The hike was only about a mile to get there and back. And the views were great the entire time. There's a small waterfall and area to swim as well as cliffs to jump into the water. The cliffs are very high and there are rocks at the bottom so bring shoes and be safe. The water was also freezing but super refreshing. read more

First off: I had a particularly bad experience, but I'll try not to let that cloud my judgement. So first off I was expecting more swimming area. There's a very small area that you can actually get in the water and if you want to swim around at all you are likely to get in the jumper's way. It's a very beautiful hike and easy enough. That was certainaly my favorite part. So as someone who likes to jump from high places, of course I was excited about the cliff jumping. Well I went down and a little too far to the left and ended up breaking my leg. While I know this is always a possibilty, I wish there would have been more reviews on just how frequent this happens here. Both the EMS that had to carry me up to the top (not nearly as easy as the hike down) and the hospital I went to said they see a lot of people come through - often more than one every couple days with serious injuries from this place. Wish I would have seen more of those reviews before I went ahead and jumped! So overall, would not go back. Even if it hadn't been for the broken leg, there just isn't that much to do once you hike down. read more

Be ready for a road trip to this place. This road trip was full of scenic views but Paradise was full of excitement. When you get there be prepared to have to do some hiking, and having to climb rocks to get down to the water and back up to the parking lot. But other than that I would highly recommend this place to others. read more

Respect the rocks and they will respect you. I've been coming here since middle school with my friends. As a local these "injury reviews" are hilarious, I've seen a lot of injuries after all my summers of going there and 100% of the time those who are getting injured are eager dumb tourists on vacation who are inexperienced but want to show off. I've seen a 100 lb female take the biggest jump off that rock and walk off no issue. But the guy from Maine who decided to take the same jump right after her to one up her? Definitely did not walk off fine. You should not jump if you are not with an experienced guide who knows the rocks. You should not jump if you don't have rock climbing experience and safety training. Sorry Amanda that you broke your leg, I garuntee it was because you were being one of those people with a cooler full of white claws and zero knowledge or respect of the rocks. read more

This was such a cool little hidden gem tucked away. My boyfriend and i didn't take the route that said trail we walked around the rocks and took the hard way down to the swimming hole. It was a good trail definitely was a workout for sure. Had a lot of people when we got fully down there.. next time will go earlier in the morning, and hike longer. Definitely is a lot of off trails which makes it fun.:) read more

WARNING: CLIFF JUMPING MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH! I visited awhile ago with a friend, who on her first jump ended up breaking her foot. When the EMC showed up, they told us that people break bones jumping into the water all the time and that people even die jumping. There are no warning signs or anything! The water is too shallow!!!! I can't believe that someone took the time to build a parking lot and even bathrooms, but no warning signs when people get injured and die frequently!?!?!? read more

As a local The Guffey Gorge use to be so peaceful and clean. Now it is filled with trash and people who don't respect the area. If you can't clean up after yourself please don't go. I find beer bottles, food wrappers, dirty diapers, cigarette butts, and a lot of clothing. It is discussing how much trash I clean up every time I go and it gets worse every year. Please respect nature and the wildlife that lives there or stay home. read more

I love this place! Beautiful views & hidden waterfall! My only complaint is that kids like to come up here to drink and smoke.

We had such a great time today on our trip to Paradise Cove swimming hole in Guffey, CO! We read a lot of reviews before we went that mentioned people being irresponsible with their trash, particularly people from out of town/out of state. So being "from away" (very, very far away), we brought along a few trash bags and spent a good amount of time hiking around and exploring the area while cleaning up trash left behind by other visitors. We filled a trash bag full to the brim of clothing, beer bottles, mostly cigarette butts, and even dirty diapers and applesauce cups. The fact of the matter is that even when I picked beer cans out of the water in front of the people who were responsible for them, they said they were "going to" pick them up and not to worry. I AM worried because I saw living and dead trout in the pools we were hiking around, and throwing your almost empty -but not quite- beer cans into their water isn't okay- it's poisoning them & that's why they're dying. These two out-of-towners care about preserving the natural beauty of Colorado and if everyone took the time to leave a place cleaner than when they found it- instead of pointing the finger of blame towards those who aren't natives- this state would be a more beautiful place for all of us. read more

I'm a cliff jumping junkie so you may not want to listen to my review if you don't enjoy jumping from large heights into a body of water. But if you like this kind of stuff then you will love it. The scenery is fantastic and the hike isn't bad at all. It's about half a mile in and half a mile out. You can jump from about 35 feet up into a smaller body of water. Was kind of crowded when we came, but still the highlight of my vacation in Colorado. read more

This place is awesome!! This year the water level seemed a little lower than normal which is odd given all the rain we have had this year. It has different heights for individual skill levels. I have jumped all the ledges on the left side and the 80ft ledge on the right side. Its a nice scenic hike over streams and rocks to the cove. read more

Parking is super crowded, DO NOT PARK ON THE SHOULDER OF ROAD! I watched an officer ticket three cars that were parked right next to the road, you must use the pull off areas (which fill quickly). The short hike to the jumping location is beautiful with a few spots where you have to cross the river via natural and manmade bridges. There are some areas where the trail gets steep but overall it's not a bad hike. Went there on a cloudy over cast Saturday and it was still pretty crowded. If you go please be respectful and bring a trash bag to pick up after yourself, it's an absolutely beautiful location. If you're looking for a private little getaway, this is not the place. But if your looking for a fun upbeat environment where you can meet some fun people this is as good as it gets. The average age range seemed to be 18-30 but there were a few kids there. And always remember to clench when you jump, unless you want a free colonoscopy. read more

This place could be awesome, but unfortunately it's been ruined by the spring break vibe. Not a lot of parking available so I'd suggest getting there early or waiting until the crowds die off later in the day. It's a short, easy "hike" in. Once you reach the swimming hole and the waterfall, it's littered with people who in my opinion don't value the outdoors. Music is fine, but blasting it when others are trying to enjoy peaceful time outside (especially when not everyone shares your musical taste) is seriously annoying. Add to that the excessive amount of smoking and drinking and the stupidity that goes with it and it just really ruins what could be an amazing little getaway. Leave no trace doesn't mean anything to this group as I noticed empty beer cans thrown everywhere. On the way out, not only did I pick up other people's trash but their dog waste left on the trail as well. I'm all for having a good time, but I guess I outgrew spring break-type parties a few years ago. 20-somethings enjoy. I'll wait for the BLM regulations to set in before I try to go back. read more
