This is now my 3rd appointment with Optum, two times at their Costa Mesa location and once in Anaheim. The Costa Mesa location is better in my opinion, not as crowded, organized, and more updated. My experience at the one in Anaheim was kind of traumatizing since I got billed for unnecessary items and then couldn't get ahold of someone for 5 months to answer my question on why. So I was really apprehensive to come to this location. Luckily it seems like they know how to ensure I am doing services that are covered under my insurance, so I appreciate that. I feel like these past two times of visiting the doctor here in Costa Mesa everyone seems to be in a rush but I guess that's America for you. Other than that I would recommend. read more

September 20, 2018 Went to see my pulmonary specialist Dr. Haung, first time in 6 months. I had surgery so canceled my May appt.. I just love Dr. Haung I leave his office always feeling better than when I got there. I love his kind gentle manners he so easy to talk to he understands his patients. I feel at ease talking to Dr. Haung I can open up about anything. I have been very well taken care of by Dr. Haung and his nurse. This is review is strictly based off of a medical assistant in OB named Ivonne. As soon as she called my name to go back, she had an attitude. She stated I WASTED her time. That I wasn't suppose to go in since I had just been seen 4 days prior to this appointment. Telling me I took up a patients spot. Telling me I wasted all their time. Mind you this was all done in the hallway as patients were walking by. Not only did I have to clear my morning to make this appointment which she actually scheduled for me. But I was being yelled at by some kid and I was humiliated. I was finally put in a room. I can hear her telling the NP that SHE had forgotten to cancel my double booked appointment. Once I heard this, I knew her yelling at me was to try to convince me I was at fault. The NP and the medical assistant Ivonne walk into the room and Ivonne has this look on her face like she was superior to me. I immediately addressed the way she scolded me in the hallway and she said "I'm sorry if you took my conversation as an attitude". The NP was very professional and this review has absolutely nothing to do with her which is why I am not naming her. The NP asked for me to stay because she wanted me to report this all to the office manager. I waited but she came back to tell me she was busy. I just received a call from Monica their office manager. I called back the girl who answered the phone didn't say the company name or her name and instead said what. The girl who answered immediately had an attitude, had me repeat my information to her 3 times!! And tells me they only called to follow up on my lab work. THEY NEVER TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE LAB WORK DONE!! (And why would the manager be calling for this and not the medical assistant) I suffered a miscarriage a few months back. Im very scared with this pregnancy. The fact that they lack communication makes me so upset. So why would an office manager follow up on lab work?? Makes me think that the person who answered my call knows Yvonne and doesn't want me talking to a manager. Mind you I DIDNT ask for a manager. Dr Debold and the staff have been amazing to my autistic son, understanding his condition and how to care for him. Even if my pediatrician is not available I can see another doctor the same day and they have all been so far kind and knowledgeable. The sheer attitude of the staff, the incompetency, and the lack of knowledge shows. There was an incident where they had an emergency and NONE OF THE MEDICAL STAFF knew what to do. I'm not sure why I stuck with this medical group for so long- for a few years! As a young adult, I thought maybe that's just how medical service could be. Having terrific health insurance, I should've done myself a favor and found a different place. I kept telling myself to wait it out and stick with it, and I'm kicking myself. I just called to schedule an annual check-up/physical (nothing major either and no procedures of any kind) and was told (rudely, with a bad attitude) that the earliest available was two months away! I've also waited hours and hours in the urgent care with pretty unrealistic estimates at times. There have been a couple of times that things went okay, and the urgent care staff is usually pretty nice, but about 80% of the time whoever answers the phones to schedule appointments is not helpful and even rude on occasions. I would definitely not recommend using this as your primary care place. Maybe urgent care if you're in a bind, but I really feel like this place is lacking in customer service, professionalism, and ease of access for patients (two months for an appointment...). read more

