Beautiful park with trails on huge lake. Very reasonably priced. Stayed 6 weeks in a motor home with full hookups. Will definitely return!

It had some nice wildflowers and butterflies to check out along the way. As it was only a mile, it was a nice way to stretch the legs. The hiking club trail is at the bonanza area which is about 11 miles from Meadowbrook. It's a walk along the lake which takes you to a small waterfall which is colored red from the iron in the water. We saw several deer, a turkey family, and a few frogs along the path. Nice hike. The gentleman in the visitor center was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

We had one of the few electrical sites. Park wasn't busy. This place is a secret?! There was a boat landing and parking lot adjacent to the campground. This is a fishing lake. Didn't see any water sports or even any swimming. As big as the lake is, it has a pond feel near the edge with algae and weeds. We still went in at the little beach area. Call us HOT and desperate. We found there was a big spring area in the water where it was literally freezing. I have felt cold spots in lakes before, but this was a big area where you could walk or stand on sand that was as cold as ice. ReFreshing! The staff comes by a couple times a day if you have questions. Otherwise there is a building with some tshirts and smore sticks where he hangs out.

Quiet, spacious, beautiful, clean, and great customer service. The sites are large and have great grass for you and your pups to enjoy. Summit has a higher altitude than other places in South Dakota so it has perfect summer weather, a few degrees cooler than everyone else and a light breeze to make it perfect. The owners Larry and Gilda are the best. They do so much to make all their guest feel at home. And they are great community members as well. Let's face it the town is small and doesn't have a lot to offer outside of fishing and hunting, but Larry and Gilda keep the store stocked with essentials and keep you informed about thing going on the in the area. This year they even started an Ice Cream Truck and let me tell you the Ice Cream is Fabulous! People come from all around for tasty treats. They also host a weekly music jam session. Most of the players are locals that are wonderful players but campers who are passing through also join in. All playing levels are encourage to join in. I am a beginning player and they welcomed me in. Each week playing with this great group has made me a better player. An added bonus they built a Dollar General this summer right on Hwy 12 where you turn to go into Summit. It is sure an added bonus to be able to get those needed items without having to drive. I highly suggest you stop over here for a night or more you won't be sorry.

Several buildings have been moved here (e.g., a claim shanty, two schools, and a church) and a few are replicas such as the Ingalls' shanty and the hat-roof barn. Everything was very hands on and kid friendly. Kids could do laundry in a wash tub and hang it on a line to dry, play a pump organ, work a treadle sewing machine, braid cloth for a rug, make a jump rope, make a corn cob doll, attend school at a one-room school house, drive a covered wagon, drive a pony cart, ride a pony, etc. We got there at 10 am on a very hot day (temps in the 90s) and we stayed for a little over 2 hours. We didn't walk to the church because it seemed like a long walk in the hot sun, but we did everything else. We could have stayed a bit longer but we were hot and hungry so we left. We went they last weekend in June before the Pageant Days so it wasn't very busy and we never had to stand in line to do any activities. Refrigerators with bottled water were scattered around the 10 acres. The bottles were 75 cents each and you pay in the gift shop when you leave. Nice gift shop.
