Many landmarks and places that make up the state parks of Colorado, had they been found in other parts of the country might have been designated national parks by leaders of yore. That's just the outsized grandeur of Colorado. I'll even venture: it makes other western states squirm with envy. All of Colorado is like an unofficial national park. It is, without debate, the best non-coastal state in the nation. Mueller and so many other places are a testament to that.

Dogs / domestics are not allowed on these trails to protect the abundant wildlife. And face it most people do not clean up after their dogs or let them off leash to chase wildlife. Not cool. I used to hike this park all the time living in Woodland Park. I've seen deer, elk, turkeys, owls, and I think it was a minx cat.

The cliffs are very high and there are rocks at the bottom so bring shoes and be safe. The water was also freezing but super refreshing.

A real unique venue which can get quite cold. They have two large storage bins that have been re purposed to be warming houses and are complete with a real door and incredible heater to keep you warm on those chilly nights. I highly recommend that you park near the middle of the parking lot, as there are no protective nets to keep stray pucks from belting your car in the parking lot. Make sure to bring warm clothes and protection to wear on your face at night. Also, be sure to take consistent breaks every 20 minutes when the temperatures get really low.

Climbing to the top of the hill will boast fantastic views of Downtown Denver and its amazing skyline. In the summer there is a dirt bike park where kids can bring their little BMX and mountain bikes and jump the man made hills. In the winter, Ruby Hill is known for sledding, and on sunny winter days the hills will be packed with kids sledding down the hill all day long. Also like many other parks in Denver, the entrance(s) have been blocked off to vehicular traffic in favor of a safer and more enjoyable environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
