There are certain things - medically speaking - that we must do sometimes to sustain or improve our…read morequality of life. When I was told I needed an XYZ transfusion (omitting the type of transfusion for my privacy), I became uneasy...even nervous. I pictured rows of "patients" sitting in a chair attached to a tube that is connected to a pole that is pulled around should a frail patient need to relieve their bladder. BUT....whoa! This was like the Business Class on British Airways. They greeted me with matching energy and welcome, telling me a little about the setup while walking me to the refreshment stand - coffee, water, juice, a variety of small snacks - and then asked, "Would you like a private or open room?" Selena was a delight, even coming back at the beginning to ensure I had everything I needed (she is a keeper, AdaptIV). I picked a private room with voice commands for music, volume, fluffy leather recliner chair, etc., and just before leaving, she said, "Would you like a warm blanket?" I felt so cared for and comforted that I wanted more transfusions (lol, not really, but you get the point). Then, the nurse (two days, different nurses, and both OUTSTANDING) explained everything, bringing things that would help me with the discomfort. I was so relaxed I fell asleep. It was nothing like I imagined; it was something I enjoyed. So....kudos to AdaptIV, but more importantly, thank you to Selena and the two nurses who cared for me (ugh, I forget their names); you all made it a lovely experience, and you were all engaging. I wanted to invite you to my house for dinner, lol....not really, but you get the idea. Thank you very much!!

It takes a special kind of person to be a nurse. One who cares deeply about others. I've had my…read morethird child at Methodist Hospital. The other two were born at Methodist Medical Center and Willowbrook locations. Service quality has been consistently good for both child births. This is why we were keen on delivering at Methodist Sugar Land. There were several nurses at the Sugar Land location that went above and beyond - 1. Robin (delivery date nurse) explained all of the steps during baby delivery in a way that was easy to understand. She was patient and anticipated all of the things we would need prior to us asking. Her fun stories kept us entertained while she cared for us. 2. Maria and Lisa (post pardum nurses) were attentive, professional and went out of the way to ensure we were comfortable. The staff are professional and know their stuff.

Indeed, it is…read morenecessary just to get through the long wait on the phone to make an appointment, or to use their online scheduler. Then, there is the true ordeal over which to pray...paying the OUTRAGEOUSLY HUGE testing costs. Did I mention this is a non-profit hospital?? My horrible Methodist doc, Wade Rosenburg, called in an ultrasound for my gallbladder. Well, he didn't really call it in so much as I had to make my own appointment, then wait a week just for a testing date, followed by arrival at 7 am only to find out the orders weren't there after all! So, they called the doc to get them. Then, instead of the 2-3 days I was quoted for the results, it was 3 weeks! So, what, you may ask, did I get for my trouble? First, this most Christian of hospitals didn't like my $5K deductible, and demanded half down on the test to the tune of over $600. That, or no test. Nice time to tell me upon arrival. Talk about an expensive ultrasound! The results were inconclusive, so another test, a HIDA scan was ordered, or rather, not really because again said orders weren't found. Methodist called the day before, this time to demand pre-payment of 3k! Hubby and I went to the financial office that afternoon to discuss payment options. They wouldn't work with us beyond charging $2000. and paying the rest over 2 months. The rest, you might wonder, would total $3500. once the doctor's reading of the test was added. In shock, I cancelled the test and decided to call around other testing centers. After all, imaging centers are everywhere, so why not see what they charge? Enter Fort Bend Imaging Center. This FOR PROFIT biz's charge for a HIDA Scan? If filing insurance, $560. If self-pay, $260. This included a doctor's reading! My CAT scan was a mere $660. compared to $4K Methodist charges. A 10X mark up by a non-profit?? Begs the question just where all that money Methodist steals from their patients and their insurance companies ends up. Well, there IS that small little chapel and lovely bronze of Jesus...

She justified everything as normal, but agreed to prescribe me some heartburn medication since none of the OTC things were working, and mine was so bad that I couldn't even lay down without intense burning. She was empathetic when I ended up with a PUPPS rash, and gave me suggestions of things I could do to ease the discomfort. Since I had a scheduled c-section, she gave me several dates to choose from, which was nice. Postnatal care: This is where I have issues. The MFM had me on baby asprin since week 20, and I'm not sure if there was a lack of communication, but I was never informed that I needed to stop taking it prior to surgery. That being said, I ended up with pretty bad postpartum hemorrhaging that could have been easily avoided. I will say, I do like that she made my incision super low so it's not visible even with bikini-style underwear. She also put "everything" back well, so my abdomen looks defined at times because of how she placed everything. The nurses are the reason I skipped my 6 month postpartum checkup. I don't remember their names, but one of them was super rude to me when I called about my postpartum hemorrhaging. I even remember one of them being sassy when I would call in for questions while I was pregnant. It's also alarming that I skipped the appt, and no one ever called to check up. As bad as this sounds, I still haven't gotten checked out, but I plan on finding a different OB/Gyn and getting a very overdue postpartum check. Nurses make a huge difference in how the patient feels about a practice, and I have to dock off a star because of their service.

My overall experience was just okay. The job was done but this is not what I am looking for as my…read morefirst time mom experience. My complaints are: 1) Dr. Wong is extremely rushed and does not pay attention to detail (she is not rude though). She does not make your visit personal and I am just patient #123. I understand doctors are busy but in that setting I am a customer so I don't care how busy you are. For example, I asked her to check a few things once she walks into the room and she does not remember to check until I remind her again before she walks out. She does not take her time to chat with you and see how you truly are doing (I especially value this because I am a first time mom and I am anxious and nervous about everything.) 2) Office staffs are not friendly but they seem to improve a bit after I sent a complaint to the main office. They are not patient in answering your questions and of course I had to deal with them on wrong billings. 3) Although I have never met Dr. Wong's nurse Rebecca, I already dislike her due to her phone etiquette. She makes you sound dumb and has attitude when talking to you. In summary, if you are looking for a passionate and personal OB/GYN, unfortunately I would not recommend Dr. Wong even though she receives good rating from the majority reviews.
