If you're away with a big group of others, as I was with 9 others this worked very good value. I think there were 5 bedrooms, all with en-suite. They were large rooms each with either a double and a single, or twin singles. They say they can sleep 14 comfortably. It's a very modern and spacious bungalow on a quiet cul de sac, just off the N10 road about 10mins southeast of Kilkenny. Plenty of parking space, we were a big truck and 2 cars.
The lady who met us with the key was very friendly, and considering we were a motley-looking bunch of actors, (particularly me), didn't look at us all disapprovingly!
Massive open plan kitchen, with everything you need, (first time I'd ever seen a lean mean grillIng machine!), 2 separate living rooms with 2 separate tv's. It was a great place, and we were only there for a night!
Kilkenny, (Cill Chainnigh), is a great town that I would dearly loved more time than the little less than a day we had here. Never had time to see the impressive castle, lots of very old buildings and so many enticing pubs. Did sample a few, Tynans Bridge house bar by the River Nore stands out. I remember the most stunning looking woman in here with long raven-black hair, highest cheek bones and eyes as green as emeralds. She looked like a figure from celtic legend, and if I said I caught her gaze, It'd be a myth!
Back at Melville where house parties are not encouraged, everyone had gone to bed and left me with a bottle of whiskey! I was told next day that I was singing all the verses of 'The Fields of Athenry', ("oh baby let the free birds fly"), which is something I tend to do with enough of the uisce beatha inside me!
