The park is 37 acres with 5 acres right on the water and the rest of the park is within a stone's throw of the river. The park has a great boat ramp that allows access to the river and cool paths that that circle around the park for some easy hiking. A huge boardwalk extends out into the river and offers some great fishing or bird watching opportunities. The park is open 24 hours and has some of the cleanest bathrooms I have even seen in a public place. The entire area was appreciated by the native americans for centuries and lots of artifacts and huge mounds of clams, oysters and other shellfish are still being discovered. The park is definitely a cool and relaxing place to sit, walk, fish or just become one with the flow of the river.

Luckily, there are more amenities we can take advantage of. They rent kayaks and canoes and a bunch of other things for adults and kids. So that's a possibility. There is a huge grassy field for the kids to run around and play. And a paved walkway for you to run or walk that goes right along the water. Beautiful views across the way! I am just super happy with the amount of space here. We came for the playground and were able to stay t do other things because of the space and location.

This was Deacon's first historical site with his maw maw YoYo on her trek to see all things historical. He seemed to enjoy the adventure. The Cruger-de-Peyster Plantation Sugar Mill Ruins are superb. There are hiking trails in to the jungle like funa but we didn't have bug spray. I keep it in my car but we were enjoying Kayla's new rocking rover!!! We saw quite a few lizards. I guess they are a local staple to the wildlife here. Their little throats blow out a orangish bag, weird to us West Virginians....lol!! This park is nice! Pets allowed Small parking lot. A park with an…read moreocean Callalisa Park is a small place that serves as a place to go to another place.. It doesn't really have an ocean but it does have a nice boat ramp and parking area. From the park you can get into Callalisa Creek, then into the Indian River, then into the Intracoastal Waterway and then into the Atlantic Ocean if you want. Not a whole lot in the small park, just some benches and trash cans but it is a great place to fish or better yet launch a boat and go somewhere else. No bathrooms or drinking water and the parking lot does get bumpy and muddy in the wet season but the park and ramp is a very convenient place to get access to some very cool water.

There was beach access, bathrooms, and plenty of parking. We got the pavilion for the whole day and absolutely loved it. There was a playground and basketball court nearby as well. I've paddled the Emerald Cut a few times now. Initially I didn't like the idea of paying to launch…read moremy own paddleboard. However, it's only $10 now that I have my own life jacket (saving me additional cost of $5 to use one of theirs, as required). Well worth the low cost for some soul-enriching, communing with nature. I have never made a reservation. I normally arrive around 10:30, most recently on a Friday. Parked for free on Baptist Camp Rd. Just a bit of a walk from there with my inflated paddleboard, but I don't mind the extra exercise. You can unload your stuff closer, if preferable. There are port-a-potties available. You can count on there being a line in the check-in office. Various recreation supplies are available there for purchase. The process moves reasonably enough. A reservation will guarantee your entrance, however, and possibly aide quicker personal info collection. I always plan to do the Emerald Cut in roughly 3 hours round-trip, allowing myself several stops to enjoy the surroundings. You do run into (quite literally at times) novice paddlers along the way, which can be a bit tricky, yet not a real nuisance for me. In general, there's friendliness along the waterway. Slighty rowdy, party vibes in some spots, but also opportunities for solace and zen in various nooks. Encountering wildlife, fragrant elderberry, and other captivating flora along this stretch is always gratifying. It's a popular recreation destination for good reason.

A few things knock the stars down: - The amount of rules/ regulations is a downside. There are more than any other river we've visited in Florida. It's nerve wracking to make sure you're following every new rule. - Launching and landing at the dock is stressful. It feels rushed and disorganized. - The bathroom situation is DIRE. They have a few porta potties but they're pretty gross. - I've found some of the staff intimidating/ borderline rude. There are a lot of newbies to kayaking/ paddleboarding so patience is a virtue at busy times! It's a hard paddle up stream and coming back it can be easy to lose control around the corners. There are a few spots to be cautious of other paddlers. With that said, it's really stunning. They keep the area very clean and there are a lot of spots to pull off to the side to enjoy the view. I've never done a guided tour, but I've heard they're really well done!

This small community park is named in honor of George R Kennedy the city's fire chief who was killed by an errant sky rocket while he was overseeing a July Fourth fireworks display in 1986. This is a very beautiful tribute to a great man, although I never had the privilege of meeting George I do have friends that knew George personally and speak of his community involvement and dedication to the City of Edgewater. George R. Kennedy Memorial Park is located on S. Riverside Drive in Edgewater just across from Edgewater's City Hall. Amenities for the park include improved boat launching ramps, boat trailer parking, fishing pier, free internet Wi-Fi, pavilions and picnic tables. This park has restrooms.