Let me start by saying that if you value your health and life, AVOID this place. I was referred to a Gynecologist here Dr Nguyen and on 04/15 she referred me to an Oncologist at UCI as my results came back with Cancer. 04/20 I called to find out why they had not sent the referral to UCI as it was an urgent matter to me, but apparently it was not to them. They stated they will fax it. 04/21 -UCI still had not referral from this office so I called the office and they stated they would fax it again. 04/22 - UCI still had not referral so i proceeded to call this office again to find out what is going on and they said the same thing " we faxed it" 04/25-I called UCI and still no referral so I got the fax them from UCI to make sure the office had the correct number and came to find out they were faxing it to the phone number and not the fax. 04/26-UCI still had no refrall so I called the office the coordinator confirmed that they faxed it gain to the phone number after i had given them UCI's fax number. They faxed it to the correct number. 04/28 -UCI received the referral, but its missing chart notes, Dx code and CTP code, it it apparent that this staff does not know what they are doing. I went in asked to speak with the manager and the staff kept on saying we have no supervisor and no manager and game me the run around so finally I spoke to Dr Ngueyn and she stated she will take care of it. 04/29 I called UCI and and they stated they got the referral and that they were processing it. 05/2 i was able to schedule an appointment at UCI for May 27th 05/06 I called UCI to confirm my appointment and came to find out that Dr. Nguyen referred me to a gynecologist and NOT and oncologist. I called the doctors office to find why she did that and the rep told me " oh yeah, doctor made a mistake, but we just submitted a new auth request to ins just yesterday" I asked the coordinator how is that possible if I called 20 times total in the last few days and at least 7 people looked at the referral including the doctor when i went in personal to file a complaint. I asked why nobody called me yesterday to let me know and I asked to speak to the manager and again they said : we have no manager and no supervisor here" and refused to transfer me to anyone. Now, i have to start this nightmare again and they seem not to care that I got cancer. I can not explain the level of incompetency of the entire staff including doctors, no accountability, worse work ethic from entire staff including doctor. 20 calls and 2 visits to the office, 20 days and here I am starting the process again while my cancer spreads. it is apparent that this place have structural problems because the problem start with the doctors down to the untrained staff. If have ever heard the term " I am here just for the paycheck" then this is your place. AVOID THIS PLACE BECAUSE YOU WILL DIE BEFORE YOU GET ANY CARE. Lisset M read more

Regrettably, while I like my primary physician, I think Optum Healthcare is terrible. Case in point, I took me 3 calls to get Optum to fax a referral letter, and I'm still not sure yet that the referral letter is successfully received. Each call requires me to wait from a couple of minutes to several minutes. I believe you can find a better healthcare organization out there. read more

I recently came here due to an unfortunate spider bite. Immediately upon walking in, Cam, the medical receptionist, greeted me and asked me the reason for my visit. She was extremely friendly, helpful, and professional. It was my first visit here and she made the whole new-patient-check-in process very quick and easy. Cam also helped me get a better understanding of my medical insurance. The clinic is very clean and also conveniently open until 8 PM. I was seen by Dr. Im. He explained the after-care process of a spider bite and made me feel at ease. I came on a Tuesday evening around 5:30 and was out of there approximately under an hour. I definitely recommend this clinic thanks to their wonderful staff. This will be my new urgent care clinic. read more

I've had the worst time getting ahold of my doctor this past year. I was denied my birth control refill without notice, when I called I was told I needed to come in for a Pap. When I tried to make an appointment I was told I couldn't due to Covid, so why take my pills away?? Then because I was off my pills for a month I was told I had to take a pregnancy test to prove I wasn't pregnant to get "emergency refill," well after agreeing to that I set up an appointment that was a week prior to my "emergency refill" running out. Took that test days and days ago and still haven't heard anything. I just called to push it through and was told they were closed until TUESDAY. This place SUCKS. I want out. read more

Misdiagnosed at their Urgent Care. Was comforted to see similar 1-Star reviews for Dr. Fariba Shokoohy on other websites (see for yourself). They all align with my experience exactly: terrible bedside manners, poor communication, and what seems to be an outdated knowledge of medicine. I can't say I've really ever complained about a doctors visit before until now. She's very combative, a poor listener, and doesn't explain much. She diagnosed my condition as harmless and probably nothing because a single strep swab came out negative. She prescribed a cookie cutter antibiotic for a single identified symptom, and left the room without saying much more. I wasn't even sure if I was finished or if she was coming back. A follow-up with an ear/nose/throat specialist confirmed my doubts - the condition was in fact much more serious. Always get a 2nd opinion after internal medicine/family doctor and never trust Ms. Shokoohy. She should probably be re-evaluated for her aptitude to carry a license to practice in the US. read more

