You'll see the playground at Jefferson Avenue and Lafayette Street. The part of the park which we visited is rather small. There is a tennis court and pavilions on the sides of the playground. The playground is nice and well maintained. There are two infant swings and two low-to-the-ground swings. There is a large play structure for bigger kids, and a smaller one for younger kids. There is a small sandbox to the side, too. The park has old, big trees surrounding it, so there's a lot of shade. I think one of the best thing about this park is the parents we encountered. One mom had 5 total kids with her, and we chatted for about an hour. Another pair of parents came by, and one asked if we had left a stuffed animal as we were leaving (we didn't). That was nice. If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we will return here!

This park has a great view of some mountains in the distant background and multiple physical activity opportunities for people of abilities the path is wheelchair accessible bicycle welcome and dog friendly. The path is mostly Gravel with no major impossible rats and looks very well maintained there are benches throughout. Just not the initial part where my mom needed one so she turned around and went back. A time was had by all.

Today the high winds up there swirled snow and clouds almost vertically. To the right in this view is Longs Peak in RMNP. To the left is the Indian Peaks Wilderness area due west of Boulder. You might not use this this approach to Boulder on a weekday commute in when it will likely be bumper to bumper going very slow for several miles. And a bit dangerous with snow and ice and high winds at ground level. But on a beautiful clear dry winter day, it is classic and how so many people see Boulder for the very first time.

But a friend who likes to walk there too, offered me the option to do it today. She used to live nearby Viele Lake but now has moved to my neighborhood. We headed out mid-morning and though it was a cool, slightly wet start, it warmed up quite quickly when the sun was fully out. My friend had heard that there was a heron in residence this year and we found it on our first turn. We also saw a tree near the bridge that had snagged some debris from fishing supplies. I was unaware that fishing is allowed there. The view of the Flatirons backdrop of Boulder is fully complete from this lakeside path. It's especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Unfortunately, like most summers, there were a lot of droppings from the resident geese. Beware, even on paved surfaces.

On Sunday I found myself here for the first time for an interval training workshop led by a local running store. The grass was somewhat tall and soft to the touch during all of our push ups and other assorted exercises. Being newly aerated the chunks of dirt appeared somewhat poop like (so I was freaked out at first). There are people nearby walking dogs (for some reason they walk the dogs around the park on the sidewalk, rather than on the nice grass - not sure why). This park is quite large. Fields on either end with a children's playground in the middle. Parking around much fo the perimeter too. The one thing I didn't notice was a water fountain or restroom - both of which would have been a great addition to the lovely outdoor offerings.

Meant to show what life was back in the agriculture era here, it's a great place to see some well preserved machinery like this Tresher. Lots of money went into these for the farmers and it's interesting to see them in a unique setting. It's also the end of the Coal Creek Trail so a great place for a bike picnic. The buildings themselves usually aren't open but look to be used at times. The machines are in really great condition and you can tell people do not come often. The thresher is huge and really cool up close. I'm sure it made a heck of a noise back in the day!

In this park you can learn about the history of the family and the town or just sit back an relax and enjoy a nice quiet day. Next to the park by the sidewalk is what is left of the first town jail, mainly used to detain the towns drunks and/or ne'er-do-wells. Love this little dog park in Broomfield! It's very close to the mall, so it's easy to fit a visit…read morein with some shopping and dining. It's off the beaten path and fairly quiet. I love the location, alongside a marshy area with lots of light, fresh plants and shade. There's a nice short loop to walk, and some facilities around as well. The other dogs were friendly and my dog had fun walking around the path. There was a bit of water around but that's usually normal after snow. Great stop for a quick break or play time!

It's a beautiful state but when you're working, you don't always have time to see the sights. This was one of those trips and I was going a little stir crazy. I had considered going to RMNP again but this time of year it's timed entry only. Flagstaff is one of my favorite towns so I figured the mountain would be pretty cool too. I was right. The drive up the mountain is free and mountainy. What does mountainy mean? It's steep, twisty, and locals tailgate you as you white knuckle it to the top. But damn the views are impressive. I highly recommend this quick trip.

There are some picnic tables in the shade for snacks and a play area of rock shapes for clambering with smaller children needing safety spotters. It has a safe ground surface typical of playground areas like this. On a very hot bright day there is limited shade and there is free street parking available nearby. We arrived with three adults and one 5 year old. In the previous visit the child's parent told us it had been virtually empty. When we arrived this day, there was a group of adults visiting together, with toddler and preschool age kids who seemed to know each other, so something preplanned, maybe a summer play group or camp type group. They were packing up and leaving so very shortly we had the place mostly to ourselves. Other than the heat, it was fun. The park has some historical significance as the Simpson Coal mine that was at one time the center of Lafayette industry was near here and the park designed around that theme. The stone entry and picnic area backdrop are done in layered local sandstone with a simulated black call seam apparent through it. It also continues onto the ground play surfacing so you can see the coal color stripe extend around the park. Bring water and shade hats and sun protection as needed for the bright summer sun. As we found out, it was very hot in late morning and we later moved on to some indoor food and sun relief. At other times of year I expect it is more comfortable.

The place is in a neighborhood away from busy streets so its safe and quiet.
