This was an awesome winter hike and the visitor center was also good. The hike we did was a loop near three ponds, had a lot of great scenery with the fresh snow, and had some steep elevation gain. There were a few spots where snowshoes could have been good, but we all managed. The parking lot was large and the grounds were simple to navigate.

Nice park near cripple creek! Good place to stop if you're looking for fall colors. Lots of trails and picnic spots.

Great views and moderate level hike! We saw Greer Pond, Rock Pond, and Brook Pond. All had beautiful views and were shaded in the beginning but was exposed for the end of the hike. Plenty of parking and nice visitor center. Plenty of space and not crowded at all!

What a lovely state park, I just wish it was closer to Denver! After a nice drive through Woodland Park, you get to Divide then Mueller is not too far. We did a trail that took us to a number of ponds like Lost, Geer, Rock and Brook Pond and barely ran into anyone else the whole time. There's definitely a lot of ups and downs on the trails but well worth it plus it was pretty cool to see Pikes Peak from the "other" side. Dogs are allowed at the park but not on the trails. You get to see some beautiful sights down there, especially of the Sangre de Christo mountain range, just another set of mountains to tackle! They have a nice little visitors center with merch, bathrooms, water and tables if you need to take a break. I can't wait to come back here again in the fall and explore, aspens are a plenty at Mueller!

Beautiful state park with easy, moderate, and difficult hiking trails. Picnic locations as well. We only did the Lost Pond Trail and took us almost 2 hours to complete and has a lot of inclines but would say it's an easier trail. Very easy to navigate with maps and signs all over the trails and park.

Recently stayed in Divide and enjoyed the first and last days of our trip at Mueller State Park. $9 gets your whole car load in for the day. The trails are well-marked and maintained and accurately described as easy/moderate/difficult. The views were absolutely spectacular - look for trails marked with a camera on the map; they do not disappoint! There are lots of places to enjoy a picnic lunch, several well-placed restrooms, a small playground, and a fun and informative nature trail for the kids right when you enter the park. This is a wonderful place to enjoy some fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of many of the Colorado Springs tourist-y areas. Highly recommend!

One of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been to. This is definitely high altitude camping at 9,600 ft. The campsites are half n half shady/exposed. If you want the stunning views of Pikes Peak you're going to sacrifice the shade coverage making this park a great place to go during shoulder season. Extremely well kept. There are optional hike-in sites as well as backcountry camping, full electric, and even cabins! Pro tip: Not every site has a bear box so check the listing.

From the vantage point of the parking lot of Mueller State Park's Visitors Center, you can view the back of Pike's Peak (that is if you usually see it from the Colorado Spring's side) and the majestic spine of Rockies dividing our Continent. You're more likely to get that clear view in the morning before clouds obscure the view. It's only minutes away from Colorado Springs. I'm hoping that you'll pick up you're senior friends and/or family who may have mobility issues for a picnic here. The park entrance fee was $8 for our car. (This would be subtracted from a season pass if we decided to get one at the Visitor's Center.) New to Colorado? Don't forget to have clothes for the elevation and the wind that picks up. We just toured the Visitors Center this day, which was full of information and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the region. And there was that panoramic view from the parking lot. Up the road were the RV camping sites that are booked way in advance. If you want to see the best and finest recreation vehicles, expanded to capacity...this is the place to see them in all their glory.

Grouse Mountain Overlook view of Pikes Peak

While in Colorado last week, my brother took my wife and me up into the "mountains" through Woodland Park. Nearby Mueller State Park is a large Colorado park that offers lots of camping and hiking/biking trails. Now, none of us are "hikers", but we wanted to get out among trees and nature in some fresh air. A friendly park ranger at the park entrance recommended we drive all the way to the end of the paved road and hike up Grouse Mountain to the "dead tree" for a fantastic view. The veteran park ranger was right. Trails 16 & 17 are just 0.8 miles up to the highest point in the park - the stunning view from Grousse Mountain Overlook. At 9843 feet above sea level, the Overlook offers a beautiful 270 degree view of dramatic mountains and vast valleys. It seems you can see forever. Pikes Peak is off to your left and the Sangre de Cristo Range to your right. It only costs $6 per vehicle to enter the park. Since it is just 25 miles from Colorado Springs, Mueller State Park is a great choice for a day trip.

Dr. Rox was fantastic. Both my wife and I are teachers, and so we loved how academic the hike was as Dr. Rox would pause and explain the rock cycle, tectonic movement, or the birth of the Rocky Mountains. We were also delighted that our two teenage sons asked a bunch of questions and were obviously engaged in, not only the Geology lesson, but also the local flora and fauna. Dr. Rox answered every question, and, when she didn't know the name of a plant, she pulled out a trusty book and looked it up. She kept things light, but we definitely learned a lot as well. When we reached the end of the hike where the zeolite crystals had grown in the geodes, we climbed all over the rocks finding crystal after crystal. It was certainly an impressive site. We really loved both the scenery and our guide, and I would recommend this hike to anyone with any interested in geology. A big thanks to Dr. Rox for making our hike so fun and educational!

We got to look, touch, break, and collect all different kinds of rocks in a variety of gorgeous locations. It was fun to explore and engage in a tactile activity. In our modern world where so much of our lives are spent behind screens, this was a truly relaxing yet exciting activity and exploration tour in the outdoors. It was creative and fun. Day upper upper Browns Canyon which led to class I've and the use of duckies. Operation am not a fan but, half of our group loved them. We were then driven 1.5 hours away for our dinner and tent camping (3 miles from our put in). Ryan and Eric our guides cooked a great meal and catered to the group. Hi all! The…read moreAdventure Company was very professional from start to finish, and they were fun too. My family and I went rafting, and at that time, the Arkansas River was really high. There were some rapids that were very exciting, and the water was really cold, but it was funny for everyone else when I was getting soaked in the front. The water is COLD, but you get used to it pretty quickly. The rapids relaxed down in about 10 minutes, and it was a pretty smooth ride for the rest of journey. The total trip was about an hour and a half, which is a good time for younger kids. David was a great guide, and he was funny and entertaining, yet knowledgeable and passionate about many things adventure. He trained everyone in the raft the do-s and don't-s of rafting, and made sure everyone was prepared in case of emergency. He showed the techniques of how to maneuver the raft, and how to 'rescue' your buddy if they fell in. We had ages 7-57 in our group, and it was fun for everyone. If you are a beginner or have younger, more senior people in your group, I would suggest a level 1-2 experience. If you have a group of more confident, or medium-good physically fit people who like a bit more adventurous time, I would suggest a higher level of rapids. The rest of the staff in the office were very friendly, and the office and amenities were clean and organized. They had changing rooms, and clean guest bathrooms complete with showers if you so desire. They have free lockboxes for you to leave your keys or other valuables if you need. They offered picture packages, but allowed you to take whatever devices you wanted on the raft. They advise against it, and take no responsibility for your lost items, however, they did not prevent us from bringing them (we did not bring our devices). It was a little bit of a hike from Dillon, Frisco area. About 2 hours drive, but the scenery is amazing, and with good company, it makes an easy drive. You pass through some interesting towns on the way if you want to stop and get lunch or dinner! Overall, this was an awesome trip!
