Memorial Care Hospital is definitely more upscale than the other hospitals I have been to! When I walked up to the front counter, there is a beautiful water fountain behind them. The hospital has separate buildings and walking around felt like being on a college campus. They could do a better job with signage though, since it is not always clear where things are located. Inside, the facilities are well kept, the care from the staff is excellent, and the hospital food was better than at other medical facilities. Had out patient surgery at Orange coast memorial and I would like to say Lupe L from the business office at the out patient surgery should not be working with people. She was very rude, dismissive, and condescending. I speak English even though I have a full Asian name. She did not speak to me, but she spoke at me. I felt very disrespected but I think this was only toward Asian people because she did the same thing to another patient name Vu. He was spelling his name to her and all she did was say give me your id. Ok... lady acknowledge the human being in front of you and learn to speak with courtesy. it's just unfortunate that people in healthy care have no respect for other culture. read more

Dr. Ali was amazing! I had a 33 millimeter lipoma removed from my shoulder. I have a horrible patient, in my eyes. He was so understanding and checked on me the whole time. Seriously he was wonderful. He told me every step of the way, even though I go through shock he was excellent at understanding how I was just breathing through it. These were the first stitches I've received in my whole life and you can't even notice. I'm grateful for his caring bedside manner, understanding how every persons body reacts differently and I was blessed to have such a great surgeon for this. Please note, there are four or five doctors at this facility so if they discharge you as a patient you can't see any of the other doctors there so if you are a HMO patient you will not be able to see any of the doctors. Luckily, I found another fantastic doctor with great office staff to have my surgery and will never ever going back to SMART DIMENSIONS again. I had my weight loss surgery here & everything went well. I lost the weight and I feel it was successful. That part I feel was positive. The surgery, the hospital staff and my initial experience. During COVID time, when nobody was going to medical appointments I guess I lost my referral to keep going for my annual check-ups. I tried to call the office and would have a tough time getting through. I left messages with no return call. I kept calling and told my Dr. would need to get a referral to them. I had the Dr. send another referral & would call over and over and couldn't get through to schedule an appointment. I finally received a message they received the referral and to call to schedule an appointment and when I called they said they didn't have it. I understand that offices are busy and potentially understaffed but they called me to say they received it and then said they didn't have it. At that point I became irritated. I finally got my appointment and a lab order with the incorrect name on it. I was supposed to get the labs before my appointment. I called several times requesting they update my name & didn't get a response. I had to attend my check up without labs, which I felt was a waste of time and money. I did discuss some recent weight gain due to my hormones & offered the option of semiglutide or trezepitide. The options would be cash and extremely expensive. I chose to pay because I wanted the weight off and paid for 2 months with no weightloss. The medication they use is through a compounding pharmacy & not the name brands you hear of most commonly. After no side effects, which I hear from a lot of people on the medication and no weightloss, I questioned the efficacy of their product. I felt it was a placebo. I asked my Dr. friend and she said you're not losing weight because what they are giving you is not the real thing. I have had one month of the name brand in the past and was successful at losing weight so I believe my friend. I don't know what they are providing but please take this into consideration when determining whether to spend the money. I'm $1000 in with no results and not too happy about it. I have mixed reviews because the Dr.'s are friendly and I'm sure great as surgeons, but you don't deal with them much. I feel the office staff can improve on customer service, organization and returning calls. I think they have been improving but they have a little more to go. I want to give a fair review. I just want people to understand if they are paying cash because I know things are more expensive these days and you need to stretch your dollars. Have caution with the compounding medications they use because it's expensive and may not work. I do know that just because they didn't work for me, doesn't mean it will be the same for everybody, but you may want to get the real deal if your money is tight & you don't want to chance it. I wish I did because $1000 is a lot of money to me. Also want to say before it's mentioned, I did try everything to make it work. My appetite is already smaller but I focused on high protein, low sugar, whole foods and veggies. I started my journey for weightloss surgery in January of 2017 and have nothing but good things to say about this