both away and left. It was extremely disappointing! Highly suggest going to Soft Peaks close by for amazing ice cream! read more

Patrick, the owner, was friendly and patiently explained the options to us. He let us try the ice cream as well as the dipping sauces. I got the vanilla ice cream dipped in salted caramel milk chocolate with pretzels and popcorn. It was delicious. My wife got the dulce de leche and loved it as well.