I've had a very frustrating experience with this medical group and their doc. - Rama Bethala MD I saw didn't even order an urine test when I visited for an annual physical exam. - Nurse wasn't knowledgeable about their capabilities and procedures when I asked her about a particular service. - Nurse called with the exam results, but didn't give me a good instruction on an abnormal result - either the doc didn't give it to her or she just didn't understand. - Copy of exam results was never mailed to me although I asked them twice. Not ONCE has this dr seen my son in person after making three appointments with them. All they do are tele visits apparently, even with a negative COVID test. I've had too much patience with this place. First review is for Dr. Bathala, I brought my son for stitches to be removed and his pediatrician was not available so I had to go with Dr. Bathala, she didn't know how to remove them I told her he got the stitches from a doctor on our vacation a little accident he had on a water slide. Dr. Bathala kept picking at his scar and didn't know how to remove it, then she tells me to just leave the stitches in there! I was furious, I told her to send us to someone else who can remove them! She gives us a referral for the dermatologist and he pulled out the stitches in less than a minute! But I had to drive and pay the copay for both WHY? Why did she get paid for something she didn't know how to remove?????! Ridiculous. Second review I made an appointment for myself recently with Dr. Lin for a little bump on my finger, she didn't know what it was not even a clue! She didn't even want to say what she thought it was. Umm could it be a wart and suggest an over the counter medication???????? I got a referral for the dermatologist and the next available appointment is in 2 months!!! So if I have cancer I'll be dead by then! It's easier to self diagnose and treat at home at this point! What's the point of paying almost $500 a month for this health insurance then???? read more

Been a Kaiser patient for 22 years..and now Changed to HCP! So far I am very pleased with the Doctors! Dr Lin (PCP) and Dr Masouem (Ob & Gyn) are both great! Very professional and warm-hearted! They listen to you with undivided attention! Easy to talk to and very gentle with their care. I was worried about my transition from one health care group to another but I am definitely happy with the change and grateful where I am now. The office ladies and MAs are outstanding as well. Just got home after my appointment with Dr. Masouem, and was compelled to write a review right away. EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION I had today was beyond friendly. They talk to you like a human being, not like a number. From the woman who checked me in, to the nurse, to the doc himself, all extremely professional, and made a not-so-pleasant procedure actually kind of fun! They took time to answer my questions, they made sure I was comfortable the entire time, the facilities were clean; honestly, weird to say but I had a great time at the Gyno! Let me start with the beginning. When I arrived at healthcare Partners for my procedure I was greeted by Alejandra who was on her lunch break but was so friendly and polite and let me know I would be helped as soon as they were done with lunch. By the way I was early and they were back before my appt time. Once they took me back Dr Lee and her MA's Ana and Marisela made me feel so comfortable and at ease. During my procedure Dr. Lee made a suggestion that if I wanted I could play my music on my phone to make me even more relaxed. I took her suggestion and we all had a nice little sing along and the procedure went by so fast and painless. Talk about people making you feel welcome and comfortable. I so didn't feel like I was at a doctors office. Nothing cold about this experience. I almost felt like we were all going to go out to lunch when they were done lol. Everybody in this office is very professional and kind and I'm actually going to change my insurance to be seen at this office for everything. Please keep up the professionalism and great attitudes. I took (10/21) my child (6 yrs) due to heavy fever but This time I'm really disappointed with the doctors how they treat us. At least the Doctor wasn't enquiries clearly and just gave something and go. After couple of days same situation. Since my kid wasn't recovered - visited again (after got confirmation over phone from the doc to revisit) - but I wasn't comfortable to visit the same doctor. Then the new doctor lady - huh she is ridiculous - without at least coming into the examine room or checked the today / previous day visit details - just started asking nonsense questions. She didn't very didn't understand patient situation. She says 100.8 degree also not a fever just ignore. I will not recommend such rude doctors! I have never dealt with such incompetence with a doctor and their office since I've become pregnant. I really wanted a female obgyn so i came here and my doctor is Diemchi Nygyunphuc. This office has been calling a wrong number that I don't know and I've corrected it and made sure they only have my actual number every single time since my 2nd visit. I went to the hospital for flu and attempted to call my doctor and set up a follow up and have some questions answered twice with 2 different receptionists. Neither of them forwarded my messages and concerns to my doctor even after telling me they did and that I should receive a call back. I understand circumstances have changed due to Coronavirus but changing the location of my appointments only a couple days beforehand is unacceptable. I made them aware I do not have transportation and rely on the bus. As a pregnant woman during COVID19 I should not be asked to come to their office to just pick up a form to take to a seperate office. If my appointments are being switched to over the phone or via webcam. These forms i need to be sent via email or mail. This office started calling my correct phone number but leaving no voicemails, I made sure my voicemail box was empty because I noticed they kept calling but leaving NO message. When I asked them in person why im having such a hard time getting a hold of my doctor she lied to my face telling me my voicemail box has been full. It wasn't and hasn't been full in who knows how long. She even attempted to call my phone in front of me to prove this. I have an automated answering machine, it says "Please leave a message" and then it beeps like any other answering machine. My doctor says "See it just beeps" My boyfriend and I and the nurses all looked at each other in complete shock. If this woman is too incompetent to know how to leave me a voicemail and their office is too incompetent to forward important information and concerns to a doctor. Then this is not the place to go if you are expecting a child. This is my first pregnancy and I'm really disappointed in the care I've gotten from this office. read more