office, the surgeons, and staff. They've been super gracious and pleasant as they've dealt with my questions even when stupid ones or repeating myself. The office is clean and open which is nice considering some offices are stuffy... this is not. I was given Dr. Michael Russo as my surgeon as I had no preferences when asked and honestly I wouldnt choose differently. September 18th of 2017 he did my sleeve surgery. He was super friendly answering my questions and seeing me before my surgery in preop the day of. As I progressed he made sure to be honest and help me find solutions when my weight slowed. I had issues around January and come to find out needed my gallbladder removed. Dr russo was proactive in getting it taken care of and February 26th 2018 did that surgery as well. I started having issues with acid reflux that meds were not controlling anymore. Again dr russo was proactive in resolving it and august 6th 2018 revised me to bypass sucessfully getting rid of the acid reflux. I would recommend him to anyone. Hes warm and friendly and gives you a sense of comfort and safety. He does not rush to get you gone and will answer your questions and try to find solutions to your problems instead of just brushing you off as some doctors do. read more

I'm still going through the approval process for surgery and this office has been nothing but more WEIGHT added to me. Everyone except a few of the girls in the front are RUDE. Ellen the office manager talks down to you she isn't there to help she's there to tell you how much she knows and you either pass or fail. Vicky is just as rude and is super short with you and talks to you like your irritating her. And Katrina can't hide the fact that she's teaching you a free class and all she's there to do is read you a packet to get approved, she's also short and puts off a rude tone. Just had my first consult with Dr. Russo today. I cannot tell you how fantastic it was to have real conversation about my concerns, (I had to switch from Dr. Iqbal due to horrible follow up care and A LOT of misinformation). Dr. Russo is fantastic! He really put me at ease, for God's sake the man spent over an hour with me! Over an hour !! He is so knowledgeable, addressed every single question I had (and I brought a two page list of single spaced questions because I'm just that anal and starved for information). I could go on and on. When I first arrived at smart dimensions I was a 21 year old college student who was 5'9 and weighed 381 pounds. The staff and the doctor I had the pleasure of interacting with are considerate, helpful and non-judgmental. The staff realizes what you're going through and make sure you have no issues at all-- I never did. My doctor was Dr. Russo. He is easily the kindest, most REALISTIC doctor I have ever met and talked to. He explained everything clearly, answered my countless questions, and gave me the reality/statistics of the procedure. He made me feel secure in that he wasn't a pushy doctor forcing me to have the surgery. He explained to me that if I was dedicated and committed to using this life tool (gastric sleeve) to make long lasting life changes, then I should consider it. That being said this is NOT a magic weight-loss tool. It gives you the chance to hit the reset button on your eating habits and it shows you the benefits of eating well. It teaches you how to mindfully eat so you can lose weight in a healthy manner and MAINTAIN that long term. You lose a ton of weight initially and you get to see yourself in a new light. Every couple of pounds you start to look different, feel different and experience new things-- things you wouldn't even think of. I needed some counseling because no matter how hard I tried the numbers on the scale didn't move! I'd workout 3Xs a week, including a mandatory 5K! Yet still, the numbers on the scale wouldn't drastically change. So I knew I had to seek professional advice. 1st of all, their staff is amazing! My journey to meeting them began around January 2018, I was researching revision surgery and they kept coming up in my searches. As I live outside the USA my initial contact was via email and telephone. I found them to be extremely helpful, reassuring and professional to deal with. Revision surgery was scheduled for August 2018 when I flew to Los Angeles. The contact that I had with everyone before flying there was great; clear instructions on what I needed to have done from my side before traveling. Prompt answers to all my email queries and questions, going above and beyond to find solutions that would work for me as someone who was flying in for this surgery alone. They have changed my life. I was always thin my whole life but once I hit 35 my body changed and no matter how hard I watched what I ate and exercised I could not drop the weight. Hello, I did the procedure with the balloons, and even though the staff was great at taking money it ended up doing as much as i thought, i lost 0 lb my stomach just stretched to accommodate them leaving me with an even bigger place to fill afterwords and trust me i had them in for 2 and a half extra painful months. I experienced so much pain I could 't go to work most days It was a debilitating pain the staff is so great, that is if i could get a hold of them and so helpful that o went through Christmas and new year in bed with so much pain because they were needed their time off.