The issue here is some of the docs don't seem to care about your time. Sitting 10 minutes on a 9am appt. How would this change if they had to pay you for every minute they are late. Let's go for 27 minutes. It would be nice if someone would notify me that doc is running behind. That would defuse the situation a bit. I would still be upset but not as much. It's as if no one has manners or work etiquette. It may be time to look for another doc or facility. 9:30 is when they finally took me into the docs office let's see how long before I actually see my doc. It is now 9:42...9:47 finally. 9 minutes to meet with me. Gotta love this. Such is life. read more

I've been going to this facility for about three years now and after three different bad experiences, I'm done. Some of their staff is very friendly, others are rude and aren't the brightest. First bad experience was with a doctor whom I had to call several times to get test results back long after I was told I would get them. Turned out this doctor never told me I had HPV (after getting the vaccine) and never even reported it on my patient portal online. I didn't find out until a year later when I saw a different doctor because that first doctor doesn't work here any more. Their office is not good at communicating with patients at all. Office calls me about an ultrasound that I only have one day left to get and gives me no other choice because of where I am at with my pregnancy. Had I'd been informed about this ultrasound and and told that there's a deadline in my pregnancy to get this ultrasound; I would've been able to make arrangements with my work, but no. I get one freaking day notice and have to research what kind of ultrasound this is for. I do not recommend this facility for any OBGYN issues, check ups or pregnancy. read more

She was diagnosed with the Flu prescribed meds but the dr never called in my daughter's prescription. I've waited at the pharmacy for over 2 hrs, I'm at the pharmacy as I'm writing this review, waiting on someone from their medical group to call in my daughter's prescription. I'm heartbroken and furious having to sit around watching my ill child, who has been having a fever of 103 degrees, holding my hand asking me if she's going to get her medication soon! I have been here twice and both Dr's were amazing! My father was a doctor and I have been around doctors my whole life. A lot of them have egos and don't treat their patients like humans. My father was very good to his patients and I always admired that. The two doctors that I saw were very much the same. The wait was not long and both doctors each time I went were informed, weren't rushed, joked with me, and were overall great! Years ago, we had HealthCare Partners and weren't at all happy, so when it became my granddaughter's medical group, I was skeptical. I was incredibly pleased and surprised by the difference today. Everyone we dealt with was exceptional. Urgent care Dr. Tran was reassuring, humorous, and made a difficult situation much more bearable, not to mention his diagnosis was right on target. The entire UC staff was great. We needed to find a new primary care doctor and Adrianna, patient care liaison, was so patient and helpful, including scheduling the appointment for us. Then there was Dr. Behbehani, whom my granddaughter saw for the first time this morning. She was caring, compassionate, and my granddaughter was very happy to know she will be taking care of her in the future. Finally, there was Sylvia Caldera at the front desk. She is the first person you meet when entering the office and she represents it so well. She was so personable and engaging. Great job HealthCare Partners. The changes made are all for the better. So last night I had an appointment with the nurse practitioner Tricia Hoang and let me tell you I didn't even finish listening to what this rude "nurse" had to say before walking out. She walks in the room already diagnosing me saying my stomach issues are my diet not even checking my vitals or feeling anything, mind you I've been to 3 different doctors prior to this nurse and they all haven't said that nor have they said that has ANYTHING to do with it. So I stand up for myself and say "no I don't think it could be my diet cause I can't really eat" she DEMANDS and talks down to me like I don't understand that it's just my diet, I mean who throws up stomach bile everyday over a diet? The way this lady talked to me was just not ok, so without any further do I'm not gonna sit and let this lady talk down to me or judge me anymore than her eyes could already SHOW, I'm a young mom so it was all judgement when she walked in, and I wasn't having it. Healthcare partners, get a nurse that won't treat a patient like dirt or trash because of their medical history. Absolutely my WORST experience in a doctors office, Tricia Hoang, you really need to learn some good bed side manners. I come to a doctor to get help not to get put down by some nurse that thinks she's higher up than I am.
